Tonauac is just allergic to modded food.

Unfortunate. I put the error in the bug reports in case you want to look into it.

It could be how the buffs are applied. If modded food doesn't utilize the vanilla systems in place to provide the buff, and instead does their own thing, then yes it will break tonouac (hence why he dies). Or will provide no bonuses.

This mod does not appear to work with modded foods very well. Tonuac dies if you feed him betabound candy.

I also discovered that the container is affected by enhanced storage so if you don't use a food stack mod you can put more food in that way.

Doesn't work with Amega's universal food preservation.
Tonauac will eat the canned food but give no blessing.

@bidiguilo Yeah I mainly did this because I do survival mode and I like to hunt to keep hunger down. So I can just have a little farm to handle foods for the buffs I want, go to this guy to have it apply for an hour. And that way I don't have to worry about carrying so much food everywhere or going back and forth from my farm so often, and instead rely on hunting to keep my hunger down.

And since the original buff from this guy is an hour, it makes sense that the rest of the buffs should be removed by that point as well (at least if using vanilla, if using food stack you can get up to 24 hours of the buffs).

I noticed that this mod doesn't give any advantages over eating the food yourself. I think it would be better if it gave like a 1.5x multiplier to the duration of the effects

Just tested it and it works perfeclty fine.

@Mabra I would try it? If it doesnt work it will either kick you back to your ship or just not work. There is nothing persistant so you can uninstall at any time.

Food mods... I'd say FU, and Classic Food mechanics.
I tried with vanilla foods as well, same result as well.

Doesn't work... He consumes the food, but no buffs were added other than the usual blessing. I can't think of which mod it might be conflicting with though.

What would happen if you were to put multiple different foods with a food stacking mod? such as 9 of each Frackin' universe cookies? (The ones that you can buy from the science outpost) Would you get all of the effects or would you get only one effect?

I don't think that Outpost NPC's like Tonuac have been altered either. Sorry for bothering you.

but I don't have it installed so if anything glaring like the npc has moved, dialogue has changed, or npc behavior has changed then let me know and I can take a closer look

Um, I dont think the npc has been modified to 1.04 so I don't see why not

@Boltte I believe it is the 3rd character you unlock. So once you scan enough avian stuff and complete the mission tonauac will become available at the outpost

Not sure how far the kleux temple is, is it after investigating the avians out(coz that's where I'm up to...) or is this character like endgame stuff? haha......

yeah i just checked your screenshot. you haven't beaten his part of the story. So naturally he wouldn't yet be available.

@Boltte did you complete tonuacs story yet? he doesnt appear there until you beat the kleux temple and get the stone.

it seems that they keep changing my boi Tonauac. Ill take a look at it next weekend and see what is up. If you can, it would be super beneficial to share your starbound.log file when it breaks as the information provided can pinpoint what is going on.

Wait... Tonauac is an Avian, which are bird people. Birds regurgitate food to their young... is he giving us the benefits of this food by eating and regurgitating it into our mouthes and calling it a "blessing"? Bleh.

@Riganz The problem is that I rely on the fact that there is also only one container near him. If you spawn him on the ship that constant would be lost and therefore would require much more work getting the same functionaltiy. As now you would need to spawn tonuac and then somehow register a container for him to look at. This would be beyond what I am willing to commit.

Remember that the food buffs are limited to 24hr spans, and the rest gets taken while not giving extra time.

yeah, or like, you can craft a thousan of the same food type, and use that mod that makes food stack, and give it all to him

@CyberFox honesly this was born so i could actually feel like hunting can be useful again. Now that I dont hae to min/max eating cakes all damn day it frees me up to hunt as I please

Extra Buffs for ever until i get tired of this game, wich will only happen by the ending of my regular human lifespam

@everyone mod has been updated. Now supports Yes Chef and FU foods. (and all other foodsfor that matter as well)

@Riganz I truely wish I could. The problem with this is that practically anyone in a multiplayer setting that doesnt have this mod will be disconnected without any information as to why. which is just silly, but that is how starbound mods work. Therefore I chose the safer option :D

but still its a great mod!
