For a 4-k map wanting No-Industries you can replace the Industries locations in the map.lua script in Notepad like this;

local industries = {
{pos = { 5837.750, -9741.410 }, angle = math.rad(0.0), fileName = "industry/farm.con" },
{pos = { -3533.375, -9434.110 }, angle = math.rad(-75.0), fileName = "industry/farm.con" },
}

Okay.... How do you make thes changes... and would I also be able to play the map without industry? (I presume that this would be under the same settings)
Spearin  [author] 9 May, 2018 @ 8:56am
Cool, yes he is using this map! Although he switched the terrain to be the ugly brown :/

This is the map SlimGaming is using?

Also, the towns of Jarvis and Simcoe a little far west of Welland would be good additions to the map. The American Chesapeake & Ohio and Michigan Central Railways shared a mainline through here, as part of their line between Detroit and Buffalo/Niagara falls.

Great map, eh! I suggest you add some additional towns surrounding Toronto to represent the neighbourhoods that the railways served. There used to be several stations throughout Toronto and its surrounding neighborhoods very close together, which made it cheaper and faster than cars (at the time), and helped the railways make much of their money back in the day. Parkdale, the industrial center of Toronto before the '70s, is west of Toronto, with the West Toronto neighborhood being just north of that. Then North Toronto just north of metropolitan Toronto. Each of these neighborhoods had one or more stations serving them.

i really love this map, thought i wish the part of the island where billy bishop is located was a bit bigger so we can put in the middle level airport instead of just the dirt runway airport
rose4100 27 Feb, 2017 @ 1:21pm
Love the map, even though i'm not from Ontario (i would love to see a map made around Halifax, Nova Scotia). Very logically designed. The first map i've played where using truck, train and ship is a must!

Great map. As a resident of Erie, I have to lament that it is not included. :(

AuthorOfDestruction, Fort Erie will be included in the next version.

But yeah, seeing a food processing plant near brantford would be totally awesome and there's a ton of farms just west of brantford too. Just something to keep in mind. How are you planning to finish the Niagra escarpment and falls? I'm sure if we lobbied hard enough we could get the devs to put in a waterfall tool or something similar. And traffic signals/directors. always thought the game lacked stop lights. I'd love to see some of the other maps you have planned although I'm not sure what you could put in Seskatchewan-Alberta-Manitoba aside from farms. I'm really looking forward to the next version!
I need to stop being so long winded. Stay Canadian!
MonsieurFluffyPants 3 Jan, 2017 @ 8:32pm
Yes Argyll, Maidstone bakeries used to operate out of Brantford but recently, in the last three years or so, it was re-named Aryzta, and I haven't the foggiest clue how that's supposed to be pronounced. Same company, just a different name. (actually, I just looked it up and apparently Aryzta is a Swiss multinatonal company which bought Maidstone out. Those darn Swiss with their cheese and their business aspirations. Maidstone was much easier to pronounce. apparently it's french and is pronounced {Ah- reesse -tuh}. Weird. Anyways.)
Brantford also used to be the world's No. 1 tractor and farm implement manufacturing town. unfortunately, this doesn't exactly translate well into the game as there aren't even cars as a commodity, much less tractors. there's an old used-to-be factory building along the 403 where it passes under Wayne Gretzky Pkwy. that still has the words M A S S E Y F E R G U S O N sunbleached onto the side. It's pretty cool.
bluejetdude1 3 Jan, 2017 @ 12:27pm
Alright that sounds awsome, i understand about keeping the number of towns low and there are probably many towns bigger than stayner that are not in the map and thats fine but i would totally get the canadian names mod if it had stayner so that would be cool, consider myself subscribed to both :D
Spearin  [author] 3 Jan, 2017 @ 9:59am
Here is the link to the mentioned Canadian names mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=812596170
Spearin  [author] 3 Jan, 2017 @ 9:58am
Oh, sorry bluejetdude1, yes I did. I'm afraid your town is not really within the boundaries of the map, plus I need to keep the amount of towns to a minimum otherwise performance decreases.

However, I did create a Canadian town name mod and would be happy to add Stayner in there for the next update! That way, it would randomly appear when playing a Free Game with a generated map.
bluejetdude1 3 Jan, 2017 @ 9:55am
Not to push or anything but did you see my question?
Spearin  [author] 3 Jan, 2017 @ 8:04am
Thank you for the kind words, MonsieurFluffyPants! Isn't there a Tim Hortons plant in Brantford? Maybe I should put a Food Processing industry there.

I'm glad you share my vision for this map! I knew this area would create great gameplay. I certainly want to convey the industrial purpose of each city in real life, and teach the geography of this unique region we call home. I'm from Hamilton, and grew up in Dundas being surrounded by the escarpment. By day, I make games (shooters called Insurgency and Day of Infamy) so this has been a fun hobby project in the evenings. I already have a list of areas (Alberta-Saskatchewan, Manitoba-Northern Ontario-Midwest US, Ottawa-Quebec) that I would like to cover once I release this one as final, and time pending, want to investigate how to create a full Canadian historic campaign.

No monetary contributions necessary, but any gameplay feedback is greatly appreciated! Another version is already in testing.

Argyll (Cont'd),

This is all being said before I play it for the first time but I am immensly looking forward to it. I could see this becoming amazing things in the not too distant future and I could even see how this, coupled with certain other mods such as the quarter speed mod, could become an invaluable teaching resource for education on the history and relative geography of the region.

I would love to support you any way I could and though right now I'm a little tight on cash I'll definitely be considering monetary contribution when I become "liquid enough" to put it in the words of the fifth mission of the American campaign. That all being said, keep up the outstanding work and I hope to see your unblemished efforts blossom into even further fruition in the coming months.

Best Regards!

Argyll,

I'd Just like to start off by saying I legitimately teared up with joy when I saw this, this coming from the man who hasn't cried in two-ish years. I'm so used to Canada being overlooked in the global media and online that when I find legitimate, hearty contributions to things centered around Canada it feels like a miracle. I'm so glad to see my home and native land represented here.

If I may, I suggest you look into the industrial history of Brantford if you haven't already. It used to be a humongous manufacturing centre before it became the residential crapshoot it is today. (can you tell I'm from and live here?)
bluejetdude1 2 Jan, 2017 @ 12:15pm
Hey so i got the mod and i don't see my hometown of stayner, its a tiny town but i would definetly like it to be added, think you could do that?
Lowell 1 Jan, 2017 @ 10:29pm
Awesome map. Thanks for all the work.
Spearin  [author] 1 Jan, 2017 @ 7:43am
The heightmap smoothing issue is caused by not using all shades of the grayscale up to white. The heightmap is drawn by hand, tracing over the real life heightmap data. I've started on another version that is properly done.

I'll consider your industry placements for the next version. Thanks for the feedback!

=Question about the Food Plant location next to St. Catharines, might it not be better located in the open area behind-between Niagara Falls and Buffalo?
=Second item is Buffalo-coal, Niagara Falls-ore, Guelph-coal? If the coal and ore are kept on the Buffalo side, that means more shipping for sure...might need a bigger channel as I have a ton for fuel and oil with some passenger shipping already. Can the coal, ore and the industry they need be placed in the open area to the right of Guelph and Brampton?
=Next item is have you used a height map for this? Is there just a Grey-Scale of the same map area where you got your landscape from? Height maps will show the lines like the game has when laying track. Grey scale maps don't have the lines...just the different shades of grey that the game would use for the landscape height. I thought I might dig your map out of the files and throw it into photoshop and see if it can be smoothed and the lines removed, haven't looked yet.

This is a sweet map, perfect for all modes of transport within the game. This version is awesome, thanks for spending time with all the land edits. The smothing to remove the ripples is awesome and I love the added food and the smothing of many of the cliffs and plateaus. Did you make the land edits with the grey-scale image? I sure wish they had a proper map editor for the game where we could use the brushes and place industries easier.
