great system.
you maybe interested in 2 more complex panel ones, I have come accross.
also a reflector cube doing the infinity symbol, I did, based on geneosis's version.

UPDATE: The latest Peti update makes cubes behave like players when using excursion funnels. As a result, I have simplified the mechanism. The "pin" funnels no longer require to be turned off, which gets rid of the little bit on the side. I do have to make the system loop with a button however, so as to prevent it from skipping Z.

Not exactly... but "manual sequencer" sounds about right.

I've made some more edits with BeeMod. It's slightly shaky when you pass through the portals, but it's a pretty cool application for auto portals.

So I guess it's a manual sequencer which drives a 2 digit binary adder .

MAJOR UPDATE: I've just downloaded BeeMod (thanks for that, cyron43). I've used to make optimisations to the chamber. The old path to the mechanism room is gone, and you now access it via an auto-portal. I've also removed one of the excursion funnel/button combinations in the mechanism, as I realized that it was completely useless. I've modified the mechanism's shape accordingly.

I did that on purpose :) The PETI editor doesn't allow you to put spheres in the same unit as buttons, so I had to prop them up on a bridge so that the game would allow me to apply the changes. I could put the funnels and buttons the other way around, but then the funnels would interfere with the lasers, and I'd have to deform the room.

I've just made further modifications. I've changed the mechnism on the right side a little bit, and I've revamped the looping system so that it's activated by a combination of button presses, rather than the fourth excursion funnel.

MAJOR UPDATE: I've replaced part of the mechanism with a more efficient version. It uses less entities (and space), and it looks better too. All changes are shown in the third screenshot above.

@[NGD]Quadman450: Thanks. I'm glad you liked it :). I'm definitely planning on making more with this concept. I'm thinking I might cover an entire wall with designs from 8-bit video games, I'm just not sure which ones yet.

This is cool! I went down to where the excursion funels and stuff are, and I was amazed. You should make more, but have like a 4x4 flip panel, or a 5x5 flip panel. Very nice! I give it a 9/10.

@Timoteeei: Are you sure yours is faster? I tried it, and it seemed like you made it slower than it could have been. Great concept, though.

I knew I'd regret making my Z look stupid. I'm guessing you're from Russia?

Anyways, I'm working on a new idea for multi-pressing, and it could take the whole concept to new heights (hopefully). We'll see who gets the last laugh :)

Pretty nice mechanism ^^ But my "the amazing multi-press" still respond faster. If not count that i use a long distance for show how it works.

LOL, it the last letter looks like " i ", so the whole word looks like "XYI", in my country it can be read as "ХУЙ", what means "dick" :D

You can now use aerial faith plates to reach the observation room, and to get back out. I also fixed an error where the mechanism would not loop with one button press.

I've made a few improvements to the observation room. The OR gates are now in the same area as the main mechanism. I also added a button to control the mechanism from inside the room. I'm going to have to work on getting the four mini excursion funnel things into the main mechanism area.

That's a really nice display system ^^ It would fit perfectly in my map Minecraft : Crafting System ! But sadly I can't add more laser connections in this map...

Could you add a way to visit the mechanisms rooms without using noclip?

Will add it to the Map Creator Tools collection anyway, that could be really usefull ;)
