Pellet

While reflecting pellets with cubes is a bit of an annoying task, I'm glad that in this puzzle you were able to make it a bit better, with you not having to hold the cube. I also think I'm just lucky, but I was able to knock down the turret in the second room on my first try.

I agree with most of what @_galaxy said, I didn't enjoy the concept of angling the cube in a way to manipulate the pellet's direction. I also did not like the fling in the second room at all. This map is so old it doesn't really matter tbh.

Overall:

The pellet puzzle on the first chamber was fine, even though it was easy. The pellet puzzle on the second had a furious execution (not to mention quite cheap, since Rexaura and the companion chamber in Portal 1 already used this a ton), and the momentum puzzle was quite good (hitting wall instead of ceilling surface) if not for the fact that it was hidden away. You make some quite good chambers Hugo, but that's not one of them.

This problem would have been easily solved if the entrance to that second chamber was placed on the turret's line of sight (where the button part is) so that it reminds the player of it. Or maybe if the turret had the pellet catcher instead and then a second pellet would spawn.

My second problem with the second chamber is... well with the momentum puzzle. The only real challenge this chamber had was the execution, not one moment of my furious attempts trying to play it I was thinking how to solve the puzzle. This was an exception, however mainly because it was hidden away from the player's view. And you actually mentioned one of those things on your monoportal guide! The "red herring" problem. That part should have been nearly where the turret is (have a cage to his back and upside so it wouldn't hit him).

Ok I didn't like this chamber very much, even though I'm quite a fan of the portal 1 design. But these are more of technical problems.

The first chamber, for instance, doesn't spawn the pellet unless you keep pressing that darn button for some reason. You should make it in the PuzzleMaker as such that the pellet will just despawn if you let go of the button to make the puzzle work better.

The second chamber now, oh boy.... where do I start?
I had actually forgotten on this one the turrets on Portal 2 had a range, as such, I continuously attempted and attempted to aim that pellet while quite near the turret (because in my head I had cover from the wall). It was disastrous simply because like a lot of people here we had quite a ton of near misses, and I personally had to also deal with the constant spray of bullets from the turret!

Nice map! I have seen this type of solution before so it was no problem. Thanks!

Not my cup of tea, but that's my problem, not yours ;)

While I enjoyed it, probably my least favorite of the bunch. That's not a bad thing though. ;-)

Hi! Not a fan of the second test chamber as well, so I didn't solve it, too finnicky! I get error models for the emitters :O!

Hmmm. Not a massive fan of the 2nd puzzle, it is very finiky indeed, however you did a great service to the asthetics and portal 1 style. Good Job!

hugo confirmed???

It is intended, Aur3Dash, but it didn't have to be a weird angle, you could just make it 45° while sitting in the corner next to the glass to make it easier for yourself . Thanks for playing!

I liked the first puzzle, but im not sure about the second one... To kill the turret, I angled the cube in a weird way for the pellet to bounce on it and get to the turret. And i dont think its intended...

1st mistake: Using portal 1 theme when it has lots of known issues and when portal 2 theme would have been 100% acceptable.

2nd mistake: Making the puzzle use unreliable cube physics with a pellet that has almost not telling of what it will do and hitting you kills you instantly.

Thanks for the comment, quat! Yeah, I'm not as fond of this puzzle as of others, and I wish the physics was more reliable. I agree about the turrets: there were 3 because of a previous rendition that required them. I guess I'll take it down to just one. Not gonna use the stabilizers, they'd spoil this puzzle's solution :P
quat 5 Apr, 2017 @ 4:00pm
Yeah, I'll be honest, not a huge fan of this one. Didn't like taking out the turrets either (why do there have to be 3?!) and I thought it was a bit too easy :(

Try using those rexaura cube stabilizers, those make for fun and not-fiddly pellet puzzles
HugoBDesigner  [author] 5 Apr, 2017 @ 2:38pm
If you took the turrets down by knocking them off with pellets reflecting off of the cube , then you're right. Unfortunately, there isn't a more reliable way of making that work because of Valve's super-randomized physics . Still glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for playing!

I liked this first chamber, though it was quite simple, but the second was just... bleh... don't know if I was doing it the wrong way or something, but it was very tedious.

A little tricky but not too hard.:) Thumbs up!
