Yes I'm long time fan of your historical events pack mod. Sadly Holy Fury made some of them obsolete as you said. I just wish it was guaranteed to happen it every run. That might be HIP change. I will ask them if I can edit the files to make 4th crusade event trigger %100. Thanks for the fast reply, much love.

I think the only real way to get a Fourth Crusade is to either hope or manually look at the event and do it for an appropriate character and then the event itself will fire off normally after that. But that last part might not be appealing if you want to just get on with the game. Sometimes it might not happen, sometimes it might. I can have a look at the game files and see what makes it tick, but I'm not really planning to update this mod, so any changes will likely go in my Historical Events Pack mods.

Espritviril`` Unfortunately not because I actually preferred the way they did it (even if I originally put it in the game via the mod) but I kept this mod in for those who wanted the old version before Holy Fury, which as it turns out might not be that many. For HIP, I have my "Historical Events Pack HIP" version which adds in a couple of events originally from this mod but I've mainly left it to the Holy Fury one because it's done in a much better and much clearer way (in my opinion).

Hello, I play with HIP and there 4th crusade is not guaranteed to happen. Does this mod still work ? I wanna have guaranteed 4th crusade. I used to love this mod before pdx stole your mod and made it a DLC. Will it work with latest patch ?

Eternantium Possibly, but no guarantee. I only know it works for before Holy Fury, and because it's outdated I was never inclined to update it. I might have a look into it actually

Does this mod still work with the patch? I can't afford HF yet, I'm not sure if the crusade happens in the patch or if you need the DLC. This mod could be valueable to users without the DLC if the crusade is not a patch feature.

MightNight Yep :p, I designed it that way to make sure the Fourth Crusade would only occur if Orthodoxy is in the great city due to the risk of Islamic invasions or other religions taking hold of the city but the schism thing in CK2+ is a nice side-effect it seems

Ahah yeah luckily CK2+ focuses on balance rather than historic outcomes, so I guess it can get away with it :P. So it requires Constantinople to be Orthodox? Awesome, that means that if the Schism (CK2+ starts of with a united Chalcedonian Christianity) never happens, this event will not fire

Also, this is event based around a Crusade being called so if a Crusade was called against an Orthodox nation the story makes a lot less sense because it requires Constantinople being Orthodox and the Crusaders are there for supplies, not necessarily for conquest (although that is basically what it becomes). Then again, I suppose one could argue the Crusader demands are the equivelent of demands from an enemy so I guess it kind of works?

I know CK2+ allows Catholic to call crusades against orthodox if special conditions are followed. But this gives it the chance to atleast happen once. Thanks man!

Slothinator Enrico Dandolo is a character that spawns with the crusade event. It's difficult to design the event chain without him so instead of referring to him as the Doge, I just put him in as a standard character with no land. Thanks for the support!

Hey, I noticed a small thing that was a bit jarring. Could you change the localization of the final event, because for me it said Enrico Dandolo did such and such but the doge was someone different. It's not much of an issue but I thought you should know. Keep up the good work!

The Knights Hospitallers The way the game works prevents it because the Fourth Crusade was almost entirely about the exploits of Venicehijacking the Crusade for their own benefit. The game simply won't do it so it has to be event based which means no war. A Crusade war must be going on for it to trigger but, other than that, that's about the only connection it has.

I know it's alot of work, but I would seriously love the ability to join the crusade. Since the fourth crusade was mainly a lesser noble thing, would it be possible to restrict crusade members to counts and dukes?

The Knights Hospitallers Sadly not because of the way it plays out. I did investigate it during construction but just haven't had time recently to look into it.

I mainly went with the logic that, if the player were able to join the Crusade, then other characters should be able to also but the problem lies in who gets chosen to be Emperor because the Crusaders chose their Emperor after they sacked the city. That was the part that was tricky to me because it would involve either randomisation (which, may work won't be half-fun) or some kind of election event system which can be complicated.

Believe me, I like the idea, hopefully I'll be able to figure something out.

Just tested it and it turns out I made a mistake with the pathing for recognising the mod. It's all fixed now so it should be working... let me know if you have any problems

I've had a look at the downloaded version from here and for some reason, it has decided to remove the Game Rule completely. I even tried putting it in a copy of the original file and that didn't even work. It works on my folder version but apparently that doesn't carry over to the zip file.

I'm gonna provide a direct download link and instructions for those who don't know where to put it until fix can be found. Could be a problem with workshop because I have no issues on my end (which is exactly the same in every way apart from not being zipped).

Gumcard287 top-left on the Game Rules screen, there's a button you can press called "All Rules" and you can select different filters to help with managing the game rules better before you start. The Fourth Crusade mod I put under "Historical Direction" along with the Mongols a couple of others. From there you can set the rule to "Off", "Random" or "Historical". By default it should be on Historical (I believe anyway)

I'm not sure where to find the Historical sub-menu. The mod is enabled according to the contents menu, but nothing appears. Is there something I have to do manually to activate the mod.

Gumcard287 I put it under Historical sub-menu. It's also usually at the bottom with no additional mods that add game rules
