@mhwyoshi while i really appreciate the offer, i'm sorry but i dont think it will happen anytime soon.
i havent played SE in over a year and at least for the forseeable future, probably wont.

*if* i feel a sudden urge to come back to SE and build again, i will most certainly update both this and my other more "modern" designs to the newest standards.
mhwyoshi 16 Jun, 2024 @ 11:54am
Please make a modern dlc version with a jump drive as well! I wouldn’t mind helping!
Joshua Norton  [author] 2 Oct, 2022 @ 7:40pm
ah, they are fixed spawns then? i have no idea xD
but thanks, i will probably get around doing that this...year :>

Here's the coordinates in the Star System map, if you want to check them out. :)

GPS:Ponos-F1 + 2 raider drones:59586:161929:78289:#FF75C9F1:
GPS:Ponos-F1:1080306:136908:1754963:#FF75C9F1:
GPS:near Ponos-F1 + 2 raider drones:1087122:123229:1736478:#FF75C9F1:

The middle one has no drones, while the other two have raider drones that can be seen from a distance.
I just posted a video to demonstrate that the mayday signals are consistent and not random, and I used those as part of the demonstration (in case you want to see what I mean).
Joshua Norton  [author] 2 Oct, 2022 @ 10:27am
well, the SPRT one is an earlier design, which also had some quirks due to being "rushed into production" xD
but nothing too significantly i think.

i can imagine, compared to my interior design, your refit looks almost cramped, not in a bad way though.
but yeah, i *do* like having easy ground access on my ships :>

huh, i actually have never found my ship as an SPRT spawn ingame so far, which is funny to me xD
but yeah, i dont know how the dev set it up to spawn, he never told me but as far as i know, this version right here isnt in the game, but the dev reworked my version a bit for one spawn, so that might be it but yeah, there is basically two versions in the game.
glabifrons 2 Oct, 2022 @ 12:51am
Something interesting I noticed in the game is that there are two arrangements of your ship as Mayday signals. One is the ship all by itself (I think it spawns in 2 small drones when you get too close), the other already has two larger drones that you can spot if you're really careful when you approach. IIRC, one is above, the other below (with respect to the ship's orientation), and about the same distance apart (several hundred meters, IIRC). I found both near Mars, IIRC, although the one in my video was captured near the Earth-like planet.

I'm now wondering if they used both of your versions in the game (since they have two configurations for the Mayday signals).
I found two completely different configurations for Prometheus (one with internal warheads and one with warheads near it on small asteroids, different colors too), so maybe they have two variations of your ship too. :)
glabifrons 2 Oct, 2022 @ 12:47am
I thought the SPRT one was based on this version since it had 4 cryo chambers.

I'm glad you like it. :) It took a while to figure out how to reshape it to fit stuff in while retaining as much of the original shape/style as possible.
Squeezing the full refinery with upgrades in is why the roof is slightly higher. :) I had to add half-blocks to cover both the refinery and the assembler. That worked out for covering the welders too.
I was trying to figure out how to keep the ground access, but figured the reactors were more important, plus the path in was blocked by the refinery's modules.

Funny about the pronunciation, I didn't even realize it was Greek (now I'll need to look that up). :)
Joshua Norton  [author] 1 Oct, 2022 @ 10:37pm
i also have to say, i quite like the top-down shape of your convertion because together with the added blocks on the top side it makes for a really nice look.

the original reason for the flat top side of my ponos was that i was designing it as a shuttle craft that would have a cut-out on the underside of a bigger ship but i never got around to finishing the bigger ship as i was a bit frustrated with the proportions of that.
maybe in the future though :>
Joshua Norton  [author] 1 Oct, 2022 @ 10:29pm
@glabifrons glad to hear you like it and sure, you can do with it whatever you want, legitimate salvage and all ;)

the one in the game is actually an older version, but then again so are the ones on my workshop since i havent really played space engineers in ages.
but i know what you mean, i really like its shape as well still to this day.

interesting though that you managed to cramp a refinery with 4 modules in there somehow.

you got that "Ponos" pronounciation pretty on spot i would say...then again i dont speak greek either so yeah :>
no ground access though! :p but seriously, interesting convertion...i liked the "somewhat armed" part when its blistering with turrets xD
glabifrons 1 Oct, 2022 @ 9:17pm
I wanted to say I really like your design. It's my favorite ship captured from the Space Pirates. I couldn't bear to tear it down, but I play solo so didn't need the multiplayer bits. I wanted a mobile base, so I gutted it and turned it into one. I hope you don't mind. :)
I tried to keep the shape as close to your original design as possible, but did have to expand it just slightly to be able to fit everything in. I used a few of the newer blocks, and one mod (rotary airlock).
My reworked version has:
> Refinery (4x yield modules)
> Assembler w/2 efficiency modules
> 2 hydrogen engines
> 3 o2/h2 generators
> 2 ball turrets w/6 gatling guns each
> 2 interior turrets (underside)
> 3 autocannons
> medical station
> 3x gyros (IIRC, I remember it was one more than original)
> more thrusters (I think I added side and down h2 thrusters)
> 2 reactors
> 2 rotary airlocks
I made a video, in case you're curious. :) (I'm not monetized, so I'm not using this as a plug)

Is this updated
Joshua Norton  [author] 18 May, 2021 @ 6:23pm
glad to hear that :)
Sir Borks-a-Lot 18 May, 2021 @ 4:02pm
Don't worry. I treat her with care so far. She's a good ship.
Joshua Norton  [author] 17 May, 2021 @ 4:08pm
hey, glad that you like it and that its still usefull after all that time :D
treat it lightly :p
Sir Borks-a-Lot 17 May, 2021 @ 2:45pm
Beautiful shuttle. I found one of these as a wreck in my singleplayer world, and after restoring (and customizing) it I just fell in love with it. Even made a variant that incorporates a jump drive, in place of one of the rooms.
Joshua Norton  [author] 28 Jan, 2020 @ 6:38am
ah yeah i see, sounds a bit like a bigger refit but i can see how it works out :)
glad you where able to keep the small hangar, i love that the most about the ship to be honest because one wouldnt expect such a small vessel to hold a speeder inside :D
honestly, i didnt even think about that a refinery would fit right on the conveyor ports so that is probably clangs blessing on the design :>
and yes, the workshop version is the reworked version with quite a few tweaks here and there and i still have an unfinished version lying around that i redesigned to be docked to a bigger ship from below(the bigger ship isnt done either so yeah).

over all, glad it serves you so well :D
Athaphian 28 Jan, 2020 @ 6:00am
Max 1000 characters here it comes: I had no need for 4 cryo chambers so I removed all but the medical room cryo. The place where 2 cryos were on the right after entering is where I moved the H2 gen and assembler. I moved that O2 tank that was attached to the H2 gen behind the other H2 tank (same place as the other O2 tank). I sacrificed the right crew quarters on the second deck and in that area I placed the refinery with its flat side towards the inside of the ship to remain airtightness. So it sits somewhat above the small hangar, nice touch btw! Never realised a small cockpit would fit through a sliding door..
In this setup the refinery access ports line up with existing stuff so no conveyor re-routing was required. I am quite pleased with how mod-able this design is. The encounter version did not come with a reactor so I added that on the second deck in the place of the cryo, but I noticed in the workshop version you added two reactors above the entrance, good one!
Joshua Norton  [author] 27 Jan, 2020 @ 11:33am
oh you did? where did you fit the refinery in? back when i created it i didnt really find a nice space to fit it and keep the shape while having it still airtight.

honestly, i wasnt really able to play the game since the ship got added since my game keeps crashing on my new ryzen 7/AMD RX GPU setup :/
Athaphian 26 Jan, 2020 @ 10:14pm
Well.. considering that my planet-to-orbit shuttles mostly consist of only a cockpit, hydrogen tank, 10 thrusters, battery and gyro... yeah this is a very nice design for a deep space mission. I did add a full refinery in one game though, so I could refine uranium to fuel the reactor. The encounter version comes with an intact medical room & intact cryo chambers, which is quite a good find in early game. Although you have to battle two pirate drones to get it.
Joshua Norton  [author] 26 Jan, 2020 @ 2:48pm
really? thats awesome to hear, i didnt think it would work so well as a base-craft, the initial design was actually only a planet-to-orbit shuttle :>
Athaphian 26 Jan, 2020 @ 10:32am
I found it three times now as an encounter in different games I play with different people and every time in stead of scrapping it, I end up modding it and using it. It is such a versatile little shuttle. Great design!
Joshua Norton  [author] 22 Oct, 2019 @ 12:41pm
i mean, i kind of designed the hull in a way that it can be modified with not too much difficult so i'm glad people do so :D
KagedDaemon 22 Oct, 2019 @ 11:39am
yea, I found it as an encounter and then modded the heck out of it, it is now kinda like Frankenstien, has the same basic shape, but has a few extra protrusions here and there, like shield stuff sticking off of it, i think it looks good still
Wingnut 22 Oct, 2019 @ 9:32am
Nice
Joshua Norton  [author] 22 Oct, 2019 @ 8:27am
oh yeah i know, i got send some screenshots from aragath :)

although the version of the ship in the encounter is an older version, this one here is the most upgraded so far(although before the new survival block still)
Wingnut 22 Oct, 2019 @ 8:07am
Guess what this an encounter
Joshua Norton  [author] 4 Mar, 2019 @ 9:53am
thats true, the exterior shouldn't be too much different
KagedDaemon 3 Mar, 2019 @ 8:00pm
Meh, I was really only worried about the exterior any way, I can pick and choose there a bit easier
Joshua Norton  [author] 3 Mar, 2019 @ 7:52pm
ah you probably should watch out then, as i know from an insider that the version that spawns in the game is a older and modified version of this one here, so i dont know how well it works to combine the blueprints?

maybe you should check before in a creative world?
KagedDaemon 3 Mar, 2019 @ 6:49pm
Yea, it was only missing a few thrusters and a few hull blocks and then it was flyable!! Great ship!! Gonna grab the BP so I can repair it to spec, plus a few added mods and personal changes, and make her right as rain!
Joshua Norton  [author] 3 Mar, 2019 @ 5:08pm
thank you!
and yes, i was really baffled it got picked, glad you can put her to use :)
KagedDaemon 3 Mar, 2019 @ 5:06pm
just wanna say, congrats on getting your shp featured in the random spawns for the Maydays that are sent out, I found one and am in the process of fixing her up!
Joshua Norton  [author] 11 Dec, 2017 @ 6:37pm
well, mostly because of space restrictions in the craft itself and also because it wasn't designed as a totally autonomous base but a mere starting setup to create a base on a planets surface.

the main problem is that the refinery is so big and also not airtight, so implementing one into the design would have exceeded the size of it by around 30-40% and defeating the idea of a smaller surface-to-orbit shuttle.

(here is hope we get some more ore processing blocks in the future with some upcoming updates to the game).

otherwise, sorry the design doesn't really fit your needs here :I
although you could always redesign the starboard side a bit, scrapping the little hangar out and a bit of reworking the pipes could do actually.
Aether 11 Dec, 2017 @ 6:13pm
Why the refinery was replaced by an arc furnace (since the arc furnace can only smelt Iron, Cobalt & Nickel, So other material needed for basebuilding can't be processed, and if it's power source in a reactor (Even if I've seen the solar panel, since you didn't said if it work exclusively on solar power, I'll assume it has a reactor) that mean that you can't get much more fuel. And also, the Arc furnace can't be equiped with module to increase it efficiency.
Joshua Norton  [author] 14 Mar, 2017 @ 7:00am
thank you :)

thank you very much enderknight, i'll try to keep improving my designing capabilities :)
Atlas 22 Feb, 2017 @ 4:39pm
hey, I'd just like to say that this is a really well designed shuttle, keep up the good work!

sorry, i don't speak russian :o

but yes, i know what "ponos" means in russian but the name is from greek mythology ;)
