I mean, it says something when I can beat Harbinger's maps on Hard even with Enemy Multiplier on, while this garbage gave me Carpal Tunnrl with how boring and repetitive it is not even 1 third of the way in.
On a more related note, there is no benefit to making a map that large, encounters become stupidly easy (and really boring) because of how far away the enemies spawn and the size has a very noticable effect on performance. Tone that shit down, make it more like the old version. If you want something that's bigger and with more enemies then show decorum while making it and don't advertise it as a remake.
This is a tip, maybe would be better if after beating the boss, the doors open instead of teleporting, because it confuses (the same with the later animation).
Don't take this wrong, just take this as a constructive criticism to improve the map.
About enemies, well, seems to me that there are parts where there is too much spam of enemies (especially in the corridors) in SS3 and Classic version (Btw, SS3 guns with the classic version it isn't a good idea)... And I looked with cheats at the enhanced version and it's really insane, I think it's impossible to do it in SP mode.
If anybody really needs some help regarding level design I am always available. Just comment on my profile and I will be able to help. There are also many other experienced mappers out there like Noam, Mauritsio, Pan, ZynC and more
Tch...criticizing 7smoke as being a bad place is so typical these days :V
It's not 7smoke which exports bad maps, it's the people trying to create something. Check mine and you will say otherwise soon enough. Let it be bad and poorly designed, they are just trying. Serious Horsam especially was done in a bad way on purpose.
I am mapping since 8 years now, got a lot of experience, I am both a member of Seriouszone and 7smoke and I am honest, this map needs a god damn lot of improvements, while I respect the work put into it, the shear size of the map is too much, the enemies spawn almost endlessly at points (especially the kleers near the end).
But he tried and that's what counts.
And numerous testings show that my maps are pretty well balanced, some are in need of tweaks yes, I'm aware of that.
Now can we stop acting like triggered white knights trying to claim something is good when its not and let the man fix the map?
On topic, I don't think this map needed to be 'remade'. The layout of the Grand Cathedal is simple enough that you could probably use your own environment assets. I was a bit disappointed when this map turned out not to be a faithful recreation to the original.
I played almost every map on the workshop on normal difficulty and I managed to complete quite a lot of maps on serious as well (one damn good example is Sand Sparta - oversized, but it looks just right and dare I say 'visually epic'). Some of your maps (I was thinking about the tennis ones as you mentioned and I can say most of your maps, except a few that bugged me hard, thus why writing, are somewhat interesting). I also like epic/giant landscapes as long as the textures are fine looking. It's the encounters that are not fair some of the times.
And why the hell do your entire group has to raid my profile whenever I criticize any of you. Are you gay buddies or something?
Some maps spawn enemies so far away that fights are trivial, some maps spawn enemies so far away they don't even see you. This one spawns them so far away that they're outside draw distance.
Please, go ahead, tell me which of my maps are more horrible than this, surprise me, I insist, because apparently the consumer knows more about mapping than I do, and if you say Tennis 2 and 4 then congratulations for stating the obvious!
On topic: The map is decent, could use some work on textures and the amount of ammo. Thanks for creating a classic!
Oh boy oh boy where to start, oh I know, the ground textures, they stretch horrendously and makes it look ugly, and I notice there's no road, multilayer....Anyways, the lens flare is too damn bright and can obscure your vision, and wtf is with you and wide ass areas!? As you can tell from the comparison it's too damn wide and big for the area, shrink it down to fit SS3'S slower movement and it makes the enemies unable to see you, and the enemies oh god the fucking Kleers ! Why does this map have 3x as many as in the original, and some spawns last a really long time, nobody wants to slog through 3674 enemies, and why the hell is Ammo dropped randomly, you'd never run out and have any challenge! .
The Good-
Well, you did show that your at least competent at using tactics and spawns, and the Layout is faithful to the original.
Models/Textures:
- Medieval Battlegrounds (Biomechanoid)
- Grand Cathedral Classic Survival (Rabbit.ecl)
- Fatums World (SeriousCsaba)
Like FiB said, check that it's in the correct location and if it still won't work, remove it altogether
I think you need to take a loot at your .gro file again and make sure that file is in the correct location.
Can't wait to play this! Although I'm afraid to face the same error as Maksman did :/ Hope you fix it soon.
Thank you for your efforts ;)
