I cannot open a map in Hammer without it crashing xD

@Nalexa

Hah, yeah, the series is surprisingly popular. I guess either these levels are incredibly appealing and fun or I just got really lucky. Either way, I'm glad people enjoy them.

And yes, I use beemod, but I know the basics of hammer. Problem is that although hammer allows for more precision and creativity, making maps with it can take a while. It's just easier to make them this way.
Q 21 Jan, 2017 @ 4:22pm
BTW are you aware all 3 suggested maps are in this series? xD
Q 21 Jan, 2017 @ 4:22pm
Oh, you use bee? This looked like a hammer map.
blur  [author] 21 Jan, 2017 @ 4:20pm
@Calby

I use the beemod to create my levels. It's an add-on to the PTI editor, and adds new items to the game.

As for the main point of your question, I'm pretty sure Beemod takes the code of the reflection gel that's still in the game and replaces other assets of it with the logic of conversion gel, as Nalexa said.
Q 21 Jan, 2017 @ 4:16pm
@Calby The code for it is still in game, and you can use the texture of conversion gel.
ana spelunky (menace) 21 Jan, 2017 @ 3:34pm
How did you recreate the reflection gel? O:

I don't think the intention was that I was able to solve the last part of the test chamber without using the new gel. I could just solve this last part without the gel because I could still use the laser of the first orange portal. Suggestion to solve this problem: Force the player to first go to the chamber with the gel, by for example a button to open the other room, so the second orange portal activates; so the player can't use the first orange portal/ laser.
Love your work BTW:p2chell:

Nice map, well made and lit. Nice to see a rarely used element once in a while. Thanks for your efforts.
blur  [author] 19 Jan, 2017 @ 10:04am
Maybe you're right, but that ruins the entire purpose of bringing the reflection cube over on the platform. You could just go over and activate the other orange portal.

I'll see if I can move the retracting pedastol button closer to the cube button like you said.
prrg 19 Jan, 2017 @ 9:49am
You could just use a trigger instead of the button, I think. Or use a normal button (BEE 2.4 has buttons without the stand) with the timer set to infinite.

+Weeaboo-san

I'll do that ASAP :) The point of the cube button is to raise a retractable pedastol button which opens the angled pannels. Since the weighted buttons are togglable and the pedastol buttons can be activated indefinately, I needed a way to keep the angled doors open.

really good map, now use hammer and this will be awesome :)
prrg 19 Jan, 2017 @ 7:46am
Really fun, though I didn't get the point of the Cube Button. Maybe it activated something important and I just didn't notice because I instictively put the cube in the button, but I think you should either remove it or put it closer to the relevant element, since it just confuses the player the way it is now.

Thanks!
jandlml 18 Jan, 2017 @ 6:58pm
these are really fun maps
blur  [author] 16 Jan, 2017 @ 7:46pm
That would be an awesome element for the harder puzzles. Valve, take note!
samadhi440 16 Jan, 2017 @ 7:41pm
I'm liking that gel! I was thinking if they made a Portal 3, they should add a surface or gel that would reflect portal shots so you could hit a surface around a corner.
