Hey Martin, that definitely cannot be caused by a scenario, especially one with no mods required. Check your mods and/or that you haven't exceeded your RAM.

Hiya @katanfu. I made this when scenarios first came out. I won't have the time to make a city and add in all the scenario elements (they take a huge amount of time). I have lots of other things going on now. It looks like there are some nice scenarios on the workshop.

Another idea: you could also subscribe to a saved city. I've made a few of those, and they are all smaller cities / large towns with lots of room to grow, but mine don't have the challenges and use unlimited mods because I like the designing and wandering around my towns :D The town is already be set up, and there is lots of room to build more. Maybe that might be a way to look at someone else's city first hand, right on your computer, and get some ideas about how to build! It only takes practice and ideas from others, soon you'll be designing really well!

This looked really fun but i really thought this would be a premade town you had to protect
im not good ta making city's at all but im good and doing challenges in premade ones ik this isn't for everybody but do you think you can make a version hats a premade city? i know it sounds like much but i would really appreciate it if you do

Go into Options there you can move a arrow with the Mouse, if you want disasters intense or only the normal disasters like Lightning and rain.

Hi, all you do is start a new scenario from the main menu and select this scenario from the list. There will be a welcoming message and then you should start building your city. Certain things that you do will generate messages, sometimes rewards or penalties, and disasters can randomly happen, but they are programmed to happen after you have had a good amount of time to build up your city and get some disaster preparation ready. You'll need services like the one that sends out trucks to clear up water after a flood. For more details, a few comments below yours I explain some details about how the scenario I programmed works behind the scenes.

i dont get it how it works it would be nice if someone could tell me how i activate the disasters
gregpkennedy 22 Feb, 2020 @ 8:55am
wow hurricanes i always wanted to see hurricanes in cities skylines!
sinecosine 21 Sep, 2017 @ 8:53am
Thanks! I use a random number generator for the disaster (1 - 8) and then another random number generator for intensity ( 1 - 10) And it still catches the feel of the other savefile which did come packaged with disasters lol. Thanks for the help <3

Hmm, I'm not exactly sure if it's his More Beautification or Extra Landscaping Tools. One or both, but the two go togther really beautifully and he's always on top of his mods. You'll love them if you don't already have them. I hope you can use them in a scenario, but either way you will want these 2.

I wouln't do that! I thought about this a little and I think I know what's up. As time passes, there is a chance you will have an event. I think you've been very "lucky" so far. Unusual, but when I looked at the scenario parameters, it's possible. You have a chance to have a storm surge (tsunami) or hurricane (lots of thunder storms and lighting strikes), but these are only chances. When they do happen, though, watch out :D You can also use BloodyPenguin's More Beautification mod to automatically place any kind of disaster you want, wherever you want to place it. It's in a tab of its own with the hazard symbol. :) Better than starting all over again!
sinecosine 17 Sep, 2017 @ 1:16pm
Yeah, I do get messages. A lot of them are about a tornado that never happens o.e.
Ill try restarting the Map :p
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Sep, 2017 @ 12:54pm
If you're not getting messages and no disasters, that's very strange.
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Sep, 2017 @ 12:53pm
Did you start in 2017? Let's see... six years? That should not be! I don't know if there might be a mod interfering... have you gotten any messages with rewards or fines? Those should also come along now and then
sinecosine 17 Sep, 2017 @ 10:31am
I've been on this map and been stuck for a very long time.
I have 70K population and it is 2023. The only disaster I had was the small thunderstorm at the start of the game.
Any help?
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 Jul, 2017 @ 6:48am
Great! Good to know, because I spent a lot of time "driving around" on Google Earth. I don't think I could sleep easily there, having seen what the side of the levees look like from street view! That's really high up, above the houses!
Waka Floppa Flame 9 Jul, 2017 @ 12:53pm
I can confirm that this is what New Orleans is like
Pigio 28 Jun, 2017 @ 8:40am
i like lousiana
MrMiyagi  [author] 27 Jun, 2017 @ 1:26am
There is indeed something related to crime in this scenario :)
The Unrest Cure 25 Jun, 2017 @ 7:18pm
Can't wait to try this; as a resident New Orleanian will it include our high crime rate as a natural disaster? ; I All jest aside, it looks awesome. Good work!
MrMiyagi  [author] 21 Feb, 2017 @ 3:45pm
Hi bobwiese, I don't think you need to have them on. These disasters trigger based on actions you make, so I'm sure you'll be fine with it turned off. Just know that it will take some time for the first ones after that first little thunderstorm. I did that so that you have time to build up a budget and enough services.
lazacar 8 Feb, 2017 @ 5:08pm
are we sposed to have random diasaters on
A Rhinolined Jeep 5 Jan, 2017 @ 4:03am
and the lack of city specific buildings to go with it is killing me, cause i quite like this map, one of my favorites actually
MrMiyagi  [author] 5 Jan, 2017 @ 2:11am
Indeed, Grand Duchess, it was killing me to not include other parts of the city... but it would have made everything into hobbit scale :D
A Rhinolined Jeep 3 Jan, 2017 @ 2:47pm
really wouldn't mind an extension of the base map to actually include New Orleans East (for industrial districts) and a little bit of the Lower Ninth and Arabi, maybe a bit of Belle Chasse and Terrytown for low scale shops and residential
A Rhinolined Jeep 3 Jan, 2017 @ 2:45pm
not impossible, just really difficult and slow, hell we're STILL recovering from 2005, lol
laika 18 Dec, 2016 @ 7:00pm
Lmao I live near new orleans, definitely not playin this shit I know it'll be impossible
Idaho 14 Dec, 2016 @ 9:43am
Looks fun!
MrMiyagi  [author] 4 Dec, 2016 @ 6:17am
I'm sorry I don't understand what all that means earthyelevatorfan. Are you not getting any disasters? Too many?
Voidedviper 3 Dec, 2016 @ 10:49pm
i get like more population... Hurricane messages.... Storm Surges pass.... RAGE.... and try again :steamfacepalm:
sffc 3 Dec, 2016 @ 2:21am
Incredible work! I've spent a lot of time in New Orleans and there are so many little details on this map that are exactly how I remember them, all the way from the canals to City Park to the new I10-Causeway interchange! Can't wait to start playing on this map.
Hampi 2 Dec, 2016 @ 8:19am
Nice scenario! All the messages are very funny :D

Have just had some smaller thunderstorms and one severe one. Yet to see a major hurricane! Hope one comes soon so I can see how my disaster plans are working.
MrMiyagi  [author] 1 Dec, 2016 @ 11:22am
Lived on the Gulf Coast of Florida for a while. A slight breeze and we'd have sea water lapping at the back door :D :/ :( sigh.. Beautiful region though
Krazy Crayon 1 Dec, 2016 @ 9:17am
As someone who lives in new orleans, this is accurate
MrMiyagi  [author] 1 Dec, 2016 @ 1:06am
I also build that way, so this scenario will maybe be a good fit for you.. You're a long way off from a major disaster trigger. I hesitate to give out the triggers, but I can tell you that at your current level, I'm pretty sure you will be unabe to trigger a major disaster with a city that small. If you *do* manage to trigger with a pop that low, you'll still be more than able to handle it because of another parameter.. You have to hit multiple variables to get them to trigger. Build away, as fast or as slow as you like! :)
Ltsanta96 30 Nov, 2016 @ 7:53pm
This is amazing man im really having fun with this, especially learning that vocab but when do disasters trigger i like to build slow so im only at 6k pop rn?
MrMiyagi  [author] 30 Nov, 2016 @ 11:12am
Hi Joshdelrey! Actually the thunderstorm is one of the disasters ;) but I set it to low damage on purpose. The other disasters have the chance to start happening after 52 weeks. I did that to give you some time to build up a city and its services.I can give you a hint to get more things triggered. Save up lots of money. :) The wrath should start raining down on you.
Aside from that here's something you might be able to try. Can you go to the options menu, hit gameplay, and then put random disasters on? You can also select how often. I hope this works to allow you to have more disasters if you want them, but I'm not sure if it will do that in a scenario. This scenario disables unlock all and unlimited money, so I'm hoping it doesn'T also disable random disasters. Let me know if this works for you! :)
Joshdelrey 30 Nov, 2016 @ 10:34am
hey is it possible to tell people the triggers just i have 16,000 pop and have onyl had lughting storms and im missing the disaters.
MrMiyagi  [author] 30 Nov, 2016 @ 8:51am
Hi gleeful partridge! I'm glad you got a few of the planned events, that means it's working so far. Thanks for helping by letting me know!!!. The one with storm surge is supposed to be dramatic, so that one has very limited, multiple parameters. If you have had a tsunami alert on the radio yet didn't see any result, this could mean that I didn't know how to properly design the tsunami side of it, or maybe it's only happening up in the way north (that's where I placed the tsunami triggers by the way) and it doesn't reach you way to the south, or that you just haven't reached the limited multiple triggers required for that big event. I hope the other disasters are working well for you, though? Lots of lightning I hope? :D
gleeful.partridge 30 Nov, 2016 @ 7:48am
Love the map. The events and messages are a lot of fun too. The only issue so far is that the tsunamis/tidal surges don't do anything visible. (I've gotten $20k, $100k, and $150k from mawmaw, and had an event-driven meteor strike, but there has been no flooding whatsoever.)
Quad Rioters 30 Nov, 2016 @ 6:40am
Tsunami level 7 just cleared my entire city on each island... that map is brutal. :bbtcat::bash::orb:
MrMiyagi  [author] 30 Nov, 2016 @ 5:25am
:D Keep on hoppin, Quad, keep on hoppin!
@knighthawkGP nope! I got beaten. My right to make a post that says "FIRST!" was claimed by four others. My internet life is now over. LOL But seriously now, allow me to make one more groveling, adoring praise for your part in keeping us tree lovers happy!! Saw you guys updated unlimited trees!
