I've just uploaded the new version. Your two problems shouldn't be a problem and I was unable to replicate either problem with the old version. Please give it a try and thanks for reporting both issues.

Alright. I'll look into it. I've actually ported the entire game into a newer engine, I'm just not ready to show it off yet without new levels complete. I should be able to go into the old game which is the Workshop version and fix that issue.

Right now in the game the shotgun is the spread weapon and I think there are 3 shotguns in the game. The stun time in the game in the non uploaded version is 1 second and you have 1.5 seconds of invulnerability. The grenade launcher can now fire at 3 angles.

Different weapons for different shooting directions sounds like a good idea. I like how the grenade launcher shoots downwards. (I still think stun time is too long, and i feel stun direction should be away from the enemy, and not just backwards.)

They stun when they damage you. If it didn't stun you then you'd be able to run through the enemies. Seems like everyone wants shooting in every direction, but that would flat out break the game. Anyway the game has been remade where you can collect and use any weapon you have unless the ammunition runs out. I just haven't upload it.

In general I feel enemies should either stun your or damage you, but when's both it feels too punishing. Also more shooting directions, as some ppl refered. Otherwise, nice game :)

Thanks Captain. That seems to be the consensus to add more directions to shoot. The next shooting game will probably have that ability.

maybe add a way to aim diagonally too, that would be fun since you can then add more moving targets that would be possible to hit

Lag and flicker too. I'm not sure how to simulate the GameBoy's processor with GameMaker. If I ever do I'll come back :-)

This was really cool, at points there would be some screen lag like in old scool games, too much on the screen slowing it down, but other than that really solid gameplay and tons of fun!!

Thanks. Its the same problem Forge had. I assume the game isn't saving the map file to your hard drive for whatever reason. I'll see what I can do to fix that.

Then the map isn't being generated, which is an interesting issue considering that skin and skinback are generated. All 4 of those .pngs are generated at the same time one after another. I'll get to the bottom of it, but otherwise the easiest fix would be stop it from making the .png files for maps.

Thank you again for sticking with it and trying it. I'll have a new update sometime today.

Thanks for testing. You never see the map correct? I think its crashing when it imports the actual game map. If you could go into your c:\users<\username>\appdata\local\alienvania\ folder for me and check to see if there is a map.png and a mapw.png These are the map files the game reads. If you don't have them, then the game isn't making the maps for you and we can go from there.

Yeah color would be better, but that would defeat the purpose of a GameBoy game jam. How could the controls be better?

There are WSAD, arrow keys, quite a lot of buttons for shooting and jumping. Full controller support, D-pad and analog stick. Even controls to look up, down look further left and right. Its described in the pause menu.

That's a good game, nice work!
If the world be a colorful will be better, and the control feel may need a fine adjust to let it be better :)
