Probably not too hard to do when checking the current code of the mod and adapting it for that.
To me it seems you actually want the default use in the settings of the game. That one goes by pretty fast.

At worst, if it rose to the west and set to the east... One could say he lives on a planet that turns backwards. But light toward poles in the morning and in the evening does not work from a climate point of view.

I changed the frequency with with it checks and changes, to make it less resource intensive. It also means there is a slight delay when first loading your save game. It also means you can see the in-game option taking over and then getting overriden again.
Are you sure it wasn't a city state?
Otherwise, what other mods are you running? Most notably UI mods, both small and large, are most likely broken after this update, since there are again a ton of UI changes.
