updated?

Sadly the tool I used to make these map mods has not been updated in a long time, and as such the maps it produces come with a plethora of bugs that I am not personally willing to put in the time to solve, though if anyone else is willing to solve them and publish their own mod I fully endorse it.

Any chance of an update to the latest version? Says this is for 1.2...
Jason 21 Feb, 2017 @ 4:27pm
ha jokes on you with my new mod that adds a solar system randomly every year all i have to do is wait to jump to the other galaxy
Moon Sparks 29 Oct, 2016 @ 1:41pm
Idk if it's me.But when i click on a certain start system my game crashes.also the same thing happens when i try to edit certain parts of my empire
Jester Orion 13 Oct, 2016 @ 2:52pm
Will do. I'll double-check my mods and see which ones alter AI. Might narrow something down.
skud13  [author] 13 Oct, 2016 @ 1:25pm
I think when I generated this map, the editor may have messed up a few of the files (things like system naming etc). I'll be updating it tomorrow. Until then, installing one of my other mods like Big Spiral Galaxy along side had's Insane Galaxy mod (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=681933510&searchtext=insane+maps) seems to solve this problem.

Still haven't figured out what might be causing the no empires expanding issue.
Jester Orion 13 Oct, 2016 @ 9:17am
No idea which it could be. Multi galaxy works.
skud13  [author] 12 Oct, 2016 @ 11:18pm
Might be another mod causing that problem. I've never encountered that issue with any of my map mods so far.
Jester Orion 12 Oct, 2016 @ 3:30pm
Alright, so, all the other empires in my game are not attempting to colonize elsewhere in the galaxies. They have fleets built up, but they aren't going anywhere, even when I'm not near them.
skud13  [author] 12 Oct, 2016 @ 5:48am
It is possible through calling events to spawn and unspawn systems, including having those system connected by a hyperlane.
auridyce 12 Oct, 2016 @ 4:40am
I think the latter idea would work better in the space of the game, but instead of multiple connections, to balance it out just a little bit, how about a single connection from point to point. The construction ship would take about 5 years to establish the route, and for that limited time, there'd be a ship modifier adding +100% FTL, I say this because as far as I know, there is no way to add route-specific modifiers, or add hyperlanes post-galaxy generation.

Or a hybrid of the two ideas, where you just generate the stars between the galaxies, name them 'Subspace Disturbance #N' that's drawn by a single trip? This would automatically generate hyperlanes between the stars.

However I have no idea if removing stars after this would be possible. It'd also require alot more work on your part, as I'm fairly certain all you'd have to do for the first one is tweak a few values, then spend an 30 minutes-2 hours adding in the tech tree, descriptions and balancing out the the modifier.
skud13  [author] 12 Oct, 2016 @ 4:31am
I might create a couple of intergalactic travel methods.

Another drive I'm thinking of will be a tech equipped onto a construction-like ship, and this tech will grant the ship the ability to create a series gateway just within the edge of the highest warp range (or will have a hyperlane connected to it). The ship would then travel to that new gateway (which would be a system with a ring in it) and then they would create another gateway from that distance, and so on and so forth until they can get in range of the other galaxy. Each system will only stay present for a limited amount of time before disappearing (I'll say it gets sucked into another dimension through the tears in space the gates create, thereby also being a viable option to cause an end game crisis). You would have to do this each time you want to travel between systems. Thinking this could be the intergalactic drive system for hyperlane ftl users.
skud13  [author] 12 Oct, 2016 @ 4:20am
Interesting concept. I might just do that. Also I might make it that the Intergalactic Drive, requires Dark Matter or some other rare element to work, and consumes one value of said element each time you make the jump. This would make the whole concept of an advance fleet important and a major loss if your advance fleet gets destroyed before you can colonise or claim any systems in the other galaxy.
auridyce 12 Oct, 2016 @ 4:19am
Something I forgot to mention in my previous post was this: The Intergalactic drive would be a new policy or something similar that would change all FTL to have something like +100% range & +10000% charge time, only researchable after jump drives and/or psi drives are researched.
auridyce 12 Oct, 2016 @ 4:13am
Here's a suggestion: Make the galaxies slightly further apart, impossible to reach eachother without an FTL called 'Intergalactic Jumpdrive' - A jumpdrive that has a drastically slower charge, on the levels of the Pre-FTL mod. This would an aspect of the galactic distance that felt truly massive, instead of just this easy-to-traverse area once you get the tech.
YellowApple 12 Oct, 2016 @ 3:03am
I guess what I'm getting at there is that I already use a mod which adds some late-game repeatable tech to bump up jump drive and wormhole range (and warp, too, but I've started to prefer jump drives lately). It'd be nice to have just the multi-galaxy map(s) without interfering with my existing approach to crossing absurdly-long distances.

I guess I could download this anyway and just snip out the jump drive tweaks for my own use.
skud13  [author] 12 Oct, 2016 @ 1:08am
Updated:

Fixed Jump Drive range to make it now reach across to the other galaxy. Was just a tiny bit off.
skud13  [author] 11 Oct, 2016 @ 8:15pm
It's a universal thing. I don't know how I would make it not universal tbh, sorry. The only solution I have for that is to disable the mod when you want to play on another kind of map.
YellowApple 11 Oct, 2016 @ 8:05pm
Do the changes made by this mod to jump drive behavior apply to other galaxy types as well? Or just to this specific galaxy type? If the former, can that be split off into a separate mod so that the player can enable/disable it depending on the map?
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 1:43pm
i just found that if you use the same script,, you know the mod buildable ring worlds? use his, same thing, just exspand the creation of the event border.
skud13  [author] 11 Oct, 2016 @ 11:39am
How would you scale the borders? What file or line of text would need to be modded? I've looked in the borders effects files, but I can't figure out what's what aside from colour coding lol.
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 9:56am
yeah i found bugs with it too but. idno i think youl need to scale borders with it too
skud13  [author] 11 Oct, 2016 @ 9:16am
I know that if you change the GALAXY_SPACE_SCALE_MULT from 2 to a higher number, the scale of your galaxy will automatically become much bigger. Just bumping it up to 10 for example is a huge difference.

However borders don't show where they should. If you could come up with a way to fix the border problem, you'd have a quick solution there.
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 8:36am
not sure how u could replicate that on the editor, but i recon if you took your time, you could easily, exstend those spirals out. jsut randomise most, but plac e specific homeworld at the right locations.

ime in need to make a halo accurate galaxy map anyway.
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 8:35am
ie do a simple test - make a system, and give it a neighbouring system that spawns 600 @distance, youl see what imean.
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 8:34am
neighbor_system = {
# distance = { min = 50 max = @distance2 }
# initializer = "****"

is what i used. changing the distance to about 700 is normal max range. 900 is ont eh edge of the actual map box.
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 8:31am
alittle if you dont group them but worked for the ark so-
skud13  [author] 11 Oct, 2016 @ 8:04am
Right, but doesn't it mess up borders?
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 7:21am
i know if you apply the same codeing you use for spacing out planets in a system, to stars you can set their range from galactic rim
skud13  [author] 11 Oct, 2016 @ 4:25am
If at all possible, I would really like to incorporate the Z axis somehow into the map and make the borders 3 dimensional/spherical, like they are in Elite Dangerous. But that's all hypothetical stuff for later lol. Atm I want to just try and expand the limited map size beyond 1000, because it's really getting in the road of spacing out these galaxies.
skud13  [author] 11 Oct, 2016 @ 4:25am
With the galaxy creator, you can create your own custom systems by making sure you have no current tool selected (like create system, delete system, create nebula, delete nebula, hyerlanes, spawn, move etc) (to unselect them you just have to press the same tool button again) and then select a system you want to edit, and it's basic details (position x,y etc) will show up and at the bottom of the details on the right side of the screen you can select the button "Edit in System Editor" which brings up a whole system editing menu.

I would like to create a fully static map at some point in the future with this tool. Atm I've just let the game generate random system, whilst keeping their position static.
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 1:41am
think elite dangerous gal map style- but in stellaris , maybe squished a tad, so not mind fuck. but similar.
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 1:40am
also i downlaode d that galaxy creator today too, am curious about it. just how mutch i can push the bounderies you know =) --

is there a prefab option so i can work on a mod thats alredy out, or you have to gen it all yourself from go.

--again becouse i love filled galatic cores, but again there would be no starts in the cente r as "Giant fucking black hole" , yet nobodies quite made it right you know? but spread out--- width and height way propperly.
LordZarmack 11 Oct, 2016 @ 1:38am
i can get you the coding i used. but it was a fluke ironicly that i got it working, i neve r got to understanding galaxy generation too well, just positioning worlds. i applied the same--- code and it created the perfect ark distence from the galaxy.

it was more a accedent lol - but you can see it made me think, hm, if this is possible then--- ect ect

and yeah ime after this too. a propperly detailed defined galaxy map thats relaly, spread over a propper scale. so it feels actualy epic- spore like you know.
skud13  [author] 11 Oct, 2016 @ 12:51am
LordZarmack, so you don't remember how you managed to get things to show up beyond the 1000 limit?
skud13  [author] 10 Oct, 2016 @ 10:48pm
LordZarmack, I made this mod with Retalyx's system generator, by generating the system from an image I had created, then deleted a few of the systems to cut it down to 2000 and added in hyperlanes and nebula.

I am interested in creating a galaxy that is more spread out and thus more well defined as well.
WolvesofZiu 10 Oct, 2016 @ 1:39pm
This is interesting.
LordZarmack 10 Oct, 2016 @ 1:30pm
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=746129105 - the galaxy is huge, but obviosuly, what ime trying to do is, make a really sprea d out galaxy, with lots of empty space, and real scale/ distance.

-obviously i know many would use it if it was created-- anyway get back to me some time. cheers
LordZarmack 10 Oct, 2016 @ 1:28pm
the galaxy is 1.750 stars. imagine spreading those stars to the arks distance out of galatic rim, =)
LordZarmack 10 Oct, 2016 @ 1:27pm
your welcome to go over my mod and see how i did it. - and se e if you can apply it to exspanding themaximum galaxy sise, (i know theres a actual limit to how far out, but i broke past it. so i know its possible to have a even larger galaxy.

ie- say 2000 stars - but spread over the distance of say 9000 would cover. ive managed to get it working, but i wasent sure how i did it ha ;)

- anyway leme know.
LordZarmack 10 Oct, 2016 @ 1:24pm
you see some variants, but nobody has got it at the right scale/ distances -

i know you can make systems outside the galaxy circle, as in my attmepts on my halo mod, i managed to get the ark to spawn miles outside the galaxy spiral
LordZarmack 10 Oct, 2016 @ 1:23pm
or a more, realistic scaled of our galaxy.
LordZarmack 10 Oct, 2016 @ 1:22pm
mind making a scatterd galaxy, or exsplaining how you did this?

think in the style of sins of solar empire, set up- / fractured galaxy

id like to have a go at using my larger - combined with custom set up. - i can go ove r your work, but id rather talk to you directly.
