That's an interesting idea. Not planning on working on destionations at the moment, but i'll keep it in mind.

i got a small idea. make a tall cave, take the suction cup and edit the model to a ice pick and make playes climbe to the top. im not a good modeler but i can make the pick if you need it.

That sounds tricky. I have no idea how I would animate the waves at least.

Now is there any chance you will do an ocean surfing experience?

This is actually an amazing proof of concept. I keep thinking about this Workshop map. Thank you so much! :)

Cool, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The best way to stop moving backward is to put the poles in the ground and holding them there, then start staking forward. Currently the skis slide equally well in both directions. I should probably change that.

I suggested this experience to a couple of chaps and we played for a while together on the mountain. So much fun! Perhaps I was too drunk to ski, but please let me know what to do when you seem to only move backwards at the top of the hill. Love it!! I can ski again!!

Great idea, I instinctively tried to do a snow plow to slow down before I remembered that there is no feet tracking (yet).

Updated with actual ski models!
Rectus  [author] 20 Feb, 2017 @ 7:27am
Thanks. Looking forward to any feedback.

wow I have to try this later today. haha looks awesome Rectus!!!
I can even see a compass on the ski poles :D
Rectus  [author] 19 Feb, 2017 @ 6:15am
Updated with new ski poles. This should fix the locomotion issues.

mega ginial:steamhappy:
Ganerumo 4 Feb, 2017 @ 5:34pm
Wow, yeah, that's an odd one. Thanks
Rectus  [author] 4 Feb, 2017 @ 11:47am
Ok, I found a possible issue now. Setting your hand models to hand or mittens will cause it to look for the ski pole position in the wrong place. I'll try to fix it, but as a workaround, switching the hand models to the normal motion contrllers whould work.

You can move both forward and backward along the ski direction. If it always pushes you backwards, it's likely the poles acting up. If you push ahead of you with them, do you move in the opposite direction?
derivator 4 Feb, 2017 @ 7:50am
I have the backwards problem, too. To go downhill, I have to stand facing uphill.
Rectus  [author] 4 Feb, 2017 @ 5:48am
Your height shouldn't affect it. I'm not really sure what would cause the issue. the poles are supposed to slow you down to a stop if you put them in the ground and don't move them, and only push you back if you push the ground ahead of you.
Ganerumo 4 Feb, 2017 @ 5:32am
I'm using a vive. It only occurs when the poles are directly interacting with the ground. It's so insistent on moving me backwards that even looking to the side or behind me ends up sending me back.

I managed to get on the slope once but instead of going downhill any movement of the poles would get me going backwards again. Maybe it's got something to do with my height ? I'm a tad short.
Rectus  [author] 4 Feb, 2017 @ 5:28am
Thanks for telling me. Does it do that when the poles aren't touching the ground? And what VR headset are you using?
Ganerumo 4 Feb, 2017 @ 5:21am
Broken for me. Any move of the controllers sends me backwards, up slopes and outside the boundaries of the map

Good news on the update. I haven't played any skiing games yet, and I actually tried crouching to see if it did anything. Maybe placebo but I thought it did slightly(before the update).
Rectus  [author] 2 Feb, 2017 @ 12:31pm
That's awesome to hear. I updated the map with some new sounds and tweaks to the physics. Crouching reduces drag a bit now, especially when you're in the air.
Jason 1 Feb, 2017 @ 11:58pm
Wow! I am a long time skier with a family now that doesn't ski. I was so dissappointed that all the skiing games did nothing to get the body controls right. YOU DID IT! This is by a landslide the best skiing experience on VR now!
Vega ♡ 29 Jan, 2017 @ 8:39pm
well done :steamhappy:
RED-FROG 29 Jan, 2017 @ 2:01pm
Fun!
Rectus  [author] 28 Jan, 2017 @ 7:11am
Thanks!
Ben Dover 28 Jan, 2017 @ 7:07am
Really looking forward to trying your experiences, when I (hopefully) get an HTC Vive later this year!
Ben Dover 28 Jan, 2017 @ 7:06am
Good job as always, Rectus :D:
