very cool.

Yeah, I did add some faint stripes, but I might make one more edit (I'm kind of sick of editing this thing now xD), and add some more patterning.
XSEIDET 12 Jan, 2017 @ 8:48pm
Would love to see some stripes on it tho :3 its kind like a theme with both the battlescared t-rex and nova

Thank you :)

Really cool idea with the busted up feathers :)
Necronomicorn  [author] 29 Dec, 2016 @ 6:18pm
Thanks :)

@Turner sorry, but I had warned that I was going to make changes, and I personally prefer the newer version.
BBQ 29 Dec, 2016 @ 10:04am
those feathers are MUCH better, good job on those
ShufflePlay 29 Dec, 2016 @ 4:00am
Wow, look at those wounds! Good job! They really got some depth in the cuts! :)
Necronomicorn  [author] 28 Dec, 2016 @ 8:42pm
I just uploaded the updated version and changed the pictures, probably won't edit it anymore, I'm sick of it now xD.
ShufflePlay 23 Dec, 2016 @ 2:41am
No problem and don't worry, you don't have to please everyone, that would be impossible! :D Do the changes you feel like doing and would benefit the skin in your eyes. :)
Necronomicorn  [author] 23 Dec, 2016 @ 12:23am
Thanks :) When I get back I'll probably make some more edits, and then update it on the workshop, hopefully no one wants it changed after that... xD

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and criticism, I hope that I can try and put this much effort into future skins, rather than trying to post them as quickly as possible.

I'd say it is definitely an improvement! Now if only it got some nice patterns to decorate the brown.. I could see the feathers being plucked by other Ovis when fighting so it makes sense that some have fallen off. :)

The scars and wounds do look a bit peculiar though if you think about how it would have gotten them in a fight; I'm not sure how the one on its face was formed, especially the branching part. :) While the legs are a nice and light area to have wounds in, it is also a bit of a strange area especially for scratches, maybe it'd have more like bite wounds there (from a beak?). Animals tend to attack necks and eyes in fights. But hey that's just me talking, I have a tendency to think about absolutely everything when creating skins!
Necronomicorn  [author] 22 Dec, 2016 @ 12:00am
Made some edits to the skin: http://imgur.com/a/0M9Io http://imgur.com/a/DqWsO http://imgur.com/a/86rbN http://imgur.com/a/obStz

Changes:

- Made wounds and scars darker and easier to see.
- Changed Opacity map for feathers (I hope that looks more like what people were suggesting!)
- Made scratches on beak and crest easier to see, plus added a few more.
- Added an edited specular map that just improves small details (I might remove this due to file size though, and it is very minor).
- Other minor changes.

Any thoughts, or does it look good now? xD Also, I'll be away for a bit, so it'll probably be awhile till the skin is updated on the workshop.

@lonemushroom Feet do have wounds, body is hard to do with feathers though.

@ShufflePlay Thanks for the tips :)

@Gadzooks I can make it look like there are a few scratches in the crest, but I think that's the best I can do, seeing as I can't really add holes and such to the crest.
primobrainlet 20 Dec, 2016 @ 1:58pm
it looks pretty nice, but I think the body and feet could use some wounds too
ShufflePlay 19 Dec, 2016 @ 6:52am
Tip for the scars (well wounds mostly); make a pitch black line as the deepest cut, and then apply dark reds around the black and then lighter red on the edges and possibly some smears or splotches of reds nearby.
Gadzooks 19 Dec, 2016 @ 6:47am
would it even allow you to have a little bit of a broken crest for ovi? or thats too much?
Necronomicorn  [author] 18 Dec, 2016 @ 8:21pm
The scars were difficult to do seeing as I can't edit the diffuse layer, they can only really be just red lines overlayed on the oviraptor. And yeah I'll improve the feathers and make the scars/injuries more noticeable (when I get time to do so, sorry if it takes awhile xD). Thanks for the criticism.
BBQ 18 Dec, 2016 @ 12:35pm
yeah the feathers could use some updating. rn they look like leaves that have been eaten by bugs and the scars need to be much more than red lines
Harry Nurpplez 18 Dec, 2016 @ 11:45am
The torn feathers are good but they could absolutely be even more so. Should do something with the head crest. Add more scars and make them look more realistic. It's a good start but far from what it should be.
XSEIDET 18 Dec, 2016 @ 9:45am
Yea me too Its a really nice idea. But I would love to see something a little mre realistic The scars need more then just a red line :) and the feathers need to be "broken better" Youll get an idea on how feathers work if you look them up ;)

Don't take this wrong i'm just trying to help

I really like the idea of having torn feathers. Thumbs up.
