NOTE: Place the cursor to the RIGHT of the track in order to make the signal appear on the LEFT

Curiously, these are very very close to the semaphores as often used in Victoria, Australia. Victorian Railways while obviously of British design and legacy, used a lot of US innovation, couplers, bogies etc. The last one I remember near my place was replaced by a searchlight years ago but your mod is as I remember it.

@ The Flying Welshman - This mod is a mirror-image quick conversion of an American semaphore signal I made a good while back. At the time, there was no UK semaphore signals on the Workshop and I was asked very nicely to do this. No, it's not a proper UK signal. I think we all know that. A UK signal stand-in was all this mod was ever meant to be. :)

@ The Flying Welshman - I'm confused by your comment. Is the signal not functioning now? I test before I upload to the workshop, but I could have missed something.

Really like the look of these signals - much better than the vanilla :-)

Thanks for the help! I figured it out last night when I saw the custom option.

Whilst I don't want to beg for stuff, it'd be great if you could also make a UK Distant semaphore signal as a separate option. I know they'll behave the same way in game, but it'd be great for the visual effect of signal blocks, which should go ------Distant--------Starter----------Home--------Distant------ etc.

Lord Flasheart,
Be sure before you start your custom game to anable the mod in the mods pick list. If you're already doing that, make sure to start an 1850 game just to check to see if it shows. I believe there is a cut-off date. Hope you get it working.

Hi all - I can't seem to get this to appear in my game. I've subscribed on here - does it only appear after a certain date? I still have the German/American style semaphores showing up. I'm playing on a European themed custom map (UK map) if that changes anything. Many thanks for your help.

Norfolk_Chris,
I've made the changes you suggested and given you credit in the change notes.

Isn't the American one the same a direct copy with different words ?

Thanks for the additional info on these signals. I can't promise to have this updated anytime soon, but I will put it on my to-do list. Thanks again!

The rear face of the signal arm should be white, with a black stripe (corresponding to the white stripe on front face). Hope this helps.

BRILLIANT! Thank you very much for making those changes and giving all us traditionalists in Great Britain some great looking semaphore signals! I ran a free game, set up tracks and stations then realised the custom date was 1970... so only coloured light signals. Back into the free game in 1930 and they work perfectly - upper quadrant goes to the right height and drops down as in the American version.

You've made all us Brits very happy - many thanks and look forward to seeing more of your mods.

There are some basic images on Google - where else?! - that show angles of upper/lower quadrant signalling. It can be way more complex with multiple gantries and signals - which look great but would be a total pain to create for the game - and the Home and Distant signals. For this game though, simple pathing/routing signals are probably all that's needed. I'll try the new version and report back.

See if that's better, Mark. Like I say, I'm no expert on British signaling. Kinda' feeling around in the dark so to speak.

These are excellent - thank you so much. Placement is fine and they work perfectly, although if you want to be 100% accurate for British signalling there are two types of semaphore: upper quadrant and lower quadrant. On upper quadrant the arm raises to 45 degrees rather than the 90 degrees at present; on lower quadrant the arm falls by 45 degrees. I don't imagine you'll want to do both but if the angle the arm animates to could be 45 deg upwards you would be spot on!

Very cool, thanks modelcitizen :steamhappy:
