This is a function that should have existed for a long time in SE.
An update is needed. They could use a modular system similar to the one in the Forever Skies game.

KeeN tell us we not need new stuff. Still MOD to fun to play with and this may be vannila from start as is pure engineering.

Light gas buoyancy devices and vacuum buoyancy devices need to be in the base game for use in atmospheres. Dependency handling and ordering is also a major issue when adding mods to a world.

Anyone know of a script to manage their fill levels? scripts for hydrogen tanks dont work cause the block types are different, if there isnt what is the string name for the block type, cause im modifying another script to work. Otherwise, excellent mod!

I'm assuming they mean, when it's filled partially, it would act as ballast tank, so you could have one that will only go to top of water as ceiling, but be able to sink to bottom

also same grind to halt issue was in our weapon core tournaments if we used hydrogen thrust

the problem could be keens hydrogen code bugginess, i have single player worlds grinding to halt cause i have hydrogen thrusters on them

i would not say "broken" .... it works .... but it looks,it creates on server an big chunk of network traffic ..... so maybe a buggynes with the changes keen made ...?
Have maked an airship with a couple of ballons..and the server have fun spam the network with other player to heavy laggs...
And would still prefer an recode, so the force of lift is,like on the digi-wings, created on the center of mass - so dampeners would work and the balancing of multiple ballons would no problem

tip, use hydrogen thruster on top to slow ascent and deplete hydrogen in tanks

Yeah it's rather difficult to store hydrogen when you are being yeeted into the sky by the tank.

I mean, there's nothing stopping you from using these as a hydrogen tank on a station, but it might be difficult on a ship.

nah i got my own models, fresh out of bakery made, they use lots of canvases so it's closer to a cube with cloth on the sides

even if you ask around the modding channel in discord on how to do what you want what you will get is the code in this mod (you can check that if you want)
code here is pretty basic so i don't see why not.

hey nukegard, i'm planning on making a floater block too but with much different behaviors (no fill ratio and it doesn't act as container, made with canvas and lightweight materials with x5 to reality lift factor for hydrogen (so about 925kg for a 5x5x5 small grid and 19525kg for 2x3x3 large grid lift))

may i use your code (the cs script) for my mod?

Yeah. I have found myself using as a regular hydrogen tank due to the aesthetics more often. If it is a problem don't worry about it, I can manage.

Would there be a way to change the background of the icon, so that instead of being white on the the hotbars, it could be something that would contrast with the on/off text?

The solution was that I was not using the naming correctly in the command argument. The gas cells act as hydrogen tanks as far as MMaster is concerned. Example: Tanks * Hydrogen, would reflect all of tanks that would hold hydrogen.

Where as Tanks {G:groupname} Hydrogen would only serve those tanks in the group. So I made a simple group name to contain the gas cells and the command would only reflect those on the LCD.

Turns out it wasn't really necessary to determine the tank type name.
