that's good.
that is the way I designed it. but to get the turrets to react to the player, without shooting them.
was re-test & die, a fair few times. before it worked as now is.
thankyou for your feedback & for playing.
ps. I altered my quick save to F5 & quickload to F8. to avoid accidently hitting the wrong key & having to re-start a map, from the start.
but no deaths (exept turrets), in turret encounter ?
thankyou for your comments.
I smiled, when you mentioned the turret encounter.
I died a few times, in testing. to get the timing just right.
if they hit you with just 1 bullet, it causes you to miss the button.
glad you had fun
thankyou
thankyou for your comments.
glad you enjoyed the surprises :)
as your comment caused me to take another look at the laser field room.
I have moved the room in a tile & made the tiles nearest to the shaft, non-portable.
this will stop the player portaling up there. which would stop them having the funel.
plus the existing title, should make it obvious, that they need it.
most players will instinctively keep it anyway.
exeption being, if you give an option, to take something else.
eg. like a laser. which they might think would help kill the turrets.
thankyou
glad you enjoyed it.
& like surprises.
but I think they were more surprised :)
ps. some of my maps, it is recomended, to read the description 1st.
as some their are things, not known to many.
I´m glad I remembered my funnel portal in the laser room, not sure if I could have been stuck there.
Thanks for the good time, I look forward to play more from you.
thankyou :)
glad you had fun.
thankyou
thankyou again.
I have more of yours in my list.
this map was very basic.
so I did a major update, when I learn't more about map making.
as with most of my 1st maps, I created.
This should be the link to the rebuild of the smtn for funn puzze. Its now named Vexza's Smtn for fun . https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=184917407
If the link doenst work you will find it in my workshop for sure.
Also got good and bad news :
The bad news is : Its indeed dam hard to rebuild a puzzle from mind only ;) .
The good new is : I think that i did a good job to get around 90% of the old puzzle into this one.
BTW i did delete the old one so you can remove it from your list.
on this page, at the top, is the address of this page, for subscribing to this map.
I would just copy the address, then paste it. eg.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=77671664&tscn=1381049881
you could start a rich text document on your pc & paste all your maps addresses in their.
for future use. write the name of the map as well.
to create a rich text document on windows:
go to where you want to put it & right click a empty space.
select rich text document, then name it eg. portal 2 map address
then open it & write the name of your map & paste the map address into it.
always save on exiting. (it will ask if you alter anything)
you can also save the address of any sites using this method.
and being a rich text document, you can click on the address & it will take you there.
thanks for for explanation on hoew to save maps in the future. Indeed its crab that steam does not sync them on it own :S. Already working on a new map. But tesing does not give the right result..... You will see pop ut up. ( btw how you post a link to you new map in a post like this ? I tryed it before but no luck )
after a new pc or re-instalation of your operating system.
use the path to copy them back to the same location, after re-installing steam.
so backing up the path info, is also recommended.
I have succesfully done this myself.
you should then rebuild the maps, to show last build.
as just pressing the "Tab" key, actualy showed me a new map.
backup on a schedual is good.
but if planing a re-install of your operating system or getting a new pc.
do it then, for a most recent version, is recommended.
hope this will help, in the future.
sorry to here, your maps are gone from your editor.
for some reason, steam does not sinc your maps, in the editor, when you do a re-install your operating system, or change your pc.
I recommend backing them up.
just copy & paste any future maps, from the following location:
path to portal 2 maps on a windows 7 home premium 64 bit pc.
start / computer / C drive (or which ever one your operating system is on) /program files (x86) / steam / steam apps / common / portal 2 / portal 2 / puzzles
then paste on a external digital storage device.
eg. hard drive, flashdrive, dvd, etc.
thankyou for your comments.
I just subscribed to your 2nd map "Jump or Die"
what happened to your 1st ?
glad you had fun.
I died a lot, getting the turrets to see you & react, as you go to the button.
they had to be turned just right, as even a non lethal shot,
would make you miss the button & they would all shoot you.
thankyou
glad you enjoyed it.
just added grating to stop the exploit that you found.
thankyou.
ps.
I will leave you a link to my new map, in the comments of one of your maps,
when I have finished it.
I have just saved your workshop address, to a: rich text document.
so I can access it later.
very good (unintended) solution :)
I feel an update coming on.
thankyou for that video.
it was educational.
the reason for that portable area near the turrets,
was in case the player left the funel at the end of the map,
& wanted to funel up to the exit, from the ground.
This video to answer the question: how I killed the turrets at the beginning.
thankyou again.
your the 1st person to have a problem with the light.
but you have learnt something that may help you in the future :)
how did you kill the turrets in the beginning ?
as for a new map:
I am working on 1, but am not happy with it yet.
I need to re-design the gate system & a few other things.
it will have something I have not seen before, that I came up with.
it will be called "have faith"
& you will need it, to complete the map.
For your first card, congratulations. I liked the downstairs room with funnels. I did not need the laser to kill the two turrets because I've killed them from the beginning.
I did not like this lighting that makes my believe I could not even create a portal.
I think I play all your maps, and this one isn't the worst :)). Please, tell me when you're making new maps
thankyou
glad you had fun :)
I just subscribed to your map: Bring your own laser
Very fun arrangement, but that's also what it was; an arrangement. There weren't really any puzzles, but there doesn't always have to be. Thumbs up.
your welcome.
thankyou for your feedback.
happy you had fun :)
thankyou.
I know.
I spent a fair bit of time on it, then after making little progress.
I looked at your comments page.
oh, so the light bridge was supposed to go into the flip panel.
I killed the turrets & got traped as well.
but will try again.
it is difficult with our own maps, you have it near perfect & alter a very minor item.
which breaks the map.
done it myself.
About my map you just subscribed to, there is a chance that you got an update with an error in it. Make sure that you have the latest version.
thankyou very much for your comments
I just subscribed to your map: Prison Break 2013
& thankyou for the video.
I saw you took a bit more time than I anticipated in the laser field trap room.
so I have removed all antlines, exept 1, from upper button, to front laser field.
hopefully this simplification will help other players to see the sollution.
I also added some portable areas.
so if a player falls down from the faithplate that the speed gel hits,
back to the area with the bouncy gel. they can go back up, with the funel.
or if they forgot it, without the funel.
also added some lights.
on item limit again.
ps. although this was my 1st map, I have done a major update, since I 1st published it.
the original was very basic:
http://youtu.be/JZQwkkfh1Vs
I was thinking of unpublishing it.
then decided to update.
http://youtu.be/f19SSnwgT7s
did you finish ?
