Fancy, thanks!

Desctiption updated to include a link to your patch, Arigas.
Rosalie 17 Dec, 2018 @ 11:24am
I updated the compatibility patches to work with Lots of Traditions (PT+EST) now, so this and the removed cost alternative will work with them again. Need to get them to remove the cost modifier from their files, since it is literally the vanilla value now in the games defines file. (By the way, may want to update your description, vanilla is 5% now, not 10% :P)
Rosalie 17 Dec, 2018 @ 10:35am
Oh, just noticed, there is an identical issue with !Lots of Traditions. Going to see if I can quickly fix that as well.

Just double checking that my compatibility patch is working, then will upload it and drop the link here. Will only need to be updated when/if Plentiful changes their defines.

This mod name already comes well before plentiful traditions does in the list, though, doesn't it? Certainly shows up well above it in mine.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 16 Dec, 2018 @ 10:12pm
would that need to be in the mod name itself, or in one ofthe file names? I could theoretically make that change myself, since the only reason you'd use this mod is to override any other vanilla/modded settings of this specific variable.
Rosalie 16 Dec, 2018 @ 10:05pm
@Tigercat if the only change they make in that file is what conflicts with this one, make a local mod that overrides it, and name it something like !!TraditionCostReducer. Name doesn't matter, so long as it has more ! than the mod it is overriding.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 16 Dec, 2018 @ 5:58pm
And, if we can get the original author to make the change themselves, it will also fix the problem for anyone else that wants to use both mods.
Tigercat 16 Dec, 2018 @ 5:35pm
I love both and have generally relied on a mod that made them compatible with each other in the past. I actually fumbled around in the files and found the plentiful traditions defines file where it overwrites your change, I would just change it myself but I get the feeling itll change back every time that mod updates and those updates are coming pretty fast and furious right now.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 16 Dec, 2018 @ 5:33pm
Thanks for checking that out for me, you've saved me a great deal of time. I'll leave a comment on the Plentiful traditions mod about the conflict, since there's nothing I can do on my end to improve compatibility, as this mod is literally only a single line.

I've never used Plentiful Traditions, as I prefered Expanded Stellaris Traditions and it's Ascension Perk partner.
Tigercat 16 Dec, 2018 @ 5:28pm
Alright, here's what I found out: This mod and Plentiful Traditions 2.2.1 by SI-Abominus do not work together. Out of curiosity I tried this mod with Expanded Stellaris Traditions by Girion and that combination *does* work, so it's not something inherent to any traditions mod. Something in Plentiful Traditions seems to be overwriting your changes, wish I could provide more detail but I haven't the first clue about how to mod this game myself.
Tigercat 16 Dec, 2018 @ 5:10pm
Hm, yes, incompatible with *something,* gonna work on finding the conflict now
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 16 Dec, 2018 @ 4:52pm
That's odd, it was working for me earlier. Is it possble you have another mod interefering? IF you can launch a solo game with JUST this mod turned on, and test it, that would be hugely useful.
Tigercat 16 Dec, 2018 @ 4:36pm
Yep, mod isn't working, still a flat 5% penalty per tree unlocked
Chrono-Bonker 30 Mar, 2018 @ 1:48pm
Greetings, as of 2.0.2, it appears Paradox reduced the penalty modifier from +10% cost per catergory to +5% cost. But I'm not getting the removed unity penalty nor the bonus per catergory. Just thought I'd give the heads up, hope your grandmother gets better soon.

Thanks friend
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 25 Jan, 2018 @ 3:01am
I modified a couple lines in the vanilla '00defines' file. The restof hte file was untouched, so this should be compatible with everything unless it changes those specific lines.
I'm not going to be able to update just to change the version number, (to get rid of that stupid, near useless outdated marker), unfortunately I've taken on the care of my elderly grandmother, and my time and focus are limited. If the mod is actually broken, then i'll look into doing what I can to fix it.
duke dunac 24 Jan, 2018 @ 8:47pm
Will this be updated? Also did you modify the vanilla file?
Rosalie 23 Sep, 2017 @ 1:50pm
No problem, haven't had an issue with it yet, so unless there is something I'm not seeing, yea, just need to update the version :P
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 23 Sep, 2017 @ 11:45am
Thanks for letting me know, saves me a headache later.
Rosalie 22 Sep, 2017 @ 8:04pm
Seems to work fine with 1.8, in case anyone is wondering.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 14 Jul, 2017 @ 10:05am
And thanks for your message ^^ it's allways nice to know a mod is appreciated.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 14 Jul, 2017 @ 10:04am
The mod should work just fine in 1.6.2. Ignore the little red marker - all it does it refer to a version number, not wether the mod will work or not. There's mods I use that havent updated since 1.0 that work just fine.

If you test it out and it actually fails, let me know and i'll get on to fixing it asap.
Rubi 13 Jul, 2017 @ 4:45pm
Any plans on updating the mod for 1.6.2? :3 I like playing big empires and your mod makes it so much better! <3
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 26 Jun, 2017 @ 9:13pm
Unless 1.6.2 made changes to traditions, I would expect so. Sorry I haven't had the chance to test it.
Rock_n_Ro11 26 Jun, 2017 @ 8:27am
Does this mod work on 1.6.2?
Chrono-Bonker 8 Jun, 2017 @ 11:00am
:steamhappy:
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 8 Jun, 2017 @ 10:59am
Much appreciated, I'm glad you like the mod, and my grandmother is on the mend, thankfully.
Chrono-Bonker 8 Jun, 2017 @ 10:51am
Thanks for the awesome mod, Kreldin, and I hope that your family member gets well soon!
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 8 Jun, 2017 @ 5:48am
I've updated the mod to 2.5%, since 2% felt a touch low. Let me know how it works out for you, and we'll see if it needs adjusting.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 8 Jun, 2017 @ 5:32am
Thanks for the testing, I've had a rough few days thanks to an unwell family member, and haven't had the energy to look into it.
Diseenith 7 Jun, 2017 @ 10:19pm
I edited it to -2% and seems to work well. -3% should also be fine although maybe a bit excessive once you get to 15+ tradition trees. The value seems multiplicative to the rest which are additive. Its (Base+Tradition Penalty+Population Penalty)x(Tradition Tree penalty)x(Owned Colony Penalty). The colony and tradition penalities are multiplicative of the entire thing, so if one hits 0 (or even like 90%) it'll trivilize the entire cost.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 5 Jun, 2017 @ 2:44am
That's... not something I had realised would happen. I havent tested that far, and i'm surprised thatit's not balanced out by the increasing costs from other things like colonies and pops. Thanks for letting me know, I'll see if i can update the mods today, either to reduce the bonus, or see if i can introduce a hard cap to the bonus.
Tigercat 3 Jun, 2017 @ 8:13pm
Pretty much came here to say the exact same thing Dizzy Bat. Just tested it, it's kinda funny after a certain point traditions start giving you unity when you take them
Diseenith 3 Jun, 2017 @ 3:15pm
One issue I've found with this mod is on large traditions mods once you get 10+ trees the cost of each tradition goes down. At 20 trees (using the new merged traditions) all traditions are free.

Perhaps a -2% mod might be more fair? It'd cap out but work really well.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 17 May, 2017 @ 1:28pm
Glad you like it! :fhappy:
Chrono-Bonker 17 May, 2017 @ 1:25pm
Finally, a mod that takes a balanced approach to handling Unity. No more waiting 160 months to get a new perk! :steamhappy:
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 17 May, 2017 @ 11:25am
@Mugani : Thankyou! I'm glad you like it.

@Christopher : Thanks for telling me, I'd probably have missed it otherwise. As for tomorrow? We'll just have to find out.
TortoTheConqueror 17 May, 2017 @ 11:20am
So, you're on the front page today Kreldin. Where will you be tomorrow...?
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaniel 17 May, 2017 @ 8:31am
Very nice mod! A must have, if you play with mods that add new traditions.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 17 May, 2017 @ 5:13am
Hahah, Awesome. I hope you enjoy it!

Subbed.
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 16 May, 2017 @ 2:03pm
Sure, I'll be updating for 1.6.1 late tonight or early tomorrow. That said, it should work anyway. That little red warning really only checks for a single version number, and doesnt tell you wether the mod will work or not. I have working mods in my list that haven updated since 1.2.0.
The mod should be fine in 1.6.1 if you just ignore the outdated warning, since 1.6.1 didnt change anythign related to unity as far as I'm aware. Try it out, and if it doesnt work, tell me and i'll update immedately.
Thanks for commenting, and enjoy your game!
Kentumatsu 16 May, 2017 @ 1:59pm
Can we get version for 1.6.1?
Kreldin Starfeather  [author] 11 May, 2017 @ 8:02am
Heh, thanks. You're a dweeb. XD
