Communism is, as @4.T.A.G.C said, great in idea. Convincing people to follow it, however is a different thing. Just like a Capitalist society, when on paper it is fine and dandy. In reality, it is difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. And as @juha39 said, the Soviet union is not an example of a communist state, instead a Socialist authoritarian republic. Communism isn't supposed to do the things it has done, it is supposed to benefit those who do not under a Capitalist society. Just like Capitalists cause pain, poverty and depressions, Communists get things wrong and do the same.

Kaede, late-era soviet union provided stability for the people. They didnt get rich, but neither did they get really poor. That can be desirable, if you are in a profession you wont get rich anyway, like factory worker or a construcion worker. For some others, that is bad. Not everyone wants it back. A friend of mine was a teacher when SU collapsed. Computer science. Five years later he was rolling in money with the start of the IT boom. Others were not equally lucky.

retrocity5, communism was meant to end capitalist oppression. Equality was seen as necessary part of democratic society, which capitalism lacked.
Also, do not look at Stalin or Soviet Union, they were never communist. SU became an autocratic dictatorship on its first days. Those who called it a dictatorship, undemocratic, non-communist, or plain wrong were killed, and others were threatened with the same.
EG was called a Democratic Republic because it was supposed to be one. Everyone could see it was not, but no-one ever said it. Because of the killing thing.

@retrocity5 i would argue that communism is not bad necessarily, but that it doesn't work because of the people and their desire for possesions, power ect. So yes, it doesn't work and shouldn't be implemented but I don't think it is bad, just that humans are bad.

I can't believe that so many people don't get Communism... I can figure you have never read the Manifest, or investigated the USSR, or the GDR... PLEASE get some read. I have met people that lived socialism, both in GDR and USSR, and the five of them want them back. Most of them worked in factories or construction sites.

I have the other DDR mod but the Grenztruppen always crash my game. The Bausoldat is an interesting idea, I'll give it a shot later.

This is some of the worst balancing I've seen, the production from Honecker is too much as it is, and the marines give you combat workers for cheap, and then you throw another 25% production boost per spy on top of this....

If you want to steam roll everyone in a conquest victory on diety these would be a perfect candidate but as far as balance is concerned this mod needs a major tweak.

I used supported mods and the only other mods I used was the More Lux and More Pantheons mod as well as MC's Polynesian Civs. For some reason the enactment of the Berlin Wall had "Right click to see the Berlin Wall" about 10 times.
