hey, is it possible to find stone on europa with this mod?
anyway i've been playing with this mod for years thanks for your work :)
Chrido  [author] 16 Mar @ 8:14pm
@NoseShot Sorry I didn't remember we fixed it. Darian is correct, meteors has been modified and should not contain silver or other scarce ores. Maybe your issue is due to mod load order. Meteors is in the asteroids definition file. Do you have any other mod that modify asteroids?
Darian Stephens  [author] 10 Mar @ 1:42am
Oh, really? Was that removed?
Chrido  [author] 9 Mar @ 7:02pm
@NoseShot Meteors has not been modified and will contain the same materials as the vanilla game.
NoseShot 9 Mar @ 12:08am
After having read through most of the comments, it seems as if meteors are still allowed to contain silver but no rare resources like platinum and uranium. What other resources are allowed to spawn in meteors?
NoseShot 8 Mar @ 11:41pm
I found silver in a meteor which crashed close to my base on earth. That should normally not be possible, right?

I used the mod with a brand new world.

i hope space engineers 2 has a system like this so it encourages exploration and i hope they add a endgame goal like a story to survival mode
Darian Stephens  [author] 3 Feb @ 5:29pm
This mod only affects vanilla planets, and asteroids.
It does this by overwriting the vanilla planet definition directly, so if anything changes them by, for example, changing the color of sunlight through the atmosphere, there's a good chance one will be overwriting the other's changes.
I'd recommend having this mod lower down in the load order to make sure its changes are applied.
HS_DRAGON ✞ 3 Feb @ 4:13pm
Dude, what happens if I install a Mod that adds new planets, will your Mod also affect the generation of minerals on the new planets?
EgoLast 27 Jan @ 9:16pm
I thought I installed this mod as a ore detector, I searched the planet for cobalt for hours , I spent hours searching for uranium in asteroids. I scanned every part of the moon with a detector for platinum. Then I thought if there was a problem with my installed mods, it took me 42.5 hours to think about this . This was the first mod, when I read its content I realized where I made a mistake :D
BZD 23 Jan @ 12:51am
It is my only essential mod, gives me an actual reason to visit the planets.
Currently setting up a gold refinery on the moon!
Darian Stephens  [author] 17 Jan @ 3:08pm
If you have any other mods editing the planets, they'll probably be overwriting SR's changes.
Even something as simple as changing the atmosphere color would do it.
You can make SR take priority by moving it below the other mods in your load order (Or was it above?), but then SR will be overwriting their changes.
Nice to see the mod being appreciated! It's a surprisingly rare occurrence lately.
Tuuvis Van Kraun 17 Jan @ 2:45am
Loving the challenge! However, I think I have another mod confusing this one, as I found silver and gold on Earth. So far with my current start, IRON was the rarest one I found... Asteroids only giving me iron and silver though. But, still, loving the challenges you modders give! (Will play another proper start after this, having too much fun, lol)
Darian Stephens  [author] 23 Dec, 2024 @ 12:34am
I'm afraid you'll need to deal without uranium for a while, until you reach the alien planet.
You've always got solar and wind, at least, and you can charge big batteries.
Hydrogen engines also exist, which can help.
serpenten 22 Dec, 2024 @ 11:33pm
any easier way to get uranium? I want to go to space but the power situation is heavy lol
tntingram88 21 Dec, 2024 @ 3:45pm
does this work with deeper ores?
SirFlutternutz 18 Dec, 2024 @ 6:02pm
The gold veins on Earth's moon are becoming increasingly disappointing in size as we increase production. We've chewed through about 6 whole veins now. Does anyone know if the other moons (or Pertam) have bigger gold veins?
Darian Stephens  [author] 19 Nov, 2024 @ 10:08am
@Verlian
Any mod overwriting the planet would break it.
This (probably) includes that seam fix mod.
Darian Stephens  [author] 19 Nov, 2024 @ 10:07am
@TheOofertaffy
That's been removed. The asteroid thing shows you only get iron and silver.
Also stone, but that didn't have the ability to be refined in to anything but gravel when the mod was made.
You need to be careful with your hydrogen management, have proper airlocks to avoid wasting oxygen, and maybe employ oxygen farms!
It also makes ion thrusters more desirable, since they can remove your reliance on hydrogen for space propulsion.
Verlian 19 Nov, 2024 @ 7:12am
Any reason why Scarce Resources would stop working because randomly I got gold and what not on earth...
TheOofertaffy 15 Nov, 2024 @ 11:30pm
Gotcha. Also one more question, are Ice asteroid still something you can find with this mod? I remember there were asteroids completely made of ice in vanilla, but i'm not sure if it's still in here with the mod. I've been to space with my survival, but last 2 times between going between the moon and earth, I forgot to pay attention to the asteroids. I checked this mod description but I hadn't seen anything on Ice asteroids.
Darian Stephens  [author] 10 Nov, 2024 @ 7:34am
Pretty sure it should be similar everywhere.
Sounds like you got pretty unlucky, or weren't checking deep enough.
Some might be too deep to detect directly with an ore detector, you may need to sample the vein a bit deeper.
However, if you look at enough ore patches, you may eventually recognise a pattern, and be able to guess which will have gold deeper down based on what ores are near the surface.
TheOofertaffy 10 Nov, 2024 @ 3:57am
Quick question, is gold more common on other moons than the earth like moon? It took me around 2 hours to find a single vein of gold on the earthlike moon and kind of wonder if it's even going to be enough to sustain my survival save if I can only find 1 vein per moon.
cy-one 27 Oct, 2024 @ 6:51am
Started a new game (Star System map, Earthlike planet) and the *only* resources I've seen were surface-rocks.
This was with a 1250m extended range ore detector and even cheating in an atmospheric ship to fly around a bit.
I will have to start a new game without this mod :(
Scorp0102 16 Oct, 2024 @ 12:24pm
i have started server with this mod already installed with creating new world but it seems to be not working because asteroids spawn with ores they are not suposed to can it be fixed within existing world or do i need to make new one
Darth Porgus 1 Aug, 2024 @ 7:25pm
@Müdavim you have to start a new world with the mod enabled
Darth Porgus 1 Aug, 2024 @ 7:24pm
Slurp :o read mod description
Joe Goldberg 21 Jun, 2024 @ 3:10am
This mod usaully works great for me but in my current survival world ive founf uranium in asteriods as well as like iron and cobalt sooo whaats that abt
Müdavim 4 Jun, 2024 @ 2:27am
We had a current save, then installed this mod, but after that, we found gold on earth. Just one patch, but we found it. Why do you think?
Pigs_of_evil 2 Jun, 2024 @ 7:54am
But whoever made the maps seems confused. Im at the "east" site and "north" is south of me
Pigs_of_evil 2 Jun, 2024 @ 7:25am
Just found cobalt on Pertam at coordinates on the map
CosmicDonut 24 May, 2024 @ 11:27am
Yeah, the planet definition file for Pertam has no cobalt listed. They need to update that file...
Archon Tubby 14 May, 2024 @ 3:42am
Is this mod broken? Worked fine when I've used it previously but I've started a few new games and can't find any cobalt on Pertam. Where the cobalt is supposed to be there aren't any ores at all apart from ice.

I've tried using the ore++ mode in case it was just deep and if I leave the cobalt area I start to find the other ores.

Seems that nothing but ice is spawning where the cobalt should be.
NPC 20 Apr, 2024 @ 3:25am
Ah ok ty for letting me know i did not see that part in the description
Darian Stephens  [author] 19 Apr, 2024 @ 9:26pm
That is totally normal.
Iron and Silicon are considered 'basic resources', and are present on every planet.

This is said in the description:
'All planets and moons have the basic ores; Iron, Nickel, Silicon and Ice, plus the additional rarer ores mentioned below'
NPC 19 Apr, 2024 @ 11:57am
for some reason there is iron and silicon on earth still when i have this mod installed
Darian Stephens  [author] 18 Apr, 2024 @ 7:32pm
Hmm, it might need an update, then.
I haven't really been following SE for a while, so something may have changed with the definitions.
MrTitans 18 Apr, 2024 @ 2:45pm
The mod that enables the ship trading on stations doesn't seem to work.
Nope 27 Mar, 2024 @ 12:43pm
I installed the mod on my server and my friend who built his starting base over a gold deposit told me that this gold is still there, but the undiscovered ore deposits seem to be replaced.
Chrido  [author] 27 Mar, 2024 @ 1:02am
@Nope Undiscovered ore deposits will for sure be replaced. I'm not sure what happens if you already half mined something, maybe it will stay as original. It depends on how the game saves the world changes.
Nope 25 Mar, 2024 @ 3:50pm
Is it possible to add this mod to a running world. Me and my friends have had a server for a few days and I found this mod today and I have to say I like the idea of being forced to travel to other planets, so what happens to the old ore deposits, are they replaced or are they still there after I install this mod?
Tiger 22 Mar, 2024 @ 6:43am
hello! thanks for the mod but I have a problem. When I traveled to moon to find gold I only found gold visual textures which contained stone instead of gold ores ..

What can I fo to fix that?

thanks :)
Darian Stephens  [author] 20 Mar, 2024 @ 4:20am
It should, if it uses the vanilla planets.
Rogue 20 Mar, 2024 @ 3:35am
Does this mod work with Star System Generator mod?
Darian Stephens  [author] 10 Mar, 2024 @ 10:24pm
@Scorp0102
That is a confusing message.
I don't know what you mean. You have this mod enabled currently and found gold on Earthlike?
If you have other mods that affect the planet, then they're probably overwriting Scarce Resources.
Unless the changes are done through code, only one mod can edit a planet, and any changes other mods make get thrown out.
Scorp0102 10 Mar, 2024 @ 2:16pm
hi i have this in server and on start of server it was only mod after that i added other mods so world should be generated using this as platform no other mods change or add any ores question is why my friend found gold on earth ?
Darian Stephens  [author] 2 Mar, 2024 @ 3:40pm
Or multiply, I'm not sure which way it goes.
Darian Stephens  [author] 2 Mar, 2024 @ 3:40pm
I'm actually not sure; I've not played with those values. You could just take the ice rarity and divide it by 4.

Keep in mind that reintroducing ice to asteroids does away with a big consideration for Scarce Resources, that being oxygen and hydrogen management, and the advancement that is Ion Thrusters.
If you can stop by any asteroid and scoop up more ice than you'll ever need, you don't have to stockpile, build proper airlocks, and ration your thrust, or have refuelling stations in orbit.
You also don't really need Ion Thrusters, except maybe for small craft, because you can just refuel off the huge amounts of ice you can collect and never really worry.

Depending on the quantity of other ore you introduce to asteroids, you can also end up easily skipping progression. Rarity, I believe, doesn't affect how MUCH of an ore you'll find, just how hard it is TO find in the first place.
Once you come across a platinum asteroid, or uranium, or whatever, you'll be set for life.
BENBOBBY 2 Mar, 2024 @ 3:09pm
Thank you both for this mod! Im trying to modify the values on asteroids slightly though, so there is still a small chance of finding some rare ores as its a fun part of the game.

I believe this is done by editing the VoxelMaterials_asteroids.sbc file but what are the vanilla values for each ore rarity for context please? Essentially I'd like the same amount of ice as in vanilla and say 1/4 the probability for all other ores.
Darian Stephens  [author] 29 Feb, 2024 @ 5:29pm
Yeah, you can just make a mod which does the same thing as this, changing what's in ore deposits.
I think there was a mod released semi-recently that let you do it with configuration files, without having to directly edit planets, but I don't remember the name.
