At the settings I've most frequently used the mod, baby wvyerns cannot craft milk fast enough to seriously effect their own maturation.
The 1 to 1 egg to milk production rate was carefully thought out. Alphas drop milk in numbers like what you're talking about. A random egg grabbed from the trench should not.
Since I run a PVP server, I'm concerned this will become a problem.
-----
Other than that, I haven't used the wyverns yet to produce milk. How much milk to they give for a fertilized egg? If 1, I think it should be 5-7. And then if you can make them drop unfertilized eggs, it could be one to make one milk.
I only just got a few wyverns.
Also a question. Is it possible for you to detect baby phase and disable milk crafting in non-adults?
I don't recall the last time I saw a wyvern drop an unfertilized egg. If I get a chance I'll open up the mod and see if the modded wyverns can drop those.
The base wyvern breeding mod only changes them to breed, nothing else. There was a great deal of debate at the time I was working on it about the gameplay balance of hunting alphas for milk, and doing anything to change that. The goal of that mod was to ONLY change the wyverns to breed.
I came to ask about the rates at which Wyverns drop unfertilized eggs because my egg collector isn't picking any up. Nor can I hitch your dinos for some reason to the S+ hitching post. I really wanted to use unfertilized eggs for milk production.
I mean since you are here, I'd like to know. Does your non-speed wyvern mod include milk production? Because I didn't realize this one breaks PVP by enabling speed when I got it into the server.
@Everyone_Asking_For_Ice_Wyverns Since Ragnarok isn't actually part of the official dev kit, its exceedingly difficult to mod them at all. You kind of have to shoot into the dark to make any changes and usually break something.
Wyverns cannot be cross bred with this mod. I wanted to, but they are different animals as far as Ark is concerned.
Every time I push an update to this mod, thousands of players have to re-download it and any servers running it have to update, hence my general tendency to not update it if it's working for most people.
That said, I haven't been keeping up with this thread for a while, and it seems like there might be something broken for a lot of people. I'll try to go over the mod again in the next couple weeks. No promises.
I actually didn't notice this added speed back to their flight capabilities, so now its a bad mod for PVP servers. :/ Now I have to replace it with something else and have people bitch at me that their wyverns are being deleted. Meh, I dunno what to do right now.
That said, I'm not 100% sure, but I know there's a few mods out there that would allow you to breed the regular wyverns. S+ gave the function to the S+ Tek Mutator and there's another mod out there that gives you an item that you can use to allow normally unbreedable dinos to breed. So if you want to specifically breed two existing wyverns, you'd need to use one of those.
You might be able to limit the wyverhood wyvern spawn rate with config file lines, but I didn't design anything special for that into the mod. Use the entity IDs from the above description instead of the normal wyvern names.
I wound up placing turrets.
I also noticed this mod doesn't work with ACM. Your Wyverns can't be spawned via ACM so I can't spawn a baby level 150 for a friend to imprint on like I wanted.
As to your question about female wyverns and milk, that was my original plan, but it is not possible with the modding skills I have for Ark and UE4. In order to get female wyverns to generate milk, but not male wyverns, they would have be different species, and would then be unable to mate.
There are more advanced tools that *probably* could identify female wyverns and drop milk items in their inventory periodically. I didn't develop skills in those areas and don't have the time to do so now. It's not that I don't care about the mod, it's that my own game projects demand my time.
Most modded servers are also moderated, and players who abuse mechanics like you described are either playing as expected or are eventually banned.
The original gameplay intent behind wyvern egg acquisition was to tame and train an argent or lymantria in speed, steal an egg, and run. With the speed nerf, this is physically improbable, as Wyverns are the fastest flier. Wild wyverns must be slaughtered to obtain an egg, which is difficult to impossible for early play. By bringing these wyverns in line with other mods that restore speed modification, players can use this strategy or any other.
