Actually, I legitimately had code to prevent them from spawning; the problem is however, they are hard coded to still spawn anyhow in Survival mode.

It's a custom Mutation, those do not produce game mode specific achievements in MOST cases.

Those are forced by the engine, I can't remove them. In fact, if I remember right, and I do, the code to remove them is there, it's just overridden by L4D2.

Maybe putting the spitter and replacing the tank wouldn't be so bad since she can take the player out of his safe place whitout making a one shot (in single player) or putting the smoker, since both of them are for me the more realistic special zombies of the game.

There's actually a mod that goes well with this. You've heard of Nightmare difficulty and Fiendish difficulty? They are near impossible, but without common infected, it makes it still tough, but survival able.

I'm sure it IS possible to spawn more tanks in the finale, and spawning less items is possible as well, but both are out of my expertise... I'm not an expert at modding Left 4 Dead 2, as a matter of fact, I'm quite novice.

The finale wouldn't be impossible. It wouldn't actually happen... It would spawn a tank or two and complete (spawn vehicle). I don't know how to make the zombies do more damage, and making the zombies sounds silent would make me have to "remake" every sound in the game the same size with no sound, which would add approximately 1 GB of stuff to download... In the end, I'll work with your ideas to try my best to make them a reality, but I can't make promises it will be exactly as planned...

Ooh, maybe kill their sound too? So they are silent runners.

But yeah, its a shame you can't just nuke the amount that spawn aimlessly in the level. :/ But as always, thanks for sharing ideas with me.

Gotcha. So would the finale be impossible with no infected? Then I suppose you could just lower the mob size to single digits and buff up the common's damage so they are a bit more frightening? Like, they could be another "special infected" whose gimick is traveling in a group of 4, and having higher damage.

I know what you mean Critoniuum. As a matter of fact, I pre-ordered the deluxe edition because IT, LOOKS, GOOD! So I might put that as a tag somehow... Anyway, the mod. Because of the way the "new" mutation system is coded (I say "new" because after about 5 years now it still says they're new), I can't disable common infected AND have hordes of common infected in one go... Because of the way L4D2 is programmed, here's how they work:

There's a common limit, okay? When this limit is reached, no more can spawn. Still with me? Well, the "mob" size can only go up to however much it's value is set to. And if the limit of infected is set to 0, it will "spawn" the mob, and play music, however, it won't create anything because the game reads it as hitting the limit. See what I mean? In laymon's terms, mob can't spawn more than maximum common limit at once...

Also, with Resident Evil 7 coming out soon being about a return to classic survival horror, pitching this hypothetical mod with that classic tag may get more attention. You know, riding the hype?

Red Riding Moon, You would?!?!?! :D I'm sure people would play it if you pitch it as a more classic survival horror feel.

Even if all you do is remove the wandering common infected so they don't spawn in the streets anymore, that would be okay by me! ^_^ (Actually, having a random horde eeevery now and then would still make it interesting. Also the event hordes and finales. So only removing the wandering commons in the street could be the way to go. ) ps: I hope I don't sound naggy or demanding. If I could make it myself I would, but I don't know how. So yeah, if you do do it, it's your mod so you can do it as you see fit.

Someone should make a no common infected mod. Only specials, spawning at their normal rate. That would be more survival horror esque yeah?
