if you have the born to kill vietnam mod run in console "mp_theater_override nam; map saigon_embassy stronghold" take away the quote marks of course and replace stronghold with any other mode u want to run the map on - push etc.

How do you get the weapons and skins for us marines and viet kong? firstly there's like only one server that hosts one of the maps (which is always empty anyway) and when I load up saigon embassy in practice, it spawns with WW2 marines and germans and weapons etc.

No I was looking at the pictures of the map, and noticed that it looks about nothing like the embassy map in Insurgency, as I suppose the only real thing they have in common is the name

No, the discussion I had earlier was about how there was also a map based on the saigon embassy in the old half life kuma game, but this map is entirely new

Oh yeah I know what you mean - they had a map of the same thing I played once ages ago, I think you can still get it on gmod somewhere

Yeah the system is quite different for DOI unfortunately - that's why there's so much trouble with it!

Hi you are so right they have only done INS maps, I take it you have check out the sdk/content/maps/example/sdk_coop.vmf in hammer.

You can do that - just be aware that DOI spawn system is entirely different to INS, so it may confuse they guys if they have only done INS coop maps, also like I said, the system that could be used to initialise blockzones even without conventional INS spawns can't be used in DOI, since its now stronghold rather than checkpoint coop and they don't have an entity which recognises the mode to be stronghold - they just have the legacy checkpoint one from INS.

It's complicated but hopefully the mappers will understand

Yeah the first spawn issue is one that I've had forever, I've reached out to the devs for advice on how to stop it but seeing as DOI is essentially built on top of insurgency rather than anythign new, thigns that could have worked on INS won't work on DOI cos they've overwritten all the stuff.

Put your map on server, there are a few problems your spawnpoint for the bot's looks like they are in the wrong place they spawn at the start of the map while we are still in spawn protect mode and they just kill all of us when the spawn protect end's. They also spawn on top of us in capture points. Great map but for now have taken it off the server till this problem can be sorted. Keep up the good work and I hope you can crack this problem.

Thanks for the latest update Kommissar the map plays much better would be nice to understand the spawn issues but the map is at least completable now. Perhaps a question to the devs because I know chief C had a spawn issue with either Tet or Astonia he may be the person to ask about the specifics of the issue with a vertical map. I'll message him and ask if he could play it through with us one night to see if he knows why it happens!

yes I was thinking that that might have something to do with it, but it shouldn't prevent the spawns at first, although it could be interfering with the german spawns

Thanks for another major update Kommissar hope you finally get to the bottom of the spawn fix, some of the guys were talking in team speak wondering if it's a X-Y axis issue because most maps are flat is this because the respawns are vertical rather than on the flat?

Hey there Kommissar... Added the map, totally understand its a WIP we played it several times last night... On first thoughts obviously fully appreciate missing a few textures, but the progression down from the roof of the building is logical and fun... At the moment respawning is tricky as for the most part both teams seem to spawn in the same place after original spawn. Obviously the whole map would benefit from a lot more office and building internal debris and the final part where you assassinate the general he is actually off the map.

However thanks Kommissar for your continued hard work and support of the game we will play again tonight and report back anything else we find.
