The decrease in range was done to reflect changes in tactics, nothing odd about it. Not to mention that even muskets had worse range than Xbows and Composite bows.

Bazooka?

Sounds awesome. It bugs me when gattling gun has less range than archer. Also make a neat 1-2-3 attack range in later eras. I'll play a new game with this :D

problem i got a few mods on the steam workshop (this one icluded) while civ 5 wasent up and now i cant use them for some reason did they not install because i wasent in the game ive unsubed and resubed and it still wont work what do i do?

Late game ranged units have equal melee strength to their ranged strength - this mod completely destroys balance and makes these units strictly better than the alternatives in any situation. Pass.

What really pisses me off is the fact that you can lose a Fighter Jet to Pikemen. Units should not be able to throw torches at aircraft and hit their target.

Deatheater 30 Nov, 2013 @ 6:55pm
Thank you for this great mod can you pls make a mod for bnw that adds plus 1 range to the bazooka

So now upgraded English longbowman (extra firing hex) can shoot at tiles 3 away like a gatling sniper :P

Awesome. Always annoyed me that gatting guns could only attack one space away.
NopeTooFast 23 Jul, 2013 @ 3:00am
this only works for gatling gun for me :L
raindance maggie 12 Jul, 2013 @ 5:39am
you should make a mod for bnw that adds plus 1 range to the bazooka

just be glad you dont have to get sick of using ranged attacks from one hex away and then getting killed the next trun

just an idea i had for all ranged units but do you think they should be stronger while at closer range? like if its completely open terrain firing from close range would be more accurate and therefore do more damage than long range. if someone made this it shouldnt affect seige units cuz those set up which makes them accurate
Deus Vault 4 Mar, 2013 @ 12:48pm
d3mon sights dont change the range of a rifle. the barrel and the bullet itself changes the range plus do it have a muzzzle suoresser a silancer if so what type. but if slap on an acog or a x46 scope i would say my shots would be more accurate but not go farther.

I liked the idea at first. But after playing a few games I realized that this unit ends up being way over powered. The attack power needs to be seriously decreased. It should also be weak on attacking cities. Oh and for the people complaining that it is a problem that archers can fire multiple hexes but not the Gattling gun. With that logic any unit with a gun should be able to fire multiple hexes.
Ludo 20 Feb, 2013 @ 1:43am
lol i´ll do it :D
Ultimoos 12 Feb, 2013 @ 3:16pm
I actualy did the oposite. I reduced range of archer units to 1 tile. In recompensate defense was slightly improved. I played the "Fantasy wars" game. There were the "skirmish" units which did ranged attacks at 1 tile range. Siege units remains the same. I did some test games and AI still is capable of conquering cities, so at last this change does not break the game.

Nice to see this done. I had a huge problem with bows being able to fire multiple hexes, but not machine guns. I'm ex military, so the only suggestion I would make, if it is possible, is not to limit the attack strength, but to make sure they cannot fire indirect, like artillery. Their LOS should be blocked by terrain. So in a forest hex to another forest hex, they should only have 1 hex range. They should not be able to fire over hills or mountains. However, if they have the high ground on a hill, then their LOS should not suffer. I haven't played with this yet, I'm just going off of what I see in the pic above. Thanks for doing this, as it needed to be done.

To me the range is fine, But it should do little damage to citys so its not like a Trebuchet
Billy Idle 21 Sep, 2012 @ 6:36pm
Agree with geldoon 100%
geldoon 20 Sep, 2012 @ 8:27am
Yeah lets face facts, you can't have a bow firing upto two hexs away (and a longbow 3) and a machine gun firing 1 hex. As for machine guns "being for defense" that was the primary roll of bow as well, you don't charge at the enemy firing your bow, you sit back and wait for him, that's defence. And as for realism, give me a break you can then use your 3 hex ranged longbow to take out attack helicopters, well in theory, the point is the game isn't really geared towards realism though it does keep it in mind, playability, play balance and fun are far more important. Besides if you don't like it don't use it, these comments should be used to inform modders of problems, technical (bugs) and balance/playbility suggestions as well as showing your appreciation if you did like the mod because these guys take the time to try and improve the game, not just for themselves but for others.
Freddy Ruger 12 Sep, 2012 @ 9:43pm
I think they should have the same combat strength at short range but half as much at long range. that was sort of the case in world war one.
xAvengedD3monx 14 Jul, 2012 @ 3:46pm
This mod makes the game more realistic since a standard ak-47 or ar-15 can shoot 500 yards away with just iron sights. Not counting other rifles in .308 and .50 calibers, which can shoot over a mile away with a good shot behind them.
DangerRuss 8 Jul, 2012 @ 2:21pm
neat idea, if a bit overpowered. It doesn't seem to work for me though. Im subscribed and its checked when I make a game but still only one hex range
stratl_00 6 Jul, 2012 @ 11:05am
Not possible IRL. Be more realistic.
Dusty Howard 28 Jun, 2012 @ 10:07pm
this seems to be more of a mortar team thing then a machine gun
HoboTed 28 Jun, 2012 @ 4:18pm
if the machine gun gets enough promotions it will have a 2 hex range
jenny 23 Jun, 2012 @ 6:49am
@Iriath Zhul: I think that this is important because a bowman can fire 2 squares away, but when it is upgraded to a gatling gun it loses this range. Trebuchets are still better for city taking and eventually gain a range of 3.
Iriath Zhul 23 Jun, 2012 @ 5:09am
I don't understand this mod. So now it's like a Trebuchet. The point of machine guns is that they're extremely powerful compared to everything else, but they're only really good at defense.
Orbital 22 Jun, 2012 @ 3:03pm
Awesome
Sol 19 Jun, 2012 @ 2:14pm
sweet, i was wondering when it would happen
