You would need to add an entry to both the "Great Prophet Names.xml" and "Great Prophet Names Text.xml" files (both of which can be found in the "XML" folder of the mods files.

If you look at both files you should be able to use them as an example on how to add new entries. For example, the first entry in both files is used to add the name Moses to the list.

"Great Prophet Names.xml" first adds an entry that associates a TXT_KEY with the Prophet unit, and then "Great Prophet Names Text.xml" defines that specific TXT_KEY to have the text "Moses".

Hi @Tomatekh! Sorry if you've answered this elsewhere, but is there a way to add some names to this mod? I found a couple of text files in the relevant folder but I'm not sure which, if any, will affect my game (and I'm not asking you to add them to the mod itself because they're largely either fictional or very obscure - it's just for my own entertainment really)

It's a bug with the Steam Workshop, not the mods. Usually, un-subscribing and re-subscribing to the mod within the mods menu in-game will trigger it to correctly download. Otherwise you can try the direct download link at the bottom of the description and manually install it.

All of the historical religions mods disappeared after updating. Deleted from the MODS folder entirely. Only have this issue with Civ5.

Everyone, I've decided to bundle this mod within my Historical Religions Complete (BNW & GK) mod (v.10+). So if you have use the Complete mod and upgraded, you no longer have to activate the mod (and, in fact, boths mods will block each other to prevent a conflict).

Every other great unit got custom names. I don't know why this wasn't just part of the original game. I prefer to think of this mod as a patch more than an add-on. Thank you!

Its not a bug, per se, and in fact would happen with Great Engineers, Scientists, etc. if the game let you capture them. It's essentially just how the game handles captured units; it doesn't give you the same unit back so much as the previous unit is destroyed and a new one is made at the same location.

Short Answer: It's how the game itself is programmed and there's nothing that can be done about it.

The update was primarily to ensure compatability with my other mods. I also added about 5 names (they'll be at the bottom of the xml file).

All versions of the mod should "work" with all saves (GK or BNW) regardless of which version you saved it with, as it really only edits text files and doesn't change any game mechanics. At most you might notice a prophet have the name TXT_KEY_WHATEVER if you're using a new version with a save made with an older version, but it won't affect gameplay in any way. Otherwise, as long as the older version has a different v. number theres no real need to delete it. Some people have reported problems with certain mods if you have multiple versions in the mods folder, so I said delete as a precaution. You could always also just move the old version to a different folder temporarily and just switch it back in later.

Thanks for the fast reply, is there a way to not delete it? or are the g&k version and the G&K + BNW different mods? I need the g&k version for another of my games, i screwed up and used it while i didn't realize the new version had disapeared,

It's just steam workshop being crappy and bugging out. You can try unsubscribing before you start the game, then re-subscribing, in-game, from the modsmenu, waiting a minute or so for it to click.

If that doesn't work you can download and install the mod manually:

Place that file in the mods folder (documents/my games/civ 5/mods); delete any previous verison of the mod that might be in that folder before you do so.
