Depends on what you are trying to do! I pay a hosting company to run the server permanently for a group of friends. If you are playing solo then you don't really need that! I wouldn't pay for a server just to work round an issue in this mod, just reduce the research time so that it completes a cycle in the length of time you are normally running for.

Sorry I don't understand the question? I meant that my server is not switched off unless I update it, so I don't really notice the tester being reset. If you are running a game you regularly shutdown it may become an issue for you. I may look at this if I am updating the code at some point.

Sorry, currently, the progress resets when the game server is restarted. I use it on a dedicated server where this isn't an issue.

Except there is no mod that does what this mod does. Cheating in order to craft an item is not a work around, it is a failure of mod design. A large electronic structure doesn't really have much reason to be a hand-crafted, and should be a Fabricator item out of the starting gate. I ran into a similar problem with the Gigantopithecus Mining Chain mod as well.

Fine, though. I guess i'll give up, since you're not interested in doing anything but minor maintenance where this mod is concerned. GFI it is.

That is 301 weight all by itself. Player can be expected to have a certain kit of essentials they have on them at all times(at the bare minimum, a melee weapon, a ranged weapon, some ammo, armor, food and a canteen/water jar/waterskin). If you factor that in, I suspect it quickly becomes more than can be expected to handle. I have been unable to fit the items into my inventory, period, with 250 weight. I am not in the mood to test this out atm, but I suspect that if I went back to look into it, I would be unable to fit everything into my inventory, with S+ pull, cheats, chest or otherwise.

Created a level 7 character with points in weight capacity 160, he can load the 200 ingots 100 electronics and 100 crystal picked up from a chest in front of him.

Also created a level 63 player spread points around. Weight carrying at 310 not unreasonable. Added the items and created the tester. This guy can even move, slowly, with the items in his inventory.

It shows up on my Fabricator just fine tho. I suspect that a number of these people are using Structures Plus and are getting very confused that it isn't showing up in the S+ Fabricator.

I did a google search for "ark override construction cost ConfigOverrideItemCraftingCosts" found this amongst the links https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/346110/discussions/0/350532795324065054/ Haven't tried it myself but it should help you. There are messages in the ini section above covering similar topics.

As far as I can see looking today, they haven't fixed the problem with adding items to the existing workbenches etc. If you do this then you have to re-create all of the fabricators/benches that already exist when the mod is added. A number of the posts on the drill mod you mentioned are for the "it doesn't appear on my fabricator" problem which results.

I have tried to be helpfull, but I don't see there is much more I can do for you. I am not currently actively developing this mod, it worked the way I intended last time I played on my server and I was able to construct the machines without needing to cheat code them in. But that was back in early 2018.

I feel like you're trying to brush me off. The default value should be something approachable for players that don't really want to dive in and tinker around. 400-500 weight is not approachable. It really should be moved to the Fabricator. Also I have no idea how to change the crafting cost.

There is a hard limit on how much stuff you can put into your inventory, based on the weight. Even making maximum use of that hard limit, it's just not enough.

Stand next to a box with the resources in and put them into your hands, you don't need to move while you are making the item!

No, that doesn't work like that. The crafting system for by hand requires you to have all the resources in your hands. You can absolutely add new items to existing benches. Look at Mining Drill as an example. It's crafted in the Fabricator.

Note: unless they fixed it, you could not add new stuff to the existing benches, so unless each mod added yet another bench just to create its items (a big waste of space) we were a bit limited!

The problem is that i'm past lvl 100, and that i'm STILL utterly unable to craft it by default with 250 weight. I am in the position of having to just cheat it in. I don't mind the costs, but it's the fact that i'm expected to have 400 or so weight to craft this stuff by hand.

@Sirius, I haven't played in a while, but I never had any problems. The idea is that these are by default high level items. I am not trying, on my servers, to make early game easy. If you want to, I believe you can change the construction cost of items, on your own server.

You really should consider a hard revising of the construction costs of a lot of your stuff. Or possibly just move it to a crafting station such as the Fabricator or the Smithy. Your structures require so much heavy materials that a player can't be expected to have the weight to craft it unless they hit a very high level and chew on a mindwipe tonic, and then put all their levels into weight.

Just tested the crafting skill does not raise the base numbers of the item, only its actual stats. If you put it in the machine it treats it as an item that has already been raised to the level so it gets limited by the tiering. The only advantage you get is in being able to create a blueprint for other people to use (which is what the machine does). The tiering is not based on the colour of the item going in, but the actual values of the item. If its improved 300% then even if it says its still primitive, the machine treats it as apprentice (or whatever the ini says that is), and scales for that tier. If you don't want the high level blueprints then I think having the machine is a problem for you. The game prevents repeated mind-wipes so anyone doing this has a pretty poor character for a while, I think that is why they did it.

The player will get the bonus, but the tester will reduce it's effectiveness based on the amount of improvement over the base values, are you seeing something different? Each level of improvement the amount the tester adds should decrease.

@wuzzy (guess we are still waiting for sdk update) but you will ALWAYS get the increase from crafting bonus. regardless of the ini settings so someone mindwiped for crafting plus focus chilly could get 30-50 % inprovement each time. was just a sugestion for a setting in the ini if you are able to access that information for an item.. that would then FORCE the Destructive laser ini setting for random chance of improving. thus giving more value to finding a good base item to start with vs crafting bonus.

It will still slow down as you increase the leveling, once it crosses the thresholds for amount of improvement. so yes you will get there quicker, but isn't that what the crafting bonus is for? You shouldn't be able to break the top out leveling? I don't believe the perk changes the base numbers I am using, but am willing to stand corrected! They did add in the limit on mind wiping to prevent people doing it to often, are you seeing this being exploited on your server?

@wuzzy cool thank's.. so i kind of have a balancing sugestion/issue... i take something lets say primitive pickaxe process it and get an improved pick plus damage + durability... if i mindwipe and put all points in to crafting Plus focus chil... then craft a few it get's a HUGE bonus from the crafting xp... then make a blue print rince repeat... this bypass's the INI settings for amount of improvement since i can improve each new BP with crafting skill... so if you made it this far... lol if you can read the base/crafting bouns and 1 use base or 2 subtract the bouns so that it can't be exploited(of course config option) it would help to balance the mod out a little more.

Confirmed, I can't add anything to the inventory either. I have made no changes so their latest attempt to fix s+ appears to have broken this. There is no later sdk yet, so can't see there is much I can do at the moment. I'll take a look, but we are probably waiting till they throw out a good one or update the SDK.

@wuzzy The vanilla grinder is supposed to give back about 25% of whatever you grind in it. But it is also very, very, expensive for that minimal return. Demolishing a wall gives more back than the grinder would.

The Upgrade Table mod has a salvage feature. That salvage often only gives primitive level materials for higher tier items. I cannot count how many times I've put mastercraft or ascendant picks in that thing and gotten 0-1 metal.

However, what I was thinking of was a lesser, cheaper, version of the vanilla one with the chance to give less or more materials. Plus, it'd be limited to one item at a time like your current item but not as slow.

Just something to help get rid of all those items you don't want a blueprint of while at the same time possibly getting materials towards making something you *do* want while still being balanced in some way; but before you can actually make the vanilla grinder.

@Dragnier: Its not hard to get resources, you are sacrificing the item for receiving a blueprint of an improved item, no need to get back resources of original item too, just go harvest some resources for the small amount you lost.

What I meant was basically a grinder attachment, but better than the vanilla grinder. In the Tester part you have now, you don't get back components but you get a blueprint. In the grinder, you'd get the components but no blueprint.
