Awesome, Kierk. Looking forward to it! :cozyspaceengineersc:

UPDATE: It's almost March and the mod still hasn't been updated, but never fear it will be in the next few days :steamhappy: A new chapter is also in the works and will add a new character and all-new scenarios every two months or so until the last Story dlc (two on release, more afterwards).

It doesn't work now
Poomer 30 Jul, 2018 @ 11:28pm
ooo that's how, I didn't look into the mod folder yet. Thank you for answering me! I'm having some though about making a mod of this game for a while now, and your mod is inspiring me to do it.

I can make custom characters, but it didn't come with custom background so I'm thinking about modifying the original characters like you did instead and changing their bios as well.
Kierk  [author] 30 Jul, 2018 @ 11:07pm
Well it's pretty easy if you got some basic editing skills. All portraits are in "Mods\<mod id>\textures\ui\characters\" when extracting the textures in Storyteller.

First, you need Paint .net to convert the portrait files into .png or .bmp, then edit them with GIMP or wathever program you use normally. Since all portraits are 512 by 512 pixels, you can configure a 512x512 grid to replace them very quickly. I only used portraits that were already in the game files, making new ones takes a bit longer if you want a good result (black and white effect, vignetting, ...).

Once you are done, you just have to re-convert them into .dds and repack the mod.
You can use this portrait chart here [i.imgur.com] to know who you are replacing. Good luck!

O neat, this mod would add more challenge for my returning to this game.

I have one question about modding the game with Storyteller tool, how do I change portraits of original characters like you did? I'm able to change the name and bio, but I have no clue on changing portraits at the moment.

UPDATE: All the scenarios have been ported over to the latest game build. I'm now working on the localization (name changes, ending events, etc...). It's pretty much only copy-pasting at this point so I'll finally release the update tomorrow :steamhappy:

Then I'll see if I can add some of the features from the dlc to this mod, like what I did in War Stories.
Kierk  [author] 29 Nov, 2017 @ 12:14am
UPDATE: I finished working on the new dlc story, so I will soon start porting the scenarios back. That way it will finally be compatible with the latest build. ETA: 2 weeks
Joe da Immortal 15 Nov, 2017 @ 5:39am
Looking forward to it, Kierk. Will you be implementing the new characters and locations, as the season pass unfolds, if possible?
Kierk  [author] 11 Nov, 2017 @ 4:42am
UPDATE: Seems a new update/dlc is on the way for the game's 3rd anniversary, and it will most likely break all mods. Bear with me while I sort it out. It shouldn't take more than a few weeks to update everything...
Jean Claude Tarzan 1 Sep, 2017 @ 3:23am
great mods, hopefully you make some more
Shou Owl 14 Jul, 2017 @ 6:20am
Catched a bug:

The "Abandoned House" appeared at the day 8 or 9. Without any description and hints. When I sent my character (Marko) to this location, he just died.

A title "{MRDIED" apperared, then "loading" and thats all. Game over.
Kierk  [author] 4 Jul, 2017 @ 2:20am
@Bodomi Thank you. I don't have any plans for a third chapter yet, but I'm sure I will update this mod eventually once I get back into the game and find new things to add.
Bodomi 3 Jul, 2017 @ 3:15am
Alright.

I've been playing Survival: Second Chapter for about 6 hours now.
I have to say your mod just makes the game 10 times better and a little more realistic.
Much more challenging and you need to take though decisions etc...

I really enjoy it and I hope you somehow find the time in your maybe busy life to expand the mods, maybe making Survival: Third Chapter.

I have to admit that I do use the No Depression mod as I am kind of... I have some philosophical disagreements with how the mood system in this game works.
I.E we are constantly told and we constantly see soldiers doing terrible stuff, but having Roman killing one will make someone sad or depressed. Doesn't make sense to me(yes I know these are real people bla bla bla war is hell).

ANYWAYS, Great mod! :) :1heart:
Kierk  [author] 3 Jul, 2017 @ 2:43am
@Bodomi Known bug, it affects all mods changing the text. As long as you see the new scenarios, the mod is working. And "Anniversary mode" checkbox is "Survival mode" ;-)
Bodomi 2 Jul, 2017 @ 6:05am
There's also no intro text.
Bodomi 2 Jul, 2017 @ 6:05am
They're names aren't changing for me, and I have no option anywhere that says "Survival Mode".
Kierk  [author] 17 Jun, 2017 @ 2:59am
@ReeceBar Sure. I can't post the direct link, but you can find the submod on Reddit > Non-Steam downlad link. Just drop it in the workshop folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\282070\) and replace both files.
ReeceyB 16 Jun, 2017 @ 12:05pm
Hey can you make that locations doesn't tell you whats their thing a separate mod? Or remove that from your mod?
Aridolomo 31 May, 2017 @ 2:55pm
@Kierk, thanks, things I wrote myself are mainly very minor changes to stacking, item handling, quality of life changes. If you are curious I do have them uploaded
Kierk  [author] 31 May, 2017 @ 3:59am
@Aridolomo Not much, I tried to keep item changes to a minimum. Stacking/durability mods should work no problem, only adding new items would complicate things (because of how loot spawn).

You can download the source files (unencrypted) and see the changes for yourself on Reddit .
Only the XML files with a crypted .bin file next to them are modified. You can use a program like Winmerge to compare the whole folder with your mod ;-)
Aridolomo 29 May, 2017 @ 4:37pm
I would like to try the mod with a few balance tweeks I made myself, could you perhaps share what changes you made to certain items (durability and slots for example) as well as changes to recipes and stack sizes?
Vesperia 14 May, 2017 @ 1:05am
Seems great! Can't wait to download it

Ok, never mind. after rebooting I can see them.
Izuela 1 May, 2017 @ 4:36am
It is. And it's at the top
Kierk  [author] 1 May, 2017 @ 4:35am
@Izuela Restart the game and check if the mod is enabled in the Modding Center ;-)
Izuela 1 May, 2017 @ 4:32am
Not sure it's working for me. I'm not seeing any new portraits.
Kierk  [author] 29 Apr, 2017 @ 2:47am
@ThatWeeb Well it changes items values, meaning resources could be scarcer than usual. But other than that the mod should work just fine. Just make sure it's loaded first since I did some minor changes to traders too.
duck 28 Apr, 2017 @ 11:54pm
Hello does this mod work with the balenced trade mod to?
DarkSpark 27 Apr, 2017 @ 12:18am
Wow, this mod is niiiice. I expected to win Roman on first playthrough, but.. you could believe me, you don't wan't to reset depression with alcohol with a single survivor. Never. Do. This. xD
Kierk  [author] 27 Apr, 2017 @ 12:15am
@lifecoder.ua Not without the dlc, but if the bug happens to you yes. There are five new characters so far, with their own portrait (and name): Liam and Ethan (Marko), Julian (Pavle), Dimitr (Roman), and Damian (Bruno). You can see them on the first screenshot ;-)
DarkSpark 26 Apr, 2017 @ 8:46am
So without DLC Pavle solo is Julian solo, and Roman stands for Dimitr, correct?
Kierk  [author] 25 Apr, 2017 @ 12:24am
@undefind1223 No fix at this time, it does that with other mods too. I thought at first it was because some people didn't have all the dlc, but it can actually happen even if you have :-/
undefind1223 24 Apr, 2017 @ 11:19am
I am in a similar situation as toomanynights. survival box does not show up, only anniversary edition. when i start one of the mods the intro is completely blank. i unsubscribed to all the mods and verified files. i am using survival, survival second chapter, 1.5X stack boost, and music.
duck 18 Apr, 2017 @ 2:49am
@kierk Thank you for the responds i have been playing this game vannila for a while now but this is very fun having a challenge:steamhappy:
Kierk  [author] 18 Apr, 2017 @ 12:04am
@Thatweeb I know, and I'm not sure what could be causing this. Even with only this mod active, text is sometimes not displayed correctly. But it's only the text, the mod is working otherwise.
duck 17 Apr, 2017 @ 7:39am
The names of the new characters are still the standart names and the story when you start a game is blank
Kierk  [author] 13 Apr, 2017 @ 1:59am
@HEllo Yes, it should be possible to complete it now xD
HEllo마이네임 13 Apr, 2017 @ 1:50am
so... can i play alternative julian solo now?
Kierk  [author] 13 Apr, 2017 @ 12:48am
"Survival: Second Chapter" can be enabled at the same time to add all his immersive features (less visual cues when scavenging). Just make sure it's loaded after "Survival", otherwise you'll have the other scenarios ;-)
Kierk  [author] 7 Apr, 2017 @ 8:36am
@HEllo It's Julian solo here. Same scenario.. except that you don't start with Roman ;-)

You might want to wait a bit though, because this scenario is way too hard because of that. I'm gonna release an update in the next few days to fix that (cf. Change Notes).
HEllo마이네임 7 Apr, 2017 @ 8:17am
roman solo scenario doesn't appear
is this just me?
Kierk  [author] 2 Apr, 2017 @ 9:49am
Everything's been updated, and the mod is completed for real this time. There won't be any major update for quite some time, but you can be sure it'll be updated if I find anything to fix.
Kierk  [author] 31 Mar, 2017 @ 2:09pm
Huge update today, bringing much needed new features and various tweaks, including: alternate start for all new scenarios, new scarcer resources system, new ending events, and dwellers recovering less easily from exhaustion/depression and triggering traumas even when sad

Also added some exclusives features to Second Chapter to make it even more unforgiving: disabled visual cues like enemy positions and health bars, scarcer resources for all scenarios without exception, and dwellers joining in bad shape (wounded, tired, etc...).
Kierk  [author] 31 Mar, 2017 @ 2:04pm
@Bl2ck Dog Good, challenging is exactly what I wanted. Glad you enjoyed them. Check out my other mods if you haven't already, I made three more scenarios, including two even harder than Liam's... And I just updated the mod with lots of new features and alternate start for all of them ;-)
Bl2ck Dog 31 Mar, 2017 @ 1:45pm
Kierk, my bad! Excelent campaigns though: beat both now, first one is realy tough, second is a bit easier. Thanks for challenging experience!
Kierk  [author] 22 Mar, 2017 @ 12:41am
@Bl2ck Dog Already is, at the end of the gameplay part. Wouln't blame you for not seeing it tho, the description is a bit longer than I wanted xD
Bl2ck Dog 21 Mar, 2017 @ 6:29pm
Ok, tnx for reply. You might want to add that part about upgrade to mod description.

Managed to beat that on 3rd try, previously everyone died from cold by day 14-16. Didn't paid attention that days 1 and 2 also got low temperature. ((
