As I stated before, the problem was "it resulted in my Sharpshooter having a negative dodge stat."
The negative dodge stat wasn't too harmful in and of itself, but I think that the same 'debuff' could happen to other stats that PCSs increase, such as Aim and Health. (It'd only lower them, not make them negative.) But I'm pretty sure it just has to do with the timing of when you get the "all PCSs are better" upgrade.
Without getting too technical, I think this was the problem.
If a PCS gets merged onto a soldier *before* you get the PCS upgrade, removing the merged PCS *after* you get the upgrade will actually permanently lower the stat the PCS was improving.
I got some of my PCSs "merged" before I got the upgrade that improves the PCSs. I then downloaded this mod and used it to remove a Dodge PCS, but it resulted in my Sharpshooter having a negative dodge stat. I figured the reason was because before the PCS upgrade, it was +18 Dodge, but after the PCS upgrade, it was supposed to be +24, but since it was merged, it wasn't upgraded.
Basically, the merged PCS on my soldier had the stat increase of the original PCS, but when removing the merged PCS, the mod was decreasing the stat as if I had the upgraded PCS, taking away more than it should.
Can't see it mentioned in the WoTC Highlander change log [github.com].
I don't know if Firaxis fixed this in WoTC.
But yeah, great mod.
I see it's been a while, but in the hope you're still maintaining this, back may of last year you said, "Yes, this mod is not required if you are using LW2 1.3 or the Community Highlander."
I would think it should be safe to assume then that if WotC alone didn't fix this issue, the WotC Community Highlander probably does?
Gave this a thumbs up in any case, since it's a relatively elegant workaround for an otherwise very annoying and hard to squash bug.
From the changelog
- Fix base game bug with PCS items disappearing from soldiers.
Haven't tested it personally, but I had a look through the Shadow Ops classes source code a while back, and I am 100% positive this mod will work with it.
The Dragoon class applies the second PCS on the proper (CombatSim) slot. This mod just lists any equipped PCS chips which do not have a proper inventory slot (Unknown) location.
I have heard that another mod..."Shadow Ops LW2 Class Pack" has a class called Dragoon with a perk that adds two PCS. It opens a new window with two slots or something like that. However, I want multiple PCS on all of my squad and not just 1 class.
Can you share your save file? It should be at "Documents\My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\SaveData".
Note that the option only shows up if the soldier has a merged PCS chip. And in my testing, I have never encountered the bug when equipping a PCS chip through the armory. But I don't exactly understand why the bug happens, so a save file would be helpful.
Updated. Thanks a lot!
PCS chips equipped on a soldier sometimes disappear, but the soldier keeps the stat bonus. You can then equip another PCS chip without losing the previous stat bonus.
This can happen multiple times, and the soldier can end up with crazy high stats. I managed to make a 72 mobility soldier that you can see in the screenshots.
Imagine how game-breaking stacking aim on your soldiers would be. And it can totally happen accidentally.
I can start on a multi-PCS mod if people really want it. The only question is what PCS chips should be allowed in the second slot.
Definitely applies to mission infiltration squad selection. Or any other mission types for that matter.
By squad management, I assume you mean through the Avenger. No problems here.
And I was like... OH SH!T. Well... now I know... Hang on, does this apply to mission infiltration squad selection or squad management screen or both? I technically outfit my squad through the squad management screen because I'm paranoid of crashes on the infiltration squad screen.
Also, in regards to the matter of modifying the UI, probably check in with the guys who did "LW2: ShowMeTheSkills Revived"? They did something pretty cool for squad selection screens in that they made primary weapon upgrades visible and shortcut'd there.
Definitely possible. The game already allows a soldier to equip multiple PCS chips. Only problem is modifying the UI to add support for multiple PCS chips.
