Just tested. Yep, hitting your teammates is very highly not recommended.

As a reference, you incap a Survivor from full health with 15 hits with a normal melee weapon, which translates to 7 damage. Changing this value does nothing to the Infected damage.

ooooh, will have to try that. When I made this I played around and couldn't find a way to keep the damage.

I've been messing around with DMG_FIRE things and have discovered the melee weapons one-shot Special Infected on Expert (except Chargers and bosses). They also deal odd damage to fellow Survivors, so lowering the "damage" value may be necessary.

I used 136 (burn + club) for my Torch script, and the damage is exactly how you described it already.

@Recycle Bin - I've tried all manner of combinations.
12 still causes the burn effect with the loss of normal damage. 32 (or 16) causes just normal dmage and the loss of the burn effect. 8 || 4 behaves just like if I only had 8. 8 && 4 doesn't do the trick either.

I'm sure it should be possible, but I just don't know how.

if i remember correctly, if you use damage flags "12" it will burn infected but with ability to slice body parts off too.

@徒手开根号 - yes, I know. It is not actually a practical mod, because you lose the ability to kill special infected (or to cut the tounge, like you said).

如果使用这个MOD,会造成利刃就无法砍断舌头的现象,例如消防斧,武士刀,砍刀之类的利器。
对于实用性来说,有点本末倒置。砍断舌头的操作,远远比点燃效果要重要的多,所以。。。不太推荐

this will remove all regular damage from melees, and leaves only the fire damage. hitting SI more than once will be pointless...

I saw this done in a custom campaign with a machete before.
So this is interesting you figured out another similar way.
