I love this mod for Winterhold, it has so much potential for a dungeon too, it leaves me wanting more.

Great job! Well thought out and executed. I have hearthfire and I chose to disable the stone quarry/mine and have no issues with the mod so far. Only one con, to me, is the lighting inside is very dim, could use some overhead light.

I've got to say I'm really looking foward to seeing what Fenlock has found in the cave, having had this mod for quite a while its been great to see his excavations steadily increase and the new diary entries, really been brilliant for the immersion :-)

Ah. Right, I wasn't sure. The main reason I said about not wanting to collaborate was the hastle of sending files back and forth, changes overlapping, etc. A writing collaboration would be cool, as it would not need so much back and forth sending of mod files. I would be happy to chat about ideas for the mod. If we were to decide to use any of your ideas then I could put you as a co-author.

Cool - I'm not a "mod creator" - I am a writer ... nothing more. (at the moment). But totally understand and respect where you are coming from. Excellent mod and it is great that you saw this need and 'went for it'.

I am currently working on the ice dungeon below Fenlok's place, in which the player will be able to fight frost atronachs and uncover the source of the frost atronach infestation, possibly as a sidequest or misc objective.

For now I don't really want to collaborate with other modders, at least not on my existing projects.

As I mention in the mod description, he is protected, meaning only the player can kill him.

Yeah, I looked for him there, too. Not sure what caused it. Could he have been killed? I get attacked by dragons... a lot. :-P

Hmm... strange. He goes to the inn every evening, but he has always returned on schedule in my game. In my next update to the mod, I will probably add something players can activate to bring him back to the cave if he gets lost.

I noticed that Fenlock stepped outside and... never came back. Just vanished. I had to use the console command to spawn him back in his cave. Just an FYI. Thanks for this MUCH needed addition to Winterhold.

I have already noticed and updated the description to mention it. If you find it annoying, my recommendation is to use the console to disable the quarry.

I tried making an additional optional module which removes the quarry, but mods I make which rely on HearthFires.esm don't actually make any changes to the game. It is very annoying.

I Noticed since installing Hearthfire that a stone Quarry is not right on the same spot as the door for the Blacksmiths... which is very in considerate of Bethesda... on the plus side the quarry made the door look like it was freezing over and its still accessible :-)

Actually I was thinking a Draugr side and a Frost Atronach side, to retrieve a key artifact from each to unlock the final area. Don't know how long it will take to complete, but I am planning on multiple chambers with traps, combat and puzzles.

Will there be foes that we need to kill and traps or just a set of tunnels? How about a 2 hour dungeon with 2 branched a drauger and a flamer branch. After going through one we need to unlock the door to the falmer side with some key we found. Than we go through the falmer/dwemer ruins and find the second artifact?

@azuresun My idea for the ice caves is that somewhere below the ice is a mysterious magic which is draining the heat out of the mountain, meaning that the ice caves stay cold no matter what heat sources are put in there. Fenlok knows there is something going on so is trying to mine through to the ancient tunnels under the ice (hence he sometimes plays the mining animation in the two icy alcoves in the cave). I was going to add an exploration quest into the bowels of the ice caves to figure out what's going on, but I decided to release it in a more simple form before deciding whether or not to do so.

Nice idea for the exterior placement since Winterhold is missing a lot. However, it does not seem like a good idea to have a hot forge in an ice cave. I think it would look better if the interior was more like a regular cave or underground dwelling.

@tabbi_cats_meow Are you sure you're not thinking of Windhelm? Winterhold is the ruined clifftop town where the College of Winterhold is. I am not aware of a blacksmith or graveyard there.

You know there's already a blacksmith in Winterhold, right? He lives immediately to the left, down that road. There's a huge forge and sign and everything. Past the graveyard, can't miss it...
