You're right about the area you've used for rooms, they were just supports. I like your upper level layout, and that conference table is cool :D nice addition of the extra connectors in the bays too. You're right about the station too, I designed it as a mining station, so small mining ships could do their thing, drop the ore at the station and continue while a larger mother ship did the back and forth to other stations. But as you have done, it is a pretty easily customisable frame, good for a orbital way point or halfway station or refuelling station, or anything really. I've modified it a little structurally in my private world, to expand the midsection to put stairs in it easier.
