Not only is this mod dead, the attempt someone else made to revive it seems to be dead as well. Nonetheless, you can find the new corpse here. Seems to still work as of 3.2, but I still consider it dead in the sense that it hasn't been updated in years. The newer version also contains the fix that renders it compatible with the Pallid.

RIP?

I absolutely adore this mod, though I have a concern. Absolutely none of the traits show up, I'm not sure if that's just a weird feature I didn't catch up on or if that's a serious bug.
TurtleShroom 10 May, 2019 @ 6:52pm
CUUUUUUUUUTE!! Does this Mod still work?

UPDATE PLEASE

Hopefully this mod gets updated soon, I love the lovers.

These would make awesome Darloks...

Tito Bandito, AKA Xzibit, asking the real questions here.
Tito Bandito 15 Sep, 2017 @ 6:54am
Sup dog(kisser). Xzibit here, again. It occurs to me that it's a little unfortunate that everyone is naked except for the parrots. If I, a world-famous rapper, actor, television host, radio personality and record producer, were secretly a plant entity from beyond the stars (which I most certainly am not), would I understand the concept of clothing, or would I, bearlike, think the clothes were merely an outer layer of skin, to be imitated imperfectly like the rest of the body?
Tito Bandito 13 Sep, 2017 @ 6:05am
Hey my name is Xzibit and I was wondering if you were planning on putting plants in my plants, from the plant dlc. Please consider making this bold choice.

My pleasure. :)

@isiarca
Great, thank you. ^__^

@Nozeminer
I've done it. Hopefully you're using Windows, otherwise my advice is probably of no help.

Get into your Steam folder.
For me, the correct path was C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\281990, but I have no idea whether those numbers at the end (the Stellaris workshop content. Other folders in the same place were given different numbers and contained different games' mods) is the same on every computer or not.

Once you've identified the Stellaris mod folder, run a search in it for the word "pallid." IDK if it's just me, but I found the folder to be full of dozens of empty folders, making it impractical to find the right one manually.

There should be a WinRAR Zip archive called Race_Pallid. Inside that, go to gfx/portraits/portraits (yes, the first portraits folder contains a second one). There, you'll find the txt.
Nozeminer 15 May, 2017 @ 2:31pm
@I_Burner
So where do i actually find the file/folder containing the textfile that I would need to rename?
I_Burner 9 May, 2017 @ 9:11pm
I found a tiny filename issue that causes this mod to conflict with "The Pallid" species mod. Both mods use the file gfx/portraits/portraits/01_thepallid_portraits.txt. Running both mods will prevent the portraits for this one from showing up in game.

Renaming the file in this mod (I used "01_lovers_portraits.txt") takes care of the issue.

I think this is the creepiest thing i haver ever seen in Stellaris. If the game should someday allow hive minds that don't purge, then you should totally turn them into one.
Puppet Master 18 Apr, 2017 @ 8:19pm
By Ironman, people mean achivements. Other Paradox games they mean the same thing.
Ultimuh 9 Apr, 2017 @ 7:42pm
Huh.. Didn't think of that, although I sometimes prefer to encounter completely randomized AI empires. Your otehr species mod(s) would also be nice to see as portrait only. (Although namelists doesn't matter to me.) Sorry for any inconvenience.
dogkisser  [author] 9 Apr, 2017 @ 7:38pm
Updated to work with 1.5! Also, I can totally do a portrait-only version... but you ought to be able to play with Ironman regardless?
Ultimuh 9 Apr, 2017 @ 4:33pm
This would need a nupdate by now.
Also, could we get a portrait-only version of this? Maybe sometime in the near future?
For those of us who want to play with Ironman enabled.
dogkisser  [author] 22 Mar, 2017 @ 5:09pm
@arstya Sadly, no! Nothing cool is, basically!
Bacon Boywife~ 22 Mar, 2017 @ 11:56am
I'm guessing this isn't Iron Man compatible? lol
BurningTemplar 2 Mar, 2017 @ 7:28am
I think they will, also the prortraits are replaceables like in the worm quest, where your main race is replaced by it's ancient version. I guess it will be somehow possible to know when a race goes psionic.
dogkisser  [author] 2 Mar, 2017 @ 4:19am
@burningtemplar That's totally doable, but what would be required from Paradox is some kind of hook within the file system, something like 'has_trait_psionic' or whatever to indicate when certain portraits will be used. It's of course possible to just make regular portraits with glowy eyes too, though they'll be glowy the whole game...
BurningTemplar 2 Mar, 2017 @ 2:12am
Hi, I know this required an huge amount of work, I was thinking, since paradox apparently wont do anything about that, why not add cool effects for psyonic ascended races, like bright eyes or trasparent effects (unbidden like).
dogkisser  [author] 1 Mar, 2017 @ 4:57pm
@plaguelord Hi, sorry I missed your comment earlier - it SHOULDN'T overwrite anything, and the lack of the pre-order portrait shouldn't make a difference. Is there anything in your error log?
autoganzfeld 26 Feb, 2017 @ 8:38pm
very cool! i like the red.
Plaguelord 25 Feb, 2017 @ 8:04am
Hi, your portraits aren't showing up for me, does this mod overwrite anything? I have a lot of mods installed so wondering if there might be a conflict, I've noticed a portrait from the creatures of the void pre-order (which I don't have), could that be the cause?
Knight 'Pink from the Outset' 24 Feb, 2017 @ 4:22pm
Cool. Always liked this idea. The terosian empire did something similar but they were too creepy and had a weird sound effect that wouldn't go away.
Stratos 24 Feb, 2017 @ 10:45am
Well, you could always apply different color sets as different mod uploads, each designed to slot into the main mod (this one). That way you don't have to worry about overloading a single mod with data.
dogkisser  [author] 24 Feb, 2017 @ 10:34am
@chadious_maximus Yeah, I may reverse engineer the Prethoryn playable ship set to see how they did it and put it in here. I COULD add other colors, my only concern is for the size of the mod - it's already 130 mb with just these photos, and adding other colours will double or triple that. I guess in this day and age download size isn't really a big issue, but that's just what I'm worried about. May not be a bad idea to do it anyway, though!
Stratos 24 Feb, 2017 @ 10:14am
The green, glowy eyes seems to work well. If it were me, I'd keep the red... but then add other colors as different portrait sets (a bluish set, a dark grey set, the dark moss green you were thinking of, etc), to represent different subspecies (each a different color, but each a mono color).

As to the Prethoryn ships, there is a playable ship set up of them that hasn't been updated since last year (as the author appears to have stopped modding quite awhile ago). I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to modify and incorporate that into this mod as well (or at the very least, pull it apart to see how it was done).
Spirit 24 Feb, 2017 @ 9:31am
they all look undead when you ask me
Exelsiar 22 Feb, 2017 @ 3:31pm
Perhaps colours that are similiar? like a dark purple and dark green? you could always try a few test cases, if it doesn't work out that no biggy, its not like the 1 colour doesn't have enough variation already since it uses all the races ^_^
AstarothDieWhite 22 Feb, 2017 @ 11:01am
Well. They are kinda creepy. O_o
dogkisser  [author] 22 Feb, 2017 @ 10:38am
@exelsiar Well the idea with keeping them all one colour is that they all have to look like they're part of a single race - kind of like a uniform. Multiple colors is POSSIBLE, but I think it'll weaken their look a little? Maybe I'm crazy!
Puppet Master 22 Feb, 2017 @ 10:37am
Is this or your other species mod compatable with achivements? A lot of cosmetic addons are but I don't know how far your mods go. :)
Exelsiar 22 Feb, 2017 @ 9:26am
You said you're not sold on the red, perhaps multiple colours, like different strains of the parasite?
Kaiser Nhyla 21 Feb, 2017 @ 8:42pm
I tried
dogkisser  [author] 21 Feb, 2017 @ 8:42pm
@red wing - What about your two number 45s?
Kaiser Nhyla 21 Feb, 2017 @ 8:39pm
I'll have two number 9's
Kaiser Nhyla 21 Feb, 2017 @ 8:38pm
