Is there a way to patch this to the felin race without having to include the original files?
i don't feel comfortable using other's decompiled files in my game
(i don't re-upload anything btw just in case you feel worried about me asking this question)

@Syovere: Permission is granted, for both this and the Tier Nine Ships assets, though notably you didn't actually need to ask for the latter. Things are still a bit unfinished with this one, and the Tier 10 ships are horrible horrible programmer art but anyone who wants to can help fix that. On that note, @Turtlekidiv did send me an almost-finished t10 ship that I have yet to get around to pushing, I'd recommend asking them about that

Hey there! I'm working on a mod that lets players buy their ships from a list for a flat pixel fee, with options being present regardless of race. It's actually pretty simple, surprisingly, and I already have a working prototype.

The Protectorate Ship would be an excellent option for those who want to follow the original storyline.

While Flogenos has given open permissions for their mods, you also put some work into this as well, so I would like to ask permission to include it.

So does this automatically apply to all (vanilla) races? And does it apply to modded races as well or is that a separate patch?

I dug through the files to see if there was anything I could do, and saw there were two T9lit files and no T10lit, and that the T10.png looked incomplete. Do you have these files or would I have to work on them myself?

Sorry if I'm bothering you, I just want to minimise damage to my ship.

Hey, just letting you know that I've run into an issue with the assets for the T10 of this ship. The hull is displaying as the T10 default human ship, rather than the Protectorate one. Any fixes I could push on my end?

Decided to type this here since this mod is the source of the Protectorate ships T9 and 10 assets.

It's for the Fractured Ruin race and I know I'm spelling everything correctly and the only thing that would override would be the other ship replacer mod which i have unsubscribed. I'll try the process again, thanks for the help.

@Caljar22: Should be the same process as vanilla races. First thing I'd do is check to make sure your patch isn't being overridden

I'm having trouble with the universe_server.config.patch in general. I have other mods that alter some ship objects but I have never been able to swap a ship for a custom race. I can go into more detail but is there any trick that I'm missing? I read the instructions closely and I can get it to work for vanilla races.

@Jokiu: The Refactored version, by default, has its universe_server config set to enable the Protectorate race for all vanilla races. You can in fact install it after generating a character to keep the character's existing ships, though care should be taken to avoid upgrading the ship with the mod active in such cases. As always, backups are advised for anything you care about.

Strange... When I started a new Avian character, he started with the Protectorate ship as well. Keep in mind I only have the Human version of the mod installed. Removing this mod removed the ship for the Avian character, of course. Making a new Avian character after gives the regular Avian ship again.
Maybe I should install this mod only AFTER my characters get their ships?

@Jokiu: Pets are technically part of the ship and not part of the race, so the orb critter was used so as to be race-generic.

Also is it me or did this mod change the ship's pet into that small orb on a wheel? For human it's always a cat, but suddenly it had that orb critter. I don't mind it, just curious if this is the mod that changed that.

Ah that's good to know. But another issue I found. Installing this mod replaced the A.V.I.A.N. console to the Protectorate one with the default S.A.I.L. shown. A.V.I.A.N. still works, just doesn't show it in the ship. It's not THAT huge a deal. But I was eventually hoping for a A.V.I.A.N. console patch for the Protectorate ship anyways. Without this mod the A.V.I.A.N. console shows but with the colors of the regular human ship. Again, not that huge a deal, just a detail I'd like to have fixed if possible. No rush.

@Jokiu: This variant functions, essentially, by moving everything from an override to separate entry. The Protectorate themed ship objects sill exist, but are no longer overrides.

So quick question. I know the original one override some files from the human ship, but by installing this mod, would I still have access to the Protectorate-colored versions of the human ship things? Like the storage locker and doors and hatches.

@Sir David: Chances are, actually, that the use of Notepad caused issues with the formatting. See if redoing the modification with a coding editor such as Notepad++ corrects the issue.

I want to use this mod so only Glitches have this ship, but now i have an error preventing me from playing with a character.

1\ I unpacked it
2\ Modified the universe_server.config.patch ( i removed all other races from this config file so they don't get affected by the changes)
3\ Packed it

And now im stuck with :

Unable to start local server
(AssetExeption) error loading asset
/universe_server.config:commandProcessorScripts

I opened the file with the basic Notepad editor. Is the error about assets or scripts ?

I really like this idea. I've been using the original Protectorate ship mod for the human race to it replaces the assets of the human ship and I want to keep it that way for myself. But I fear what might happen if I install this mod alongside the original one, if that is possible. I would mainly want this for the Tier Nine Ships mod.

Don't worry I figured it out:
1. Unpack the assets file of the Avali mod (or any custom race) and this mod
2. Find the universe_server.config.patch file found in both mods, make a note of what the race/ship is called
3. Copy the protectorate ship patch section for one particular race, paste into the custom race mod's patch, rename or overwrite custom race ship information
4. Copy protectorate ship assets into the custom race mod's assets for luck.
5. Repackage both mods and put back in workshop file.
6. Profit!

i'm sorry to say this, buddy, but i'm not sure if i can help you, unfortunately. i have no experience with manual modding. but what i can try to help you with is trying to find one made for the Avali. if there is a Protectorate ship out in the workshop that the Avali can use, it should be wasy to find if you search for it. if i find it, i'll give you a link

Ok, I've found the universe_server.config file by unpacking the assets file. I still don't know how to patch it to work with Avali. I've tried looking around for a tutorial, but I cannot find one. Can anyone help?

Can someone explain how to make this work with custom races (eg. the Avali (triage) mod)? I cannot find a universe_server.config file, let alone work out how to patch it. I cannot even load my character with this mod installed, I just get a "server error: client ship world has errored"

@Nanerpus you need to delete the original shipworld file, so the game will create a new starship that follows that of the mod.

If im playing on a fully upgraded ship in a file how do I get this to become my ship other than my current one? Do i need to delete the old file of the certain ship?

Did you happen to fix that little problem with the FTL booster light? It didn't show up at all on the original mod for max-level floran ships.

Is there way to prevent upgrades of non-protectorate ships to protectorate? idk, may be there is way to just download only assets?
I play with my friends, and I very like this ship, but my friends don't - they prefer vanilla. So to not ruin their gameplay, but also to please myself, is there way to find compromise?

could i possibly use this with the Vulpes Race Mod? the people that made the Vulpes Race Mod do not update the mod so far i know. i actually don't think they will, considering the fact that other users created a patch for their usability in 1.3.
