Yes you can paint these. First apply them to your armor, then paint them.
Sebastian 29 Dec, 2020 @ 3:53pm
can you paint those then i would love to use them on my server
Messajah 1 Oct, 2020 @ 12:19pm
@Blake: The "Skin" after the name is excellent. These are SKINS. And it makes it possible to search for SKIN in your inventory and drop them on the ground. And if they didn't have "Skin" in the name then you would never be able to tell that you've skinned Armor A into looking like Armor B, since its merged title would just say "Armor B" and you'd get confused. So no. Don't be short-sighted. Keep the "Skin" title forever. Thanks mod author for thinking of these issues!

please for the love of god remove "skin" from the name.if its a skin, it will say it after the name

This is a super cool mod, but i have one complaint... Why isn't there tek skins? i like Halo and i want some halo skins, but there isn't any mods for it, so i went to the next best thing which is tek armor, and as you know, tek takes forever to get, so i wanted some tek armor skins but there is none. Please add tek skins

Does this mod still work properly? I have S+, Ancient dragons/wyverns mod, a stacking mod, dino tracker and 6 other mods and I'm worried since this mod hasn't been updated in a while that it will conflict somehow.
VKTouchdown 13 Jul, 2019 @ 1:27pm
I know it may never happen or be read, but please god I'd adore if you one day added the gas mask. I just like the way it looks.
Wyrm 17 Mar, 2019 @ 7:27pm
@Tamardia That already exists in the form of the birthday shirt/pants skins.
SweetCarbonatedLemonLimeDRANK®™ 7 Mar, 2019 @ 3:40pm
Was the scuba ever fixed? I'm looking for a mod that lets you use the default scuba legs as a skin.
Tamardia 10 Feb, 2019 @ 9:12pm
Is there any hope for a "nude" skin, aka your average "woke on the beach" skin, not actual nudity? I play on an RP server, and I would love for my char to not wear a shirt at all... But it's also a PvP server, so for the sake of my prolonged life, that is not really viable.
Drdinobub 29 Nov, 2018 @ 12:59pm
Thank you for deciding to continue working on this I would have made a mod like this but the dev kit is way more complicated than I thought. Also no rush just work on this whenever your bored or want to work on it or smth.
Wes 21 Nov, 2018 @ 1:05pm
We'd really appreciate it. Its one of the lightest and no-nonsense skin mods out there and gives our RP server the flexibility to customize looks without compromising the armor they want to use. We've had zero issues using it so far on Extinction. :)
Kalistrasza  [author] 21 Nov, 2018 @ 8:04am
Rather surprised that people are still using my mod, and that it even still works properly. Or that someone hasn't gone and made their own version. Well, arright. Even if I'm not actively playing ARK at present, I do still support it. It's got memories, and a special place in my heart. That's enough to warrant updating this little contribution I made to the game. No promises on an ETA, but I'll work on it and see what I can do about picking back up where I left off and adding some of the requested things to it.
Wes 21 Nov, 2018 @ 5:13am
Hey Kaliya. We really enjoy your mod and would like to know if you're still working on it, and if you plan to add armors like the rad suit?
Drdinobub 6 Nov, 2018 @ 11:44am
Are you still working on this?
Goober Mensch 13 Oct, 2018 @ 3:29pm
Will the gas mask ever be added as a skin?
Wheezie Febreezie 6 Jul, 2018 @ 10:27pm
I am a big fan of this mod and have used it in the past, but I noticed an absence of mods adding skins of the Aberration hazard suit. I would appreciate it if you could fix? Thanks in advance!
TheAngrySquirrel 3 Jul, 2018 @ 10:30am
This was just a heads up, btw. I'm still working on a mod of my own, partially to fill that particular gap, and partially because one of the requests i keep getting is armor skins that provide effects, such as a ghillie skin that makes the user less detectable, or a scuba tank that functions while attached to armor.
TheAngrySquirrel 3 Jul, 2018 @ 10:27am
@Kamwyn after exploring in the dev kit, working off of your hints, I've discovered that Pikkon is correct, the skins have an "Item Skin Use on Item Classes" parameter, which can be set to allow use on various items, the important tidbit here is that, unlike all other helmets, PrimalItemArmor_TekHelmet is not a child of PrimalItemArmor_BaseHelmet, so it has to be added separately. The same applies to all tek armor items.
Turns out Amazonia cloned the vanilla tek armos peices, then reparented them to PrimalItemArmor_Base* so they could be used with unaltered skins.
Kierantheking 29 Jun, 2018 @ 3:12pm
any chance you will ever add underwear skins and hazard, that would be gnarbuckle
The Rickest Rick 28 Jun, 2018 @ 12:37pm
So this gives the effects of the armor ? Like ghillie no detect til up close for wild Dino's?
Kalistrasza  [author] 26 Jun, 2018 @ 6:29pm
Both of the former mods sound akin to what I was talking about - they made their own versions (be it the Creator version, or Amazonia's skinnable version) of the TEK Armor with the skinnable flag turned on, instead of the vanilla TEK Armor. As for the mod that adds a Glider which -can- be attached to a Vanilla TEK Chestpiece, that does sound like something new or reworked in the Dev Kit itself to allow such a thing. I went on a hunt for the very same endeavor in the past and found no such means, but that was many months ago.
TheAngrySquirrel 26 Jun, 2018 @ 5:31pm
I suspect that this is a relatively new development in the dev kit, because that feature was only recently released in that mod.
TheAngrySquirrel 26 Jun, 2018 @ 5:28pm
Actually, there is a mod on the workshop that currently adds the ability to use a modified glider skin on any tek armor chestpeice that uses the vanilla one as a parent. I was using this, somewhat ironically, on the 'Creator' tek armor from Pikkon's Primal Fear mod, and he's the one that (mis)informed me of the skinning limitation. I was fairly certain he was wrong about the skin selecting the armor because I used to run Amazonia 2.0, which adds a skinnable tek shirt and pants that work beautifully with any skin, modded or not.
Kalistrasza  [author] 26 Jun, 2018 @ 4:59pm
This is why TEK Armor accepts -no- attachments, be they skins or the Aberration add-ons like the Glider. TEK Armor is not flagged to accept attachments. To enable such, you would either have to modify the TEK Armor by overriding the vanilla entries (thus creating a 'Dirty Mod') or by creating a duplicate, stand-alone version of the TEK Armor with that flag enabled. And that's not even considering the potential conflicts that could arise from allowing such to be done. (IE. Considering the TEK Pants and the Zipline Motor Attachment both require fuel and have a fuel gauge, I have no idea what might happen if you combined them. I haven't even personally tried. But things could go nuts or crash.)
Kalistrasza  [author] 26 Jun, 2018 @ 4:59pm
As for what you were told about applying skins to TEK Armor, you were entirely misinformed. The ability to apply skins to an armor is purely on the impetus of the -receiving- armor piece being flagged to -accept- skins. At the time I made this mod the absolute -only- entry on the Skin files themselves that determines what they can or cannot be applied to is slot type (IE. gloves, helmet, chest, etc.), and beyond that may be applied to any item flagged to accept skins and is of a matching slot type.
Kalistrasza  [author] 26 Jun, 2018 @ 4:59pm
Nothing in this mod is complex enough in implementation to warrant open sourcing it, even if I wanted to do so. All I did was make a copy of one of the vanilla skins (just about any of the hat skins will do), changed the slot it can be skinned to (gloves to gloves, chest to chest, etc.), replaced the new skin's Attachments entry with the Attachments entry from the -real- armor piece, and gave it the Inventory Icon to match. Rename the items, make Engrams for them, voila. Simple even for a casual modder like myself.
TheAngrySquirrel 26 Jun, 2018 @ 3:55pm
Kamwyn, is there any chance you might be willing to open source this mod?
I only ask because both as a mod developer and a player I'm interested in your implementation, and hoping i can make certain changes in a copy of the mod for use on a private server, as several of my players have made requests that I cannot otherwise grant (I've had several requests for the ability to apply vampire eyes to a tek helmet), and the other mod author i asked informed me (not entirely correctly I believe) that the skin had to be flagged to apply to the armor, not the other way around.
Drdinobub 5 Apr, 2018 @ 2:06pm
Ok I was just curious
Kalistrasza  [author] 4 Apr, 2018 @ 10:42pm
@Dubby - I've never played Extinction Core, so I'm not certain. However, they should function just fine on any piece of armor that has been programmed to accept skins AKA 'attachments'. Therefore, if they flagged these 'Prime Armors' as accepting attachments, then these skins will work just fine on them. A way to test would be to try and apply the core game's skins (like the various hats) or the zipline motor / glider to the Prime Armors, as these function under the same premise. This is also why Tek Armor does not accept these skins - they are flagged as unable to accept attachments.

@Bubba - Unfortunately, no. At least, not at the moment. I do not have the time to add all the new features that I desired to after Aberration's release. However, the mod in its current state should continue to function just fine, as far as I am aware. I do hope to update and add to it at some point, but I am unsure as to when this will be.
Chloe 4 Apr, 2018 @ 7:09am
Is this mod compatible with Extinction Core's Prime Armor? ie: Will the armor skins work on their Prime Armor variants?
Drdinobub 19 Mar, 2018 @ 12:56pm
Is this mod still being updated?
Lucifer69 22 Feb, 2018 @ 6:27am
Kind of an evil mod for pvp but still a lot of fun. No current issues. Thanks.
Caesar † 15 Feb, 2018 @ 4:32pm
please do the tek armor, not the appearance but to put on the appearance of another armor. sorry for my English
Ductape 13 Feb, 2018 @ 8:46pm
Ok thanks
Kalistrasza  [author] 13 Feb, 2018 @ 7:36pm
@Ductape - Yes, that sounds like an appropriate size for this mod. Perhaps once I add custom icons it'll be larger, but it is still of trivial size at current.
Ductape 13 Feb, 2018 @ 5:34pm
Can I ask is the file size supposed to be 452 KB, Im trying to find which of my mods are corrupt, thank you.
Vokun Vulon 4 Feb, 2018 @ 11:33am
Fair enough
Kalistrasza  [author] 3 Feb, 2018 @ 6:39pm
@everyone - Now that the Aberration update has been released for the kit, I do intend to eventually add the Hazmat skins, along with Glider / Zipline Motor combos. However, real life happenstances have delayed my ability to work on doing so. I apologize for the delay, to those who are waiting.

@Vokun_Vulon - Enabling the application of skins is not something that I can do. As mentioned in a previous post of mine, the settings that allow an item to accept skins is coded into the actual armor piece itself. Therefore, modifying Tek armor to accept skins would require overriding the actual Tek armor entries themselves, creating massive potential for mod conflicts and other issues. As such, altering and overriding base files is something I will absolutely NOT do for any reason.
Vokun Vulon 3 Feb, 2018 @ 5:10pm
Can you make it so we can apply skins to Tek gear though? I'm really just looking for something that lets me put the glider skin on a tek chestpiece, would be the best combo
Ninja Bunn3h 1 Feb, 2018 @ 8:12am
I would also love the hazard suit skins added!
Eliaz 21 Jan, 2018 @ 9:35am
Hello karnwyn!
I know that the ark dev kit has been updated with the aberration's additions, could you add the hazard suit skin please? 😇
Thanks for your work on this mod!
Yami Rafa 21 Jan, 2018 @ 8:47am
Karnwyn takes a look at mod Wardrobe skins
From what I saw of the armor he can do what you ask for
creator Murkablo
Hirnsausen 15 Jan, 2018 @ 7:09pm
Okay, thanks.
Kalistrasza  [author] 15 Jan, 2018 @ 12:50am
Not on a personal basis, unfortunately, so there is no one individual I could point you towards. There is definitely a large number of talented modders in the ARK community though, so do keep looking around. More cosmetic options are always a good thing, in my opinion, so I wish you luck! =)
Hirnsausen 14 Jan, 2018 @ 8:24pm
Well, thanks again, appreciated. :-)
Do you know any modders that could do such a mod? I would contact them then.
Kalistrasza  [author] 14 Jan, 2018 @ 1:56pm
@Hirnsausen - Ah, I understand now. Unfortunately, as much as I hate to disappoint, I will have to. I appreciate the compliments, but the truth is that I don't actually have any of the skills required to make such a mod; I have neither the tools nor knowledge to do 3D modeling, hence my statement of leaving it to other modders. This mod was created purely through data manipulation in the Dev Kit to make new Skin-type items, utilizing already-existing art assets that are present in the core game files. Because of this it is, in reality, a very simplistic mod that's entirely on the programming side of things, which is the main reason for its strict purview and having been my only real mod to date.
Hirnsausen 13 Jan, 2018 @ 11:37pm
Thanks for your answer. But I also need to apologize - I did not state clearly, what i had in mind.

I meant to suggest to create a new mod, just for fashion, costumes, wear and tear. :-)

And up to now, almost no other modders have created such mods. Only a few OUTFIT mods exist, and they don't contain interesting stuff. The admins, people on our two servers hope that you could make our wishes to exciting reality with your skills.
Kalistrasza  [author] 13 Jan, 2018 @ 6:47pm
@Hirnsausen - While these ideas could certainly be interesting options, they are outside the purview of this mod. This mod was created with the singular purpose of implementing Skin versions of ARK's vanilla armors - that is, the armors that already exist as part of the core game and its DLCs. Thus the creation of new content shall be left to other modders, who also likely have far more ability with 3D modeling than myself.

@Mantis - Now that the Manticore Armor skins have been implemented as part of the core game files, instead of via other mods, I could certainly attempt to create a Glider / Zipline Motor version of them, when I do so for the other skins. Whether it is possible for me to do so or not depends on how the glider and motor models are implemented; That is, whether they are additional attachments (that could simply be stacked on the Manticore Armor models) or directly incorperated into alternate models of the base armors.
