Doesn't work. Can't create road network. Fails every time.

Leider nicht. Irgendwann mal, vielleicht, nach dem Weltuntergang. :steamfacepalm:

JayBee I think he means you can access the mod's menu through the tab at the top left of the screen in the Main Menu
JayBee1971 7 Aug, 2019 @ 10:34pm
Hi eis_os, thanks for the reply. You also state the mod can be turned of. But that does not work, at least not for me. Only subscribing is already giving issues. So I cannot even go to the CommonAPI menu as the game does not load at all. Or do you mean load another map, turn things of, and then restart the not working (in this case Gotthard) map?

I am not sure about heights and lua files. I do not want to change things I do not know the effects of.

And btw: it was not criticism on the CommonAPI mod. To be honest, I have no idea what it does. And proper bug report? I have no idea what you are looking for. Maybe I can do something here if you want and explain in more detail what you need to know.
gax  [author] 22 Jul, 2019 @ 1:04am
Thanks eis os! Lets hope that TF 2 map creation doesnt have this height limitation anymore.
eis_os 21 Jul, 2019 @ 10:53am
Hello,

If you have problems with CommonAPI a proper bug report would be nice.
How should I know we have a problem?

CommonAPI alters the game map range settings.
UGs max height limit is 1000 (map lua range). CommonAPI changes this to 2500. This seems to negativly affect the map creation.

Either the map.lua max rage is set to 1000. Then creation shouldn't be a problem anymore and the result should be the same.

However I will introduce a conditional switch to the next version so this patch can be disabled.

Btw. you can disable CommonAPI native functions and patches via CommonAPI Menu -> Settings -> More -> Disable native library. Save, Restart the game. (to activate it again, you can use TPFMM or edit the mod settings.lua)

The reason for this patch was a request for even more mountains:

https://www.transportfever.net/index.php/Thread/9110-Common-API/?postID=238608#post238608

Have fun.
gax  [author] 16 Jul, 2019 @ 5:18am
Great that you found the culprit. Common API is neccesary for some station mods and mod inter operatibility, iirc. I personally dont have it (and i have about 1000 mods installed).
JayBee1971 16 Jul, 2019 @ 4:12am
Did the reinstall action. It is the common API mod which causes the problems. All other mods work fine. I do not know what the common API mod does and what the consequences are not having it. But the map works fine as long as this mod is not installed (restart the game is needed!).

So now I am going to play and see if there are any consequences not having this mod.

BTW: the expmapsize setting was not needed to load the map correct.
gax  [author] 16 Jul, 2019 @ 1:16am
Yes, its a big map (expmapsize true). But still not big enough for the southern ramp of the Gotthard. :(
JayBee1971 15 Jul, 2019 @ 10:35pm
I have posted a question on transportfever.net .

I am reinstalling the game now and will try again without any mods installed later on. And if it works I will reinstall group by group the mods to see which one causes issues. I have seen someone who did deinstall the common api and solved the issue. Didn't work for me.

One question popped up in my mind Gax: is this a "big map", so did you set the experimentalMapSizes to True in the settings.lua?
gax  [author] 15 Jul, 2019 @ 7:27am
I just started the map anew for testing purpose, one time without any mods and one time with my adapted version of the snow mountain mod. There where no problems at all, the roads were fine, the waterlevel, and every town and industry where they should be. I have no glue why it is not working for you, scotianew and janisjan. If i were a modder, computer savvy or simply a bit younger and smarter, i might figure it out but alas- i am not. :steamhappy:

PS:. The fellows at https://www.transportfever.net might help, if you can communicate in german.
JayBee1971 15 Jul, 2019 @ 6:51am
Just tried to restart with all mods turned off, only the Snow Mountain mod turned on. Still getting the error "unable to set up initial road network" (I have the Dutch version, so not 100% sure about the English message). Only with the "No initial road" mod I can go the map, but again without roads between cities and industries. And still some cities and industries are not able to reach with any road.

To give some insight: the shortest and cheapest railroad bridge between Bern and Locarno, at "city ground level" will cost about $5M. Reason is the height of the bridge above the water level.

I do say "city ground level". It could be that the rivers and lakes are at the right height, but everything else is higher than it should be.
JayBee1971 15 Jul, 2019 @ 6:32am
Thanks for the quick reaction.
Yes, the snow mountain mod is included.
When I do use the no road mod and I do set up the road network myself, there are industries and cities which are really unable to connect because the industry is in a mountain or the city is on a steep mountain side.
gax  [author] 15 Jul, 2019 @ 5:45am
Thats strange, the map should work with a working road network. I have no experience with the "no roads" mod, so i cant say anything about the river banks. Did you try starting the map with the
the adapted Snow Mountains Mod? (Link posted below)
JayBee1971 15 Jul, 2019 @ 4:57am
Hi Gax, great map! Seen it working in the Colonel Failure vids.

But when I try to load it, I get the error that a road network is not possible. So I used the "no roads" mod. The map loads, but I have to set up a road network by myself now. So is there another solution without the "no roads" mod?

Second thing I noticed in the "no roads" map is the river banks. They are increadible steep, in other words the water level looks to be very low. Bridge costs are increadible high because of this. Any known reason for this issue and how to solve this?

Thanks in advance!!!
gax  [author] 23 Jun, 2019 @ 2:15am
IIRC, i made a few changes to the Snow Mountains Mod by Somnium for my personal use and combined it with the map. Drop it in your mod folder and activate it, before starting the map for the first time.

I played this scenario for about 2 years ago and the map looks fine, but I tried to start a new game now, and got the same issue that scotianew discovered :(
gax  [author] 5 May, 2019 @ 11:16am
Thats really strange. But i didnt change anything, so there must be some other cause of wich i have no idea unf.
I recommend you to look for help here:

I have weird mountaintops, might be a problem with the heightmap.
Screenshot URL below shows the problem.

5 stars map. best one i've seen around here
gax  [author] 14 Oct, 2018 @ 4:18am
gax  [author] 10 Jul, 2018 @ 1:51am
Can you post a screenshot?
Thomas 9 Jul, 2018 @ 11:19am
Thanks, I still see weird mountaintops however... I've installed the Snow Mountain Mod already, any ideas?
gax  [author] 9 Jul, 2018 @ 10:45am
It only depends on what your pc can handle and how much you like them trees.
That were the number i think i used, but you should play with them a little to find what best suits your needs.
game.config.terrain.vegetation.forestLevel = 0.9
game.config.terrain.vegetation.forestDensity = 1.0
game.config.terrain.vegetation.singleDensity = 11.0
game.config.terrain.vegetation.treeLine = 530.0
Thomas 8 Jul, 2018 @ 8:14am
What forest settings do I have to use?
gax  [author] 7 Jun, 2018 @ 10:30am
Tekhu 6 Jun, 2018 @ 11:43am
wen du noch ne version ohne industrie gibt gibt es 5 sterne
gax  [author] 10 May, 2018 @ 1:43am
In the base config, to be found in X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever\res\config .
rb58nl 9 May, 2018 @ 9:19pm
where do you change the "forrest setting"?
gax  [author] 7 Apr, 2018 @ 2:48am
You need a snow mod. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=803323740&searchtext=snow
Apart from that, you might want to change the forest settings too.
blueyoda12 6 Apr, 2018 @ 11:34am
The map doesn’t look the same as I saw on the internet. Is there certain settings I need to change?
GalegoX 6 Feb, 2018 @ 8:53am
Yeah, sorry, I meant turn it up.. xD
gax  [author] 6 Feb, 2018 @ 4:30am
Its already turned down, you´ll probably need to turn it up a bit. :)
GalegoX 6 Feb, 2018 @ 2:04am
Oh.. Ok, I will turn it down, thanks for the tip..
gax  [author] 6 Feb, 2018 @ 1:43am
I turned it down a lot, after i had it at max for a long time. But now (1980´s) some places of the Swiss Alps have started to look like one big mega city and i had to erase lots of ugly skyscrapers.
GalegoX 5 Feb, 2018 @ 7:04pm
In the map mod? Why? I left it as it was..
gax  [author] 5 Feb, 2018 @ 8:00am
Youn might need to adjust the town growth parameters.
gax  [author] 5 Feb, 2018 @ 12:51am
You´re welcome. :)
GalegoX 4 Feb, 2018 @ 3:13pm
Great! Now it has that good looking snow mountains, and with the map mod the forest density too.. Thank you! and sorry for the bother..
gax  [author] 4 Feb, 2018 @ 5:46am
Steam deleted the correct link, so i removed the h .
GalegoX 3 Feb, 2018 @ 4:30pm
I use that one too, but it doesn't look like the pictures, can you copy/paste the config.lua from the mod? Also I can't seem to find the config for the snow mountain mod, the snow texture is set to somehow from 300 and it looks horrible. If you modified it, can I have that config too?
gax  [author] 3 Feb, 2018 @ 10:28am
I use Gwindas Map Mod, but i somehow cant post the link here.
GalegoX 2 Feb, 2018 @ 4:48pm
Nice map, can I have the config from the map mod you are using? I'd like to have the same forest amount as in the pictures (I've downloaded the snow mountain mod too).
