The Overtuned stuff that I selected should take -70 years off the leaders, which is excessive for a normal species (okay for Lithoids maybe) but the Drow & Elves should have "paid for" longer life spans.

Looking forward to the update!

@Dottor Nulla
I'm sitting on a update that's being held up due to the Art Department at the moment. (New gateway/mass relay model.)

Umm yeah that's a tad much.Or a tad too little. :lunar2019crylaughingpig: I'll double check all our numbers again before uploading. :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
doctornull 10 Jul @ 4:27pm
Did the age bonus change? I see +900% instead of 650 years for Drow now.

This is killing my Overtuned Drow empire which had done pretty well previously:

Archaeo-Engineers is cool, but Drow should get an Arachno-Engineers AP.
MintMangoz 3 Jul @ 11:50am
Is there a version with just the shipsets?
TheGrandN  [author] 29 Jun @ 10:09am
@Dottor Nulla
Hmm... perhaps we need checks to add that with appropriate DLCs. I'll double check.
doctornull 25 Jun @ 3:35pm
Actually I may have found that the "chaotic" thing is incorrect.

It looks like Prismatic Refuge starts with a red-triangle nebula, but there's no Storm Touched bonus.

So maybe something else is necessary, or maybe I was misinformed.
TheGrandN  [author] 24 Jun @ 3:26pm
@Dottor Nulla
I didn't even notice this. Will look into nebula types again. Dark elfies should probably be chaotic. :lunar2019piginablanket:
doctornull 23 Jun @ 3:17am
A while back I remember talking about a Storm Devotion origin starting in a Nebula, but it turns out there are two different kinds of nebulae -- regular and "chaotic" -- and the nebula-related origins only spawn regular nebulae, which are NOT relevant to Storm Devotion.

Apparently the difference is that normal nebulae have a blue triangle for their environmental effects (which is only to block vision), while "chaotic" nebulae have a red triangle and some kind of additional environmental penalty.

So this is a request for an Elfy origin with a "chaotic" nebula so my Storm Devotion Drow can be OP.
VentarX 21 Jun @ 10:08am
@Princess Stabbity: no problem, i know how to make it workable in the meantime. Given other problems I've had since 4.0 dropped i may be waiting a while before giving the game a serious go again.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 20 Jun @ 6:47pm
@VentarX: Penalties scaling with the lifespan is entirely intended. But the starting age not scaling... I'll look into it. I'm pretty sure there's a modifier to control that. Thank you for the report.
VentarX 19 Jun @ 7:18pm
When i run overtuned origin on an elven race i made prior to 4.0 i noticed all my leaders dying off less than a month into the game. After some testing i found that the starting ages of 300-700 years and how the lifespan negs of the overtuned traits interact with the now % based lifespan bonus of both elven traits were the reason.

I just want to ask if this is an intended design preference? or an unintended consequence of the change in lifespan?
Curithane 18 Jun @ 11:34am
@doctornull so you are just memeing, alright. Well My elves are very Honest, very Honest about eradicating ugly races from the galaxy (objectivy good)
doctornull 18 Jun @ 4:00am
@Fnord - they don't use version control.

@Elf Devs - is it easier than before to create Elf-specific species traits now after Biogenesis?
Princess Stabbity  [author] 18 Jun @ 12:45am
Ahaha... I'm afraid that's impossible. There was never a 3.14 version. The mod has only existed since 4.0.21.
Please also note that there were never any versions of Stellaris prior to 4.0.21.
If any versions of the mod claiming otherwise are referenced somewhere on our Discord, it is nothing more than exercises in creative writing.
Fņŏŕď 17 Jun @ 2:56pm
Is there a 3.14 version of this?
TheGrandN  [author] 13 Jun @ 8:39pm
@Spitfire
I'll run a test again to be sure.

@TehGrannyM - if they aren't consistent, then dealing with Elves means ... playing it by ear
Spitfire 13 Jun @ 3:20pm
Custom elven ringworlds dont work rn, it shows as the default one for some reason
TheGrandN  [author] 12 Jun @ 6:25pm
@Dottor Nulla
They're both prudish and not. Honest and not. Guess that's why we don't seek the counsel of elves, because they answer both yes and no. :steamfacepalm:

:lunar2019crylaughingpig:
doctornull 12 Jun @ 11:17am
@Curithane - I've never met an honest Elf, nor a prudish Elf, therefore in the game they should definitely tend towards immorality.
TheGrandN  [author] 12 Jun @ 9:43am
@Myu
I still haven't had a chance for a game in the new system yet (hopefully this week) but for the upcoming update I'll reduce the higher chance of super old leaders popping up in the meantime.
Myu 11 Jun @ 9:33pm
@TheGrandN Not really from what I've played if you get a really old leader like 850+ he will eventually die in mid game, I've done a personal fix to increase their lifespan so thhat doesn't happpen, thanks for responding tho :er_uwu:.

@Curithhane Because Immortal elves are cool, if they dont have it baseline at least give them a trait to obtain it like machines do.
Curithane 11 Jun @ 2:09pm
@doctornull: why do you think elves should be immoral??

@Undercover: Agreed. MY Elves purge disgusting/ugly lifeforms (so basically everything but other Elfs, Humans and Dwarfs) and all Synthetics.
Undercover 6 Jun @ 10:39am
@doctornull naaah immortality is the main selling factor about elves (beside celestial beauty).

morally they have to be always on "a high horse" no matter what they do and use their moral standards on every other species no matter how objectively inferior/limited they are

like my elves, banning and destroying any form of robotics and cybernetics just because they dont need it in their perfection
doctornull 5 Jun @ 7:27pm
It's more important that Elves are immoral rather than immortal, though immortality is definitely also nice.

Feature / submod requests:
- Assimilate elves into each other
- Assimilate dark elves <-> elves (higher tech level than just same-category assimilation)
- Force-spawn Elf origin primitives & special systems if no regular empire nor FE is using that origin -- e.g. primitive Prismatic Refuge, primitive Moon Elves, primitive Celestial Throne system, etc. if their special system isn't present in a galaxy.
Paladin Dawnheart 5 Jun @ 6:48pm
Star Oath + Regular Star Oath Leaders + Elves of Stellaris = Good times (and immortal leaders)
TheGrandN  [author] 5 Jun @ 3:36pm
@Myu
We're planning on adding to that going forward with new versions. They're still effectively immortal ... unless you're like me and play games that last a really long time. :lunar2019piginablanket:
Myu 5 Jun @ 1:08pm
Why are the regular elves no longer Immortal :(?
Paladin Dawnheart 3 Jun @ 1:07pm
lol thank you <3
TheGrandN  [author] 2 Jun @ 11:16am
@Paldin
Thou must preseth onward with thine Stellaris version 4.whatevereth. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Which reminds me I didn't do the update I have sitting here. Doing it now. AHEM. :steamfacepalm:
Paladin Dawnheart 2 Jun @ 6:54am
"There is no past version of stellaris. There has only been and only will be THIS version. Suggestions of past versions are clearly Blorg conspiracy theories."

Sigh

I really want to go back to 3.14...
Paladin Dawnheart 1 Jun @ 2:25pm
Stopping by once again after another long break to thank you all for this mod. After all this time you're still here and still working on the mod, can't thank you enough for not only keeping it alive, but improving it along the way. Must feel like a part time job! Thank you so much and much love!
TheGrandN  [author] 30 May @ 11:08pm
@Abel
Male elfies are on their way with the portrait 2.0 release. (One of the reasons it's taken so long. Female only is a lot simpler!)
AlbeltheWicked 30 May @ 9:22pm
This mod is great, love the ship designs especially!!!
Any hope of getting some beautiful male elves ever? <3
Princess Stabbity  [author] 29 May @ 12:11pm
@Dinzu: Right, that's unfortunately a UI issue, so there's nothing we can do. It seems to be hardcoded that only specific resources can be listed under upkeep. And another issue is that scaled modifiers don't display their scaled value in the summary.

But at least the actual mechanics work correctly if you ignore the tooltips.
Dinzu 29 May @ 9:12am
Looking at the files it seems to be working correctly. It just lists trade as a produced item in the jobs description in-game for some reason, causing a bit of confusion.
Dinzu 29 May @ 9:04am
Not entirely sure if it's a bug, intended or some other mod of mine doing it, but with the Celestial throne Origin every 'Celestial X' job provided by leaders consumes Trade instead of generating it making them cost both Consumer Goods and Trade.
核动力科研驴 28 May @ 2:23am
Hey, could you re-upload the old version mod for 3.14? The 4.0 version has too many mods that just won’t run, so I'm thinking about going back to 3.14.
TheGrandN  [author] 27 May @ 2:43pm
@lemurs
Whoops. That sounds very plausible. I'll ... get that fixed for the update. (We've got one coming soonish, won't be game breaking.)
lemurs2 27 May @ 12:08pm
Okay, GrandN I swear I am not wrong this time!
Error in the the good Dark Elves, their home planet has a special blocker giving merchant jobs, which do not seem to exist in 4.0. I have trader jobs but no merchants. So, yeah, I have 125 merchant jobs empty since it no longer exists.

N, which thing did I over look this time?
TheGrandN  [author] 27 May @ 10:14am
@Octo
If possible to do, yes. Focusing on more important replacements at the moment though.
OCTOP01 27 May @ 9:29am
Does the art department still consider the possibility of adding unique fallen empire cosmogenenis ships for the elven shipset?
doctornull 27 May @ 8:27am
Leader mass death during Synth ascension had been a bug back in 3.12:

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/stellaris-leaders-mass-death-during-synthetic-ascension.1681853/

Dunno how they fixed it (or if they did) but it might be worth looking into for elves.
TheGrandN  [author] 27 May @ 8:23am
@Tyra
The roadmap is the new portraits 2.0 first, then dark elf ships. So... eventually. :lunar2019piginablanket:
ted 26 May @ 5:35am
Does anyone have a backed up version of the 3.14 version to upload as a separate mod instance on steam eg - 3.14 elves of stellaris (legacy) or something along those lines?
tyralion 26 May @ 3:13am
Concerning the requested shipsets - when will the drow ships fully release? ;)
tyralion 26 May @ 2:49am
@doctornull:
Thank you, I was not aware. I don't have the Machine Age DLC, but I guess it was a general change.
@TheGrandN: I reloaded my former save a couple years back, and the same thing happened. Everybody nearly instantly died, including not yet hired leaders. New ones, after a refresh of the "to hire" list are 5 years old or so and not dying.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 26 May @ 12:46am
@Clockwokis:Yup, we do have some plans for a few of them! We can't afford to commit to another rework of *that* scale in the foreseeable future, but I am personally hoping to at least give each of the neglected origins a decent touch-up.
Clockwokis 25 May @ 9:43pm
Do you intent to add more content to the elves outside of celestial throne? They feel sorta barebones in comparison.
