About versus survival icon missing. Well, I don't know others but this happened to me.
I followed the instruction on this site,

Install vpkedit, extract contents in this vpk, then pick any you like, change its name to menu_mode_versussurvival.vtf
Use add file to add it back to this vpk with this path set
materials/vgui/menu_mode_versussurvival.vtf
Save, and you're done.

Is there a version that just does the menu icons?

@devist8er replace the (dot) with a . and it'll work just fine. Just tested that now and the link still works.

@Ziggy updated the link but I dunno why it's asking for a decryption key when you can only do that if you have mega nz pro, which I do not have.

And download the file. Extract the file (You'll want a software such as 7zip or winrar for this) by right clicking it and selecting "Extract Files".

Next you'll go to programfiles(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/left4dead2/left4dead2/media

Drag the new files you just downloaded into that folder and confirm that you want to replace the files. It's recommended you copy the existing files first in case you'd like to switch back to them safely.

How do you download the animated backgrounds? Sorry if this may be a dumb question I'm getting into the more advanced side of this stuff!

i got the icon's but not the background's

i went to the animated backrounds and it said invalid decryption key

@JakeFromStatefarm you can disable music in the L4D2 game settings

can i disable music and only music, love everything but the music

might be something with urik's game menu but a disgusting noise when my mouse touches view in workshop, browse workshop, or apply changes, already rebuilt audio cache

understandable. i was able to get the .bik bg files to load in via extracting them with GCFScape into my media subfolder

@Yigs sadly with how the workshop works...I can't. if I just put the .bik in a .vpk and upload it to the workshop. if you subscribe to the mod, L4D2 will not install it correctly. hence why it has to be done manually.

are you able to post the .bik files for the bg as a separate mod?

@odstsnake the music should work once L4D2 downloads all addons after startup. if you want it to take effect immediately you just drag and drop the .vpk for it from the workshop folder to the addons folder. the background has to be manually installed (directions in the description) since steam just doesn't like installing .bik replacement mods this way.

@Danger Wasp Oh no, it wasn't malware I was afraid of...well a little but that didn't stop me. I was afraid I might delete a needed file or put one of your files in the wrong place. Normally though, I don't use non-secured software but yeah I trust the one you gave in the desc. Payed off well that's sure as hell!

To be honest I was always afraid of actually trying to get these mods to work with fear that it might destroy me game, but I tried it today and the animated backgrounds look abosutely amazing! Thank you so much for your work and it's because of you and many others that my Left 4 Dead 2 is a complete halo overhaul! Good luck to you and your endeavors! :3

I put the .bik file in the media folder and got rid of the original backgrounds but nothing's working. I used VLC and idk wat I'm doing wrong

Hmmm I try to looking for some dark and abit scary kind of background but this Halo backgrounds alittle bit close to dark thing I have in mind

@Danger Wasp could you send me a version of this mod without music? Because when I tried to remove it myself and turn off the workshop version, it suddenly finds unable to be loaded from addons folder, it retains the vanilla look. And I'm not happy that it clashes with MGSV Music Overhaul mod.

@darkfalcon59 once you hit subscribe and start L4D2 it should download the mod. once that happens, close L4D2 and open the workshop folder in your L4D2 directory, it should be located in the addons folder. once you find the .vpk with this mod just drag it out of the workshop folder and unpack it using a .vpk opener.
