(Obviously it'd have to be at a pose that works better for Stellaris, but you get the idea. If you want to oil-paint-ify them, most programs to edit art like photoshop or GIMP should have a oil paint filter.)
If you're able to use real life photographs it'd open up a lot of opportunities I guess. If not, I'll see if I can dig up some source material I guess.
This whole mod series started because I saw one painting online and went "haha I bet that could replace a uniform in Stellaris."
It's easy to find three-quarter portraits for Europeans that I can repurpose for Stellaris, but it's been frustrating trying to find the same for even Meiji-era Japan. The stuff I use for source material just doesn't seem to be that common for people outside of Europe.
if you don't mind, I'd like to request portraits from Imperial/Meiji-era Japan, Qing China (or other eras of Chinese history if possible, though that might be to much for you :P), Republican/Warlord-era China, and my own Vietnam. No pressure or anything, your work will be always great no matter what you come up with next I'm sure.
I even gave the African and Asian portraits old colonial tirailleur getup for the role of general, so don't go telling me it's not historical.
