Hey. Since the full release and update of vehicles ect, the MML on yours or any others you've made need to be updated.
They added light switches ect to MML, cargo truck, MDV.

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=845489705 - this is a first rendition of the Time-Compressed Variant - tell me what you think of it - if it's too hard or too easy I can make adjustments based on feedback.

What I mean by radiation is, if the ratio is 1:1, and you are outside in the sun for 6 full real life hours, the radiation would accumulate for those full 6 hours at a constant rate, whereas at a higher ratio, you may have 1 hour of daylight at a constant rate, and then 1 hour of night for it to drop back down long before it hits lethal levels (radiation goes down slowly every minute you aren't being exposed to it). To survive at 1:1 you would have to stay inside or in the shade for long periods to reduce your radiation level. I agree that the time scale needs work. It seems like the game hasn't been designed for long term play, and many aspects of the game break reality due to that.

Also protip: Time Compression is horrible to your fitness; I can maintain good fitness in 1:1 for the entire time, but when i up it to 1:24 I'm in bad fitness before the end of the day :/

ofc by the time the meters hit zero in that case it would be too late - because if you had any time at all it'd be mere seconds before you died :p
Myst Leissa  [author] 18 Jan, 2017 @ 5:21pm
Technically the water meter on the medical scanner should not hit 0 until 3 days have fully passed (the recognized human limit) and food shouldn't hit 0 until about a week or two have passed.

Also I think the Time Compression system itself likely needs some additional balancing - after all i just went through a day and a half worth of food and water in less than 30 minutes in the same scenerio (which translates into about HALF a day with time compression properly applied)

I don't see how it's "more" radiation - if it ignores TC then it shouldn't be any different in either mode but you would get alot more drain on food/water/sleep as a comparison. Granted the amount of time you'd be operating in daylight would be reduced, still just did a scenerio solo on 1:24 Time Compression with Standard Multiplayer Setup - passage of night was what you'd call "unbearable" and it came 24x Faster....

I'd have to test it, but radiation seems to dose you at the same rate no matter the time compression, so at 1:1 you get alot more radiation too.

Yeah that's a problem. Between 1:4 to 1:8 is decent enough, giving something like 3 to 1 hours of darkness. I'm not sure how much food and water would be needed to compensate for this though. The problem with 1:1 ratio is that in the long term once you start to get your base established, 1:1 ratio would become unbearable. I'd rather just start with a little extra food/water.

@Delerium - if you have a suggestion as a better time compression factor I'm all ears - but remember that with higher time compression your initial supplies last for less time.

I finally crafted the small comms tower when I got my 3d printer to a big enough size (which is 2x2x2 large) and likewise that was needed to make the large refinery, which is needed to craft the lab kit (for the plastic). I'm still playing this map, as I love the minimilistic start. I'm just conveying the parts that seemed needlessly difficult (comms and resource mapping felt like something you'd have at the start) What I really love is that you need to progress to the point of growing your own food and getting your own water, rather than having that given to you. What I dislike is the time compression, because once it hits night, I'm stuck in darkness for literally over 8-12 real life hours. 1:1 time compression fits better for a server based multiplayer map and doesn't function well in single player, unless you like the dark. lol.

Also there's a lab table inside the MML - just need to craft the tool kit for it.

@delerium - I'll have a look at it; I really don't want to add a large comms tower as that is part of the challenge - but maybe a small one - but did you check ALL the crates? I believe I put the tools in some of them...not 100% Though

I like the start, but there are a few essentials missing from this map: Comms tower, drill/etc tools to prospect with, and lab equipment to test the rock/soil/atmos. Without those, it's impossible to map out the resource grid once your starting area starts becoming depleted. The comms tower and lab equipment can be crafted (long after your area is depleted of resources though) but the sample tools can't, so you are stuck without those.
