Hey, sorry about that. I was really grouchy because I was being harassed on my Tel Aviv map. It was a project I was working on for a year, and it got 20x as many downvotes as I have ever gotten on any map because people hate the politics of Israel. It's just a map and map theme, so I don't know why people reacted so childishly :steamsad: Anyhoo, hope your project goes well and definitely post some screenshots here for us when you have time :)
xEthanoL 8 May, 2019 @ 5:07pm
Was just asking bro, i'm currently playing on it just fine! Its a bit off but its great! And macau fits in the 81 tiles and more. Hong Kong on the other hand not really. Would you like to see the progress on this map? I'm thinking of publishing my map with only roads if i ever get it done xD
MrMiyagi  [author] 4 May, 2019 @ 10:18am
This was one of my first real life maps with matching overlay. There was nothing on the workshop to about how to do this nor what true 1:1 scale actually is. It was me, all alone. Only this year did I get some help to make correct 1:1 scale, which is actually 17.26 km 2 rather than 18 km 2 which is the default for terrain.party, and what we all thought was 1:1 scale

So no, it's probably off by quite a bit, but people need to give me a break. So many snide comments today. If you want it correct, then I wrote a guide on how to do so and we have instructions for precise 1:1 scale. You won't be able to fit all of Macao in it, though. That was the goal of this map.
xEthanoL 4 May, 2019 @ 2:15am
Is there any scaling you based the map off? is it correct?

Yup! I get that all the time too qualiall. There is something odd going on with map themes vs save games so that no matter what we're loading, we will randomly get this message. Either way, even though it says "warning", it won't actually cause any problem whatsoever. Warning is a bit overdramatic :D Here's what to keep in mind for either way you'd like to load a game.
1. If you're not using any custom map theme on your save game that you're loading yet this message pops up, just hit "okay" and you'll get the default theme, nothing will go wrong.
2. If you've decided to use a custom theme, it's likely you'll also get this message on the Load Game dialog box, and the theme dropdown shows "none" instead of your custom theme that's supposed to be there. Hit cancel to that load game box, then click "load game" again, and magic! that custom theme box will now show the last custom theme you saved it with :steamfacepalm: :steamfacepalm: lol
qualiall 3 Dec, 2017 @ 10:31am
this is the only map I ever use--it is perfect for everything. I do get an error : "Custom map theme used by this map is missing"--but it doesn't seem to affect anything as far as I can tell

wow, thanks so much MrMiyagi, you are very kind and helpful. I totally did not expect such a detailed and useful answer. I will support you and all your nice maps.

Part 2:
Subscribe to the Unlock All Tiles mod I linked. Start Cities. On the main menu, click Content Manager, then click Mods tab, now activate the developer's mods "Unlimited Money" and "Unlock all", and then also your new Unlock All Tiles mod. It will give you a popup. If you want, accept.
Back to main menu, click start new game, you will land in the same spot, but now click the big globe on the far left bottom of your screen. Whoosh! :D Now click a tile you don't own, click buy (unlimited money! and click that symbol again to go back to regular view. That's how you expand, and how you will eventually get to Taipa, Cotai etc! You can continue playing unlimited money if you like, or go back and just leave the Unlock All Tiles mod active.
MrMiyagi  [author] 23 Jul, 2017 @ 2:49pm
Hi thomaskyhui! Welcome to the game, and the end of your social life :D I'm happy to help. So when you started that new game, you noticed you've just got a piece of Macau. You also can't see Taipa etc. That's correct. As you expand your city's territory, you can purchase each square and get closer to the other side.

But let's help you out a little more. If there is any one mod that you might want to have, it is this very simple old and trusty mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=403798635 It gives you the power to unlock all 25 squares. The base game only allows 9. There are other mods that do this, including one that unlocks 81 tiles, but I don't advise it especially for a beginner, it can cause a giant mess of your game. I still use the old one I linked for you

Here's a walkthrough so you can take a peek at the whole map first. and then you cen start a new game all fresh .. next comment
thomaskyhui 22 Jul, 2017 @ 9:32pm
Sorry, MrMiyagi, I am new to this game and after I downloaded your map and start a game with it, I could only see Macau Peninsular when I zoom out to the maximum extent. I could not see Taipa/Cotai/Coloane. Are there any mods I missed to download? Thanks.

Here's Avanya's entire series of sewage treatment buildings. I hate even the idea of dumping sewage into a simulated river (lol) so I love using this series because it is a building that basically sucks up the sewage instead of dumping it. She makes excellent models, they perform very well if you have a limited computer. Almost all my custom public service buildings are Avanya or Kliekie :) Tell them i sent you :D https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=565043158
MrMiyagi  [author] 7 Jul, 2017 @ 6:04am
Hi tim_vanloo, true, the currents on the ocean side by the bridge (East) aren't much of anything at all. I believe on the left side of the Macau peninsula (so, West side, riverside) has two little bits of water which I placed small water spawns in to push the sewage away. If this isn't the case, I'll go in and check to be sure for you. Some other options can include using water towers (there are some cool ones in the workshop) for fresh water, or you can avoid having to empty sewage into your waters completely by using one of Avanya's many sewage treatment plants. I use the water clarifiers, they look great, for example in harbor or industrial areas. BRB to post link

MrMiyagi, you are easily my favourite map creator for C:S. You deliver the entire package, flavour text and video for inspiration and all. Please do keep up the great work!!! I thinking about buying mass transit specifically to try Cypres Bayou, but for the moment I will be content with Macau. I do have one question, where do you suggest we put our waste disposal in the water? I tried it along the bridge near the starting area but the currents there are weak and all the waste just centered around a specific point halfway along the bridge. Or do you recommend a mod for this? Cheers!

MrMiyagi  [author] 22 Apr, 2017 @ 10:24am
Hi Mansi! I sort of doubt it :/ but I do have a nice Hong Kong heightmap that I have prepared and run through a program called WIlbur. It's all ready to go for you to create a map on it in map editor! It doesn't get the whole territory, but it does get the highest population areas. Glad to give it to you if you want it! :)
Peperry 22 Apr, 2017 @ 9:15am
Nice to see it. Will we have a Hong Kong Map?
MrMiyagi  [author] 27 Mar, 2017 @ 12:32am
Hi there Jerry! It was really interesting to learn more about Macao. That bridge and tunnel project O.O Wow! Hopefully we'll get more HK / Macao buildings from 3d model creators. I can't do that, but I can make parks :D I just posted a Chinese Scholar's garden.
Vallens 26 Mar, 2017 @ 3:00am
Macanese say Hi here! It's good to see my hometown's map in Cities Skyline :steamhappy:! The map is very accuracte and I can see you have done some serious research there :) Sadly it's quite hard to recreate the almost entirely mix-use zoning cities in this game, no to mention there isn't a lot of assets that capture the building style in Hong Kong and Macau. Meanwhile I am not talent enough to create assets that look nice and realistic like those on the workshop. But anyway, thanks for the great work, get to grap it and be creastive!
poopcananot 25 Mar, 2017 @ 11:35pm
Very nice.
MrMiyagi  [author] 23 Mar, 2017 @ 7:17am
Astralmist :D No, that's not a problem at all! Thinking about it prompted me to make my own RICO versions with vanllla building stats. It's working a lot better :D Also, helping nice people is never a waste of my time :steamhappy:
walter_nyc - cool! I'm very happy when players fine tune things to their liking! I get more ideas that way :D
Astralmist 23 Mar, 2017 @ 12:58am
@MrMiyagi Alright I found the cause which was my own fault.

Somehow, one of the Loading Screen Mod options was checked that disabled loading generic industrial assets.

Sorry for wasting your time. :sad_creep:
walter_nyc 22 Mar, 2017 @ 6:48pm
Playing right now on this one. Only changed to put more grassland and oil. Very nice map and works great. Thanks !
MrMiyagi  [author] 22 Mar, 2017 @ 12:20pm
That specialization quirk is truly weird :/ I also am using RICO but just recently. I've noticed I have the opposite problem - the industrial demand almost never ends, no matter how many industrial buildings I can plunk down :D One of my guesses is that some people put in whacky numbers for rico buildings that they think are more "realistic", but which are clearly making the number crunching in the game go completely off the rails. One commercial building with 70 jobs, or 100 residents in one building. They aren't taking the actual game mechanics into account, jus twhat they think is more "realistic" to them personally. Guess I'll have to make my own version of some RICO items
Astralmist 22 Mar, 2017 @ 10:47am
Yes, I'm running RICO but not any building themes.Running the simulation in 3x speed, the R and C are fine.
I found out that setting a district and giving a specialization spawns buildings but when I switch it back to generic, they get demolished.
I'll see what recent additions I have subscribed...
MrMiyagi  [author] 22 Mar, 2017 @ 10:28am
I had the same industry problem on another new city, and it turned out to be a regular building theme (not a mod)! That was a big surprise to me. I turned off the theme requirement in the district policies, and poof, the industrial started spawning. So, I hope it's that simple
MrMiyagi  [author] 22 Mar, 2017 @ 10:25am
Hi Astralmist! It shouldn't be anything in the map, since nothing about different zones nor buildings can be influenced by what comes with a mod-free map. I do know some reasons why that might happen to you, though. Are you using any mods like Building Themes by District or RICO mod, or even a regular building theme? Any other mods? Also, how long have you run the simulation? Industrial demand can take a while to start up. Your number one suspect for this sort of problem is going to be a mod.
Astralmist 22 Mar, 2017 @ 10:20am
Hi, I'm not getting any industrial built even when the demand is maxed from starting a new city. Also, I'm not using any demand mods.

I have tried loading another city save and the buildings spawn just fine. Am I missing something or it's the map?
Nomad2568 19 Mar, 2017 @ 4:34am
Think i will use this for my next city, thanks
MrMiyagi  [author] 18 Mar, 2017 @ 12:53am
Hi Ascleplus, all you do is click the green "subscribe" button above, then open the game, select new game, choose this map, and start making whatever kind of city you like on simulated Macao's land! :steamhappy:
