could this be used to track players?
43770gaming 28 Jul, 2019 @ 12:13pm
This could be useful on Missions, if you have something like a favorite chest. Before I learned how to mod or even use admin mode, I farmed pixels from this specific chest that would have a mask that sold a good price.

Also, it would make the 'return to earth' mod easier

(There's currently (2019-06-19) a starbound bug (on the 1.4.1) that displays quest prompts that shouldn't be displayed, sorry for the annoyance! Can't do anything about it, waiting on a fix from chucklefish :CatWish:)
🐱  [author] 15 Jun, 2019 @ 1:48am
Ah yeah, if the server doesn't have the mod it won't show up in the shop, since the shop's list is handled server-side (but the mod itself will work fine, since all the scripts are client-side). I thought I wrote that in the description, sorry :KittySkas:
Sarelth 15 Jun, 2019 @ 12:35am
I was on a server when I noticed the item missing now that I think about it, so I went to single player and it worked fine. I probably should have thought about that.
🐱  [author] 14 Jun, 2019 @ 2:48pm
@Sarelth: how does the mart' changes? Just new items? The way I patch the item in shouldn't be subject to any incompatibilities unless another mod straight-up replaces the shop's config file instead of patching it too

You could check which modded items are in the shop and figure out which mod they come from; or you can just go into admin mode and spawn this mod's item directly

Love the mod and had no problems with it till recently. One of the mods I am using modifies the Infinity mart and the questmarker item is not in the list. I am not sure which mod changes the store. Any help would be appreciated.
🐱  [author] 24 Jul, 2018 @ 6:51pm
That's how it works; when you abandon it, it stays in place but also makes a new "bookmark" quest.
Aravox 22 Jul, 2018 @ 1:31pm
when i abandon the quest of the original BookmarkQuest as it tells me to, it doesn't abandon and i don't get some option to make a new quest or whatever..... Is this broken?
Frenchiveruti 24 Jun, 2018 @ 1:37pm
Can you implement a mod in the same way, but for when an NPC gives you a quest, it stores the coordinates of the planet the NPC is from? Sometimes a bunch of NPCs give you a "please grow this crop that takes 90 years to grow and bring it to me" and you leave the planet to actually do that, but then can't remember which planet of the plethora of markers you have the NPC is from.
Thanks.:steamhappy:
🐱  [author] 5 Jun, 2018 @ 10:18am
Alright; that's done! Thanks for the reports and your opinion :Neko:
Serath 5 Jun, 2018 @ 10:09am
I think the first option would be better. The second option sounds like scripts that would never go away.
🐱  [author] 5 Jun, 2018 @ 6:17am
Ah, right, didn't thought of that; currently, it'll only stop once you actually go near where you died.
Would you prefer if
- abandonning the quest would also make the Memento Mori stop remembering where you died, or
- the quest would only pop again once you're on the surface of the world where you died, and only actually disappear once you go there (or if you die again somewhere else), but removing the quest will keep it away for as long as you don't go to that world (That's how it works with the"vanilla" Memento Mori, I believe)?

Thanks! :CatWish:
Serath 4 Jun, 2018 @ 6:33pm
I seem to keep receving the quest everytime I change areas. (Ship, planet, ship, etc.)
🐱  [author] 3 Jun, 2018 @ 6:37pm
Aaand should be fixed now! Only "issue" is that the memento mori won't stop glowing until you've changed your held item, because I can't force it to "refresh" and it keeps the death position in it's own "memory". :CatWish:
🐱  [author] 3 Jun, 2018 @ 5:14pm
Ah, yeah; I did read that FU and Memento Mori weren't compatible anymore, but I didn't thought much of it. They changed how the Memento Mori works, so I'll have to adapt my stuff too. Thanks!
Serath 3 Jun, 2018 @ 12:31pm
Having trouble finding the "Death location" quest. I have Memento Mori, or more specfically the FU/Crystalline Skull version, but a quest that points to my location is not appearing.

Skull in hand, I'm at the death location, no quest.

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1402151620
Abandoned the quest to mark it. Quest is still a generic bookmarker quest and not actually pointing to the death location, or at least, not "saying" it's a death location. (Yes I know this would be pointless to do anyway if it did work, but since it isn't...)
Sgt.Panda 8 Apr, 2018 @ 8:35am
teleport to quest??
🐱  [author] 2 Jul, 2017 @ 7:22am
It would, but that'd require rewriting some parts of the quest scripts and isn't really in the scope of this mod
graublau 2 Jul, 2017 @ 4:14am
Would it be possible to add the distance to other quests (like NPC quests, not bookmarks) as well?
🐱  [author] 30 Jun, 2017 @ 11:09am
It already only shows bookmarks (& quests) from the server you're at only, and no, I can't change how the quest interface works; that's hardcoded stuff
TomyVerceti 30 Jun, 2017 @ 11:07am
Excelent mod dude but can u make some more stuffs like...

add server name or ip with coordinates
add a new window at right side of completed window for not put this together with vanilla quests from the game

sorry for my bad english
🐱  [author] 11 Jun, 2017 @ 11:37am
I haven't actually tested, but probably! I see no reason for it to break with that update. :CatWish:
Sixolu-Veks 11 Jun, 2017 @ 11:13am
Does this work with 1.3?
🐱  [author] 29 Apr, 2017 @ 10:35pm
The same way? This mod doesn't change that, simply go to in the quest log, select the NPC's quest, hit "track quest". If you're unsure what planet a quest was on, the ship navigation thingy has a button that'll select the planet the quest you're tracking is on
johnnjlee 29 Apr, 2017 @ 8:35pm
Apologies, I meant for every day quests, such as those given by npc's
🐱  [author] 29 Apr, 2017 @ 3:45pm
Clicking on the "track quest" button while in the same world as the bookmark will show the distance in the quest indicator on the top right corner of your screen
johnnjlee 29 Apr, 2017 @ 2:43pm
How do you show the distance to the quest?
Schweitzer Cushy 24 Feb, 2017 @ 10:06am
suggestion: should rename to either bookmarkwest or bookmarquest
🐱  [author] 24 Feb, 2017 @ 6:52am
I had that in mind and I think I could do this with enough trickeries but I don't know how to interfaces enough yet. Soon:TM:
Ramingo 24 Feb, 2017 @ 6:29am
Do you think is possible to add a text field when you place the marker that allows you to set a name for the quest/specific marker?
🐱  [author] 24 Feb, 2017 @ 6:16am
nice :CatWish:
Ramingo 24 Feb, 2017 @ 6:07am
Found it!
It was the "Drop Further Before Damage" mod!
If you didn't tell me they changed fatal damage, I would never have guessed it was this mod that bugged everything.
Now that I removed everything works fine! Lasers, memento mori and your mod :)
It works better than I imagined, thank you so much
Ramingo 24 Feb, 2017 @ 5:41am
I am running the latest version of starbound, but I probably am using an outdated mod that changes it (and you probably helped me fixing a bug that I had with lasers)!
Now I'll try to identify the mod and I'll let you know as soon as I find it ^^
🐱  [author] 24 Feb, 2017 @ 5:15am
@Nomad Bal Done did, the "main" quest is now primary.

About the Memento Mori not working, are you somehow running an older version of Starbound? The way fatal damages is handled changed in 1.2 (current version is 1.2.2), and the memento mori was changed to work with it, but your log shows your game handles it the older way. Sadly you cropped the part where it mentions the version :Neko:
Ramingo 24 Feb, 2017 @ 3:18am
Also, you think you could make the "main" quest (the one that you have to dismiss to place the bookmarks) primary? So it will be always on top ^^
Ramingo 24 Feb, 2017 @ 3:06am
@author Jesus, this is some serious customer care! Thanks fot the speed!

Well the idea of backtracking your death location is not a concept so original, so imho if you did it standalone there would be no problems.

Here's the log: http://pastebin.com/GMDN4txE
🐱  [author] 23 Feb, 2017 @ 6:00pm
@Nomad Bal: Alright, done did. To track your death position, you'll still need to have the Memento Mori in your inventory (because I felt like I was just copying it otherwise). The quest will appear automatically once you spawn in a world you died, and disappear automatically once you're there.

You said the Memento Mori wasn't working for you, so it might not work here either since I tied that functionality with it? If it indeed doesn't, please drop a comment, and if you don't mind I'd be interested in more details (what doesn't work exactly, and a pastebin of your starbound.log (can be found in the "storage" folder in starbound's folder) after dying then going to the world you died (you can probably do that on a new character, /admin, /spawnitem mementomori, /spawnmonster poptop 100)) :CatWish:
Ramingo 23 Feb, 2017 @ 6:24am
I like the Idea of this mod since i like to save stuff and I hate having a shitton of teleport entries.
Also, as was said before, could you add a bookmark when the player dies (maybe that goes away when you reach it)? I Have Frackin Races and Memento Mori doesn't work.
🐱  [author] 20 Feb, 2017 @ 2:27am
@Forcedminer I could probably, but the Memento Mori does something pretty similar in a fancy way, and I feel like it'd be redudant?
Ω Spriggan Ω 19 Feb, 2017 @ 4:38pm
most impressive.

any chance you could create a bookmark when the player dies on survival mode?
🐱  [author] 19 Feb, 2017 @ 11:15am
Right, I forgot to mention here that I did add it for a bunch of custom species -- the Wasp Hive is one of them. Full list is in the changelog :Neko:
HyperFrieza 19 Feb, 2017 @ 7:32am
Ah, that's good to hear. I'd like to see it for Wasp Hive if possible. Probably my favorite custom race.
🐱  [author] 19 Feb, 2017 @ 1:31am
@HyperFrieza ah right, sorry, I'm stupid, I only made it available to humans. Fixed that, it should now be available for all vanilla races, and I'll add custom races later. Thanks for pointing that out! :CatWish:
HyperFrieza 18 Feb, 2017 @ 1:14pm
For some odd reason, I'm not getting the quest that is mentioned in the desc
🐱  [author] 18 Feb, 2017 @ 8:06am
(Also please tell me if you get a quest's title to show on 3 lines, I haven't in my tests but
🐱  [author] 18 Feb, 2017 @ 7:57am
@AlphaOmega Done did boi, the quest journal now shows the distance to markers if they're set on the current planet.
Unless you wanted the *quest tracker* (the thingy on top left) to show the distance even if you're not on the right world, then no, that's not possible (as of now).
KolincaRN 17 Feb, 2017 @ 4:37pm
Could you make another mod to patch the quest tracking so all of them display the distance to the target?
BATNI 16 Feb, 2017 @ 12:53am
That's what i need it thx dude
