While the Doom Eternal Cyberdemon is more accurate to it's original version, I kinda prefer this one over that. But to each their own.

Slendtrap, that would be pretty hard to do, considering there where a few sacrifices BlueFlyTrap made when Blue made it usable in SFM. I'm sure Blue would be able to do it,but there might be some complications for it.

Doom 2016 runs on idtech6. It uses the specular format of an abridged bidirectional reflectance distribution function.

Meanwhile source just uses blinn and lambert.


Idtech6 has higher base requirements to run sure. Between both engines on the same hardware, however, source runs worse.

Sfm is a less butchered source 2007 than garrysmod is but ok.

Also no that is not a fix. That's not how stored texture formats for dxt nor bgra work. Especially given 7.5 is fully compatible with directx8. Please do not pretend you know what you're talking about.

also a fix for the texture that might work is setting the dx level in gmod to 10 with .

idk all i know that i spammed the cyberdemon in gmod yesterday and it runs better than like 20 mlp models in one map where the mlp models litrally freeze my game every five seconds and the cyber demon just lowers avg frame rate 20fps

the difference with sfm and gmod is that gmod is just pure hl2 at the core with lots of scripts

sfm on the other hand has a shit ton of script and makes the engine bearly an fps engine anymore

Then you can use this as a legacy addon as is. It will be broken as hell given gmod doesn't support hdr vtf version 7.5 but it will work.

You yourself noted it's awfully expensive and that the only way it's salvagable is if you remove 80% of the files included and 50% of all vertex.

And if the only reason they want it in gmod in the first place is because it looks all pretty and the like then they wouldn't even get that.



So what reason do I have to do it?

also i used this model in gmod as a loose port
and my gmod doesnt drop too deep in frames
althou i have not loaded the textures yet but i dont i dont want to come off smart ass.
sortof agreeing and sort of not
while the model runs fine under regular gmod fine on 2 gigs ram
where the engine really buckles is rendering normals and specular maps
but after intital boot up render of the files gmod will run fine.
so if you guys know how to remove the specular and normal map renderers
it shouldnt kill your game, although it will look shit

Ok three things.

First. I taught the guy who does the ark models how the material system works. I'm well aware what he does.
Second. This is the cheaper version of the submission. Perhaps if you read that block of text above you would have realized that.
Third. 32bit programs can only hold so much memory regardless of how much ram you actually have. You could have 4 gigs or 32 and it won't matter. They both crash at the same threshold.

@BlueFlyTrap - You could always go down the route of what the user porting models from ARK does - Release the models with lower-quality textures so people with less beefy PCs can handle it, then include a download link to the HQ textures for those who can handle them.

I know how to port to gmod you know. I just heavily advise against it for the models that take up an absurd amount of memory when set up all pretty. Like, say, doom 4 stuff.

Source is 32 bit and all of it's compression is ass. Adding even one of these model to a server with a reasonable amount of addons already has the very real possibility of causing every client connected the moment it's loaded to crash.


Doing a poor job is the preferable course of action as those generally include way less files.

Dont worry, If BlueFlytrap allows it, there is someone porting all these models to GMod. So the original porters dont have to do the work.
