I'm sorry to say this, but I probably won't update my weapon mods since my work on the inevitable weapon megapack is nearly complete. However, this statement might change later in the future if I decide that progress on the weapon megapack is going nowhere.
Sorry for the inconvenience...
It's definitely possible, but the side effect would be that if you already research mag or beam weapons, then you won't be able to upgrade the mod's weapon, causing more problems.
This feature is fixed in the weapon megapack, however.
You can use this mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=848352589
Or you can wait until the weapon megapack is done, but you'll probably end up waiting for a while.
I can't say if I will fix that weapon at the moment, but we'll see in the future.
Probably the M249, since Yard's version on the workshop is old and ugly looking.
I did have a thread at one point, but I kinda abandoned it for now, since it doesn't take me very long to port a weapon to X2.
I'll probably do that when I make the Megapack of all of my weapons, if LWS next mod is an overhaul.
