What do you mean with "modern"? Most of my missions are present-day stuff, I didn't do a lot of 2035 scenarios. Most of my missions use CUP, though, which is mostly since I am one of the CUP members so I am somewhat prejudiced :)
This mission ( https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=711258027 ) is actually set in the Cold War (it's a mission from the original Operation Flashpoint campaign converted to Multiplayer) but it requires 12 people.
One thing that I found greatly enhances mission experience is having an experienced Zeus. The Curator can do a lot to improve the mission on the fly. Obviously, though, that requires an extra player.
If you like missions like this one, two more workshops you might want to check out are Varanon ( https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/varanon/myworkshopfiles/) and Stagwine ( https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/profiles/76561198026552294/myworkshopfiles/?appid=107410 )
Also, as you have found out the mission does not support respawn, actually none of my missions does. Personally, I prefer no respawn because it makes it more exciting and also forces one to get better at it :)
Varanon also publishes mission under the FHQ logo, you'll find his workshop here https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/varanon/myworkshopfiles/?p=2
