In general it is interesting. But Not very difficult, especially with clues.

Really good puzzle! :D

Thanks! I was missing the cube from the very first room (doing it again now).

@Bensenhaver: Wow! You are a figther - good on you. Please watch the walkthrough video posted in this map's workshop (where the screenshots are above). It's from an older version of this map, but it should present you all tricky parts. Btw: There may(?) appear a glitch with the cube button upstairs, which in one occasion got blocked by the portal below - no idea why and quite annouying.

P.S: I also have burning chairs

Hi BierPizzaChips, I'm playing your SPchambers in a row. I'm enjoying them a lot, but I seem to be stuck in this chamber in the house area. I have five beautiful and practical chairs with me and am throwing them everywhere: against the windows, against the portable laser cabinet, against the fireplace, against the tv, against the last fizzler and against the fizzler sign. Still, no results, but i don't want to go to another chamber without having solved this one. Can you help me out with a little hint? Thanks in advance, keep up the good work and thanks for your search for fresh, innovative game elements.

Sorry, puzzles are too esoteric to be fun.

Yes, I mean that 2 white surfaces in the first room. I understand what you mean, if so it seems the portals would be facing the oposite side then, hehe. Anyhow, nice concept. It gave me some hard time trying to figure out things (even with the sign on ground showing a chair, I took a time to figure out what to do with it, lol) :P

Do you mean the two plates required for the object's fling? Yep, there appears sometimes the metal surface which is at the back of these plates. I guess, that Portal struggles with plates of thickness 1. Next time i would increase the plates thickness to 2.

Not sure if it's a bug or what not, but in the first test I couldn't see through portals and I even thought I would get out of the map if I would enter it. But it looks like the portals are working normally, just I couldn't see through them, it seemed like there was a wall in the portal. I may take snapshoots if needed. Anything else beside this, great map! It really gave me some headache to solve it :P

I seem to have gotten trapped in the basement area. A walkthrough would be appreciated.

@Inspirata: Where do you stuck? Happy to help.

As for the test itself, I can't solve it.

It looks like you've gotten better with your Hammer mapping skills at this point. Good job getting the sounds in for the energy ball launcher/catcher.

UPDATED!!!!

Based on the feedback below, more hints, signs and explanations had been placed INGAME to ease the puzzle's solving. Furthermore had been replaced the Portal-Door due to performance issue and a potential crash if the player stood in the door while closing.
The puzzle had been enhanced with a portable laser based on a prefab by Raserman. Please check out his nice proof-of-concept map regards that portable laser:

Well, I spent forever and ever searching but I just can't get that second mirror cube. I've been around the house a hundred times and I can't find a single portal surface. That's an hour of my life I won't be getting back, thanks.

@skh1: It's exactly the purpose of this map to deliver something new. Lesson learned from many years of mapping activity: Some people are always not amused - because there are many contradicting preferences out there. Not blaming the people - it's just impossible to make it right for all of them. Therefore i map what i liked myself - having fun during mapping by doing something new. If the result is fun for you, too - excellent.

The first room's solution is rather obscure as it employs one asset in a way never encounterd in the game to trigger another asset I don't believe has ever been encountered in the game. If you replaced the one with a cube and the other with one of those big red buttons, the solution might be more readily apparent.

@Alexman: If you struggle with the riddle, may i suggest to cheat a little and watch the very detailed walkthrough video posted here in this map's workshop?
Alexman 16 Aug, 2012 @ 6:29pm
I think the portals and such need to be fixed, I couldn't pass the 1st room without dying
