@MLG Toast I'm planning to release these levels as regular Jacket levels in a collection in this summer.
Sorry if I'm being picky, but try to work on these in ACT III if they're not being taken into consideration.
Pros:
'Alright' Story
Pretty good level design
Not too short/long
Cons:
A few spelling errors
Oscar mask makes things so hard to see, a bit annoying
Scummy enemy placement in some areas, especially prevelent in Vendetta
Some characters will clip through doors
S rank score is set to 0, could be set higher. Maybe ask some friends or testers to get a high score and pick the highest to set as the S rank?
Again, sorry if I'm being picky, but theres a lot of trash maps on here, at least you know how to make levels similar in aesthetic to Dennaton. Unlike most people who just make a plain bare laiden area with enemies being the main object of decoration.
Too many cliches.
Not really bad level design but hard to see anything just like Miami Falls Act 3.
ACT II is in development. I'm done with 2 levels and some intros and outros and there has been a change of plans. I decided to add one Oscar level for ACT II. It won't be a long level so, don't worry about your eyes LOL!
The only thing i disliked is that my eyes hurt with the oscar mask XD
You sure worked a lot on those levels.
I hope you'll continue! I'm waiting for part II ^^
@B3AR Because I thought this mask fits very well with the character I planned on my mind.
I know dialogue has some typos, grammatical error and such problems like that and that's because English is not my first language but I think they're not so 'bad' to prevent you from understanding what's going on.
I don't know why but I felt like I needed to do a lotta exposition because I wanted players to understand what's going on. Even though I did a lotta expositions, there are still some people haven't understood what's going on with Oscar and other people in the campaign but I'm sure everything will be crystal clear after the second act.
Thank you for your feedback again and I'll keep those in mind!
Potential improvements:
-The dialogue was a little cliché at times, with quite a few spelling and grammar errors. I understand that English is not your first language though, so don't worry too much about this.
-A little too much exposition at times. You could have told the same story with more implications and less dialogue. Your target audience can appreciate subtle references, and you don't need to spell everything out for us to understand what's going on.
Praise:
+I enjoyed the level design. Your levels were well detailed, although we probably missed a lot of that detail in the first couple of levels due to Oscar's blindness. I am very glad that not every level was in darkness though.
+Cut scene actions were good.
+Great work on using special effects such as the gas, disco lights, the 'Richard filter' and the LSD effect. Like I said, I haven't even used these things yet myself.
It took me 1.5 month to do and it was supposed to be at least 7 levels but I had some problems with the mods so I decided to make only 4 levels for this act. Expect more levels in second act, tho!
If you get a chance, please check my campaigns out too :)
You just gotta extract that file inside and drag it into the Steam>steamapps>Hotline Miami 2 folder. Don't forget to take a copy of the original hlm2_music_desktop.wad, tho!
Miami Falls was great, really enjoyed it. There might be some resemblances since both "Oscars" are mutating into something else but this Oscar is not exactly mutating, he's just losing his mind.
except good.
Well, sorry to hear that but Oscar had to be in the first act but don't worry, next act will be about the other victim that connected to Oscar. So, there will be no "eye-fucks" in the second act LOL.
