I'm actually going to see a solution for this one. I managed to get the cube to the other side, but didnt manage to get both the cube and the laser on that room.

Hm, I enjoyed the puzzle setup here more than the one appearing in Stract's edition, I liked Lite more than this one (perhaps because it felt so cleverly compact?), but I preferred Stract's over Lite - so much for human rationality. Nonetheless it is neat to see different iterations of the same great puzzle.

Fantastic map, took me a very long time to see some of those moves. How everything fits together is genius!

In other words, if I had made THIS flingless version before working with Stract, he probably most definitely would have used THIS instead rather than the intermediate version I made before he started Hammering; the version of the puzzle you see today in his map. Just an interesting note about how this puzzle has evolved.

@Nobody No-One I've been seeing your comments, glad you're enjoying these. This version and toncica's version are way better than the original one I made in 2015.

Side note: I think the puzzle you see in Stract's map really should be this one rather than what it actually is because the optimizations I thought of when helping him make it (different sightlines to the light bridge + removed a fizzler) lead to the optimizations you see in this version (the fling surfaces + flip panel being removed). The reason he kept the fling in (and the ugly flip panel + glass + 2-block-high portal surface) is that he preferred the way it looked and didn't want to lose any progress he already made... The line of development was

Brave -> me -> me+Stract, toncica (separatly) -> me again

I think it's safe to say this is the most optimized version of the puzzle there is so far, cousin to toncica's. Lepo's version is actually the best.

Good modification. Thumbs up.

Excellent puzzle. This has been in my queue for ages and I keep on coming back to it. Finally gave up and started reading spoiler text below – dam, I’ve seen that move before (in one of Goat’s maps; I think), but it didn’t cross my mind here :(

I spent too much time on this one before and had almost given up and discovered the solution. This time it was different and I lost patience after four hours and just having played Sandyfied all over again, which I also was doing the hard way. I watched the video. :( But killer Saga map. I think you did a great job on it. Sorry for caving....

Nice puzzle, but it took me a long time. Thumbs up!

I actually really like the idea of jumping off of the cube because it's the only possible way forward when you think about how everything is connected. It's the only reason why you'd need the cube to be brough back through the airlock , which is the very core of this puzzle. :) Thanks for playing, Alm!

PS: The gel is placed there to prevent the player from depositing the cube on the ramp while they cross the gap (someone in the original Fast-Minded did this and skipped a step!)
Almisuifre 21 Jan, 2017 @ 11:25am
Solved intended (btw a 1 tile glass should fix the shortcut not too uglily). You set the layout carefully and it's very noticable. Having to grab the cube after jumping from it is not very elegant imo, but everything else was, so it's a fav.

Sooo the gel is placed here to...offer a nice shade of blue with the funnel ^^
RedSilencer  [author] 29 Dec, 2016 @ 8:16pm
That's a high compliment, I really appreciate that! Thanks for playing.

I was going to complain that the penultimate move in the blue funnel was kind of awkward to execute, but then I saw what you said to Almi about the blue gel placement, haha

Probably one of the best puzzles on the workshop tbh. Surprisingly long solution

Thanks, ivo! Really appreciate the feedback, sorry you had trouble with that last move. Thanks a lot.

I gave it a second go with another 2 hours. The thing I had been missing before was the one from 1:11 in the video.
After a while I made some progress. I'm so glad I figured out the cube transporting part on my own. Then I got stuck for too much time so I gave the walkthrough a second look. Jumping off the cube just hadn't come to mind. Only a minute after that I was behind the exit door.

There isn't much more for me to say. The layout is great; The solution is logical and feels satisfying; The little details look cool. I liked it more than your last map, even though they are both insanely difficult. Good job on this perfectly-designed brain buster!
RedSilencer  [author] 26 Nov, 2016 @ 6:53am
Walkthrough is up, by the way.
Almisuifre 26 Nov, 2016 @ 6:52am
Nice to hear it's unintended, I don't think it has to be implemented in a logic puzzle's solution.
Ugly quarter tiles on both sides of the surface is an efficient ugly way to fix it :/
For the faithplate, facepalm ^^'
I'm gonna give it a 2nd try to solve it intended and look for further gel reasons ;)
RedSilencer  [author] 26 Nov, 2016 @ 6:17am
By the way, the placement of the gel in this update is smarter than you think. If you could tell me why I say this, I would be thoroughly impressed... ;)
RedSilencer  [author] 26 Nov, 2016 @ 6:15am
The wall run is unintended; not much I can about it without making the puzzle larger than it already is or adding some ugly stuff to prevent it... I figured that would be obviously unintended.

You don't need to redirect yourself to avoid the fizzler, just hold crouch!
Almisuifre 26 Nov, 2016 @ 6:05am
I like that efficient design. Solved but, my solution imply a wall run trick Is it intended ? If so, that's cruel ;)
Also, this gel is ingeniously placed, the fizzler nearby force us to redirect the faithplate jump which is the only "weak" point of this nice update.
Some points preserving this map from occasionnal players imo, but it's a very interesting work !
RedSilencer  [author] 26 Nov, 2016 @ 4:04am
Thanks for GIVING UP, ivo! :D
Just kidding, I'll throw up a walkthrough video very soon.

After 2 HOURS of having made no progress whatsoever,
I used [sv_portal_placement_never_fail 1] and it was fairly easy to solve the puzzle.
It's a nice puzzle. It's a fun puzzle. Good work! Thumbs up! Added to favorites! Make more! etc.

Seriously though, I really need a hint. I'll probably just wait for a walkthrough video.

oh my gosh that was a crazy ride. thanks red for being so extremely patient. think way ahead. excellent map!!!
