@dmc: exactly.

not exactly a common accent to find. there's Lara's friend from Tomb Raider: Legend you meet up with in Paraiso, but she'd have far too few lines to make a voicepack out of, and she's an engineer, not the fighting type.

@arkhangel: I would agree if your'e looking strictly for African accents but that would be a serious problem because alot of the ethnic voices are not done by the ethnic groups your'e speaking of. I believe you actually named 5 and that's not plenty btw in comparison to what...300.

Fletcher from Dirty bomb is voiced by Jimmy Akingbola and that is actually rare in video games because many ethnic voices are not done by ethnic actors at all as I mentioned before. The 2 guys I mentioned do African-American, ethnic accents and European American voices phil Lamarr even does Aquaman!

Sheva Alomar is not an African accent or voice she is voiced by Karen Dyer and she's American not African that’s not a direct from Africa voice in any way at all. In the game she is born in Africa and grew up in Europe and has a slight british accent, and her accent is Jamaican trying to pass as African.

@dmc: prob with a few of those is they're african american-accented. I was thinking more Swahili-accented, from-africa-directly here. We've got plenty of african-american ones. Aura from Dirty Bomb, Sargeant Johnson, Coletrain from GoW, that Saint's Row male boss pack Walker just did...

just doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense for a Nigerian to have that accent, hence my point earlier. there's a definite difference in vocal inflection. Fletcher from Dirty Bomb is a great example of a direct-from-africa guy's accent. Sheva Alomar... is kinda one mixed with having spent time around brits, but she does actually speak african phrases as well as English on occasion too.

That's great Texas Ranger, like the diversity and choices you present excellent work. Thanks for your time and effort. If you want some African accents in games look for phil lamar and keith david they are the voices in tons of video games. I know of others if you need them I'll have to get some females I can think of only 2-3 in the game now Rochelle, Aura, and Pharah and you have the only one I use constantly, Rochelle. If you ever find another Rochelle please post she's awesome in the game fits perfect imo.

If you ever played metal gear the character "Vamp" is phil lamar. I can think of a perfect Jamaican accent in the game saints row 2 "Mr.Sunshine" great accent too similiar to Fletcher. Of course you know of Captain David Anderson in the Mass Effect Series. Once again great work.

@Walker, Texas Ranger
Awesome, I hope there ends up being enough lines to make something work. Always a fan of your work, man. Appreciate all the time and effort that goes into it.

@Arkhangel @scoobasteve You're right, in fact I've been trying to get an African accent in the game for a while now. Started with Far Cry 2 thinking that there would be a few voices to work with since it takes place is friggin Africa but I couldn't get it extracted. The beginning level of Black Ops 3 takes place in Ethiopia I think but the soldiers didn't have any order confirmation audio at all so that was a no go. One of the Call of Duty games has a few Africa levels but there wasn't enough audio.

Right now I'm working on Far Cry 3 audio, one of the pirate voices is I assume some sort of African accent (the voice actor was the Persian agent that bribed the ephors in the movie 300) but it's very tedious since there's thousands of lines and none of them are sorted by voice. So far I've managed to get 400 lines but of that only 4 are order confirmation lines. Have to have more than that, it'll get annoying hearing those same 4 lines every time you order him to do something.

@Sputnik Monroe Yeah, having a squad of people speaking different languages seems a little hard to coordinate. And yeah I was skeptical of Saints Row being a good source for voice packs but they turned out pretty good. Not too wacky, just not professional soldiers.

@Arkhangel
Agreed, I haven't been able to think of a good source for African accents though, nothing that comes to mind would have enough lines to build a voicepack from. Still hoping the International Voices Pack can put something together if they get enough audio submissions.
Arkhangel 22 Apr, 2017 @ 2:39am
honestly, the one accent area we're really suffering a lack of? We need more African ones. We've got maybe four total i can think of. Fletcher from DB, Ana and Pharah from Overwatch and Sheva Alomar from Resident Evil.
dmc32 21 Apr, 2017 @ 10:16pm
Luv her accent, thanks for this.
Sputnik Monroe 21 Apr, 2017 @ 10:11pm
Never played the Saints Row games ,just not my cup of tea. These voice packs are very good though and fit the game very well. Thank you so much for releasing them, I'm especially happy because I've always wanted to have English voices with accents rather than people speaking different languages within the same squad :-P

Your awesome WTR1

:D

Good job
Walker Texas Ranger  [author] 21 Apr, 2017 @ 4:26pm
I think that's all of them now. All that's left is to update the English accent pack with some of the better lines from SR4.

The Saint's Row goodness continues. Much appreciated!
