it's giving a failed to load model error on the in game currency. it appears that the bin.com url for this figure is incorrect or no longer exists. friends and I just got back from boys vaycay. had alot of fun playing the board game. hope to get some similar enjoyment out of this TTS version. thanks for all the hard work much appreciated on any help restoring the cash models.

Poker chips do not load properly
boris  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 8:19pm
Correct: it's different. I feel the hexes work better in this context. You are free to disagree.
Rompersmash 31 Dec, 2022 @ 8:19am
I see a lot of work has gone into this and i respect that, but why cant the board be dots like it is in real life? Why the hexes? As is, the map is not accurate to it real life counterpart.

OK then. If you ever find those files, please put them up in an "extras" bag anyway. I'd like to look at them anyway, and it might make for a good game design exercise to adapt it to this version.
boris  [author] 6 Sep, 2022 @ 10:08am
Oh, I'd forgotten about that! About 5 years ago I paid the author (Bruce Linsey) for the files to make my own copy of that, but I can't find them now. One thing he told me at the time is that it's not compatible with the version of EB that includes Mexico. He said that to use it I'd have to find an old copy of the original version that doesn't include Mexico. I was not able to find it for a good price, so I never went through with printing and mounting the cards, etc.

Long story short: I don't think I'll be adding that to this TTS mod.
boris  [author] 31 Aug, 2022 @ 8:52am
I'm not aware of any EB expansions. Can you link me to what you read?
A88mph 27 Aug, 2022 @ 11:12am
I just read on BoardGameGeek that there is an expansion that adds advanced rules to the game. Would it be possible to add this expansion to the mod?
boris  [author] 13 Jul, 2020 @ 12:03pm
I hope you can get some enjoyment out of the mod. I can get a game going with my friend across town and my nephew in Brooklyn. I couldn't do that without a mod like this... so I made it.
Olebgamer 13 Jul, 2020 @ 12:02pm
Yep, I have a set of colored d12s for that. The guys I play with found it simpler to just write on the board (in the ocean) Or write out a 1-12 sequence and put a token on it.
boris  [author] 13 Jul, 2020 @ 11:59am
We do that sometimes also. I also use the die to set a number and remember how far I've moved if I stop to make a delivery.
Olebgamer 13 Jul, 2020 @ 7:38am
Thanks...I understand what you're saying... still a learning curve. I did wonder what the die was for. Usually we play highest delivery goes first.

TTS is not really like playing a video game. It won't normally do any setup for you or count points for you. Some mods are programmed well enough to do those things, but that's the exception, not the rule. I have implemented the thing that counts your chips for you, but that's about it. TTS is just a sandbox to Simulate a Table Top... hence the name.
boris  [author] 11 Jul, 2020 @ 4:34am
In the top right corner of your screen is a thing you can click to change the rotation angle. To rotate a thing, highlight it or hold it and press the E or Q keys on your keyboard. To shuffle the cards, highlight the deck and press the R key. To see a better view of a card, highlight it and press the Alt key to get a zoomed-in view. To flip a card over, highlight it and press the F key. To roll a die, highlight it and press the R key. As for setup, you need to just think of it as if you were sitting at a real table. You said you "know crayon games cold", so set up this game like you would a crayon rail game in real life... deal the cards, roll to see who goes first, etc. The only issue is learning how to manipulate things in TTS.
Olebgamer 10 Jul, 2020 @ 5:19pm
The link to a copy of the Mayfair rules seems to work now. What I have problems with is understanding how to lay track. I could pick up a piece from my spot on the table and drop it on a hex, but now how to align it at 30 deg increments. Also I still had problems figuring how to setup the game (draw starting cards, distribute trains, etc.) and simple things like reading the destination cards I drew. Some is just working the controls... others would be helped if there was a simple overview of the order of things.

4 pack? I don't know what you're referring to. Can you elaborate?
[teal]Sylerfire 9 Jul, 2020 @ 8:22pm
I just bought the 4 pack to play this with family.
boris  [author] 9 Jul, 2020 @ 8:18am
@Olebgamer As far as I can tell the rules link was working, but I've replaced it with another one to be sure.

Can you be specific about what you're having trouble with?
Olebgamer 8 Jul, 2020 @ 6:35pm
I'm new to TTS, but I know crayon games cold. I cannot figure out how you've modeled what, and how to interact with it. Your rules document is not accessible. Google says you've put it in the trash.
NegativeFriction 8 May, 2020 @ 9:59am
I'm excited to try this out! This is my favorite stupid board game to play, but none of my IRL friends have the patience for it.
boris  [author] 24 Feb, 2020 @ 5:05am
Cool!
PfluorescentZebra 23 Feb, 2020 @ 6:36pm
The map making is the hardest part, but the hubs and a friend did that bit. We've got China Rails almost ready and I started work on Martian Rails today! I'll let you know when its posted, still learning how to do all of this.
boris  [author] 23 Feb, 2020 @ 2:35pm
Also, I'll say this: the reason I haven't made more (besides this and Australia) is that making the map is a whole lot of work... I wish you good luck with that.
boris  [author] 23 Feb, 2020 @ 2:32pm
I'm honored that you ask! I'm happy that you enjoy the mod. By all mean, make more! All I ask is that you please keep me informed so I can play the ones you make!
PfluorescentZebra 21 Feb, 2020 @ 8:53pm
Since my husband and a friend of ours own all the games between the two, we would love to make some of the other games in the series using your style, if you don't mind. The hidden hands with counters are genius and we love using the trains rather than the awkward drawing mechanics. Full credit would be given to you for the lovely inspiration and to your credits list as well. Would that be alright?
boris  [author] 26 Apr, 2018 @ 5:35am
You might also like the Australian Rails mod I made.

Cool, I'll check it out!

You might be interested in my scripting buttons for adding track on the map.
Buttons 1-9 add one to nine segments in the direction hover object or selection "points".
I mark the track bag with a purple decal to show which way a segment taken from the bag will "point"

I am also working on an aid to show where your train can reach on the current move, but that code is still very much in flux.
cche 24 Apr, 2018 @ 5:16pm
Among my favorite games (have you played Iron Dragon). After many MANY plays, my friends and I made a lot of variants. I am using your as my base. (Note, I own both Empire Builder and every mayfair variant they marketed.) I too say BUY THE GAME. :-)
boris  [author] 19 Mar, 2018 @ 3:10am
It's my favorite also! I might do it some day, but no immediate plans. Do you like this version?
cotj73 13 Mar, 2018 @ 7:19pm
Any plans for the europe version, itis my favorite!
Hanniah (she/they) 3 Oct, 2017 @ 8:41am
huh... not sure how I missed that. Thank you
boris  [author] 1 Oct, 2017 @ 6:36pm
The rules link is also in the Notes inside the game, and a summary is on a tile on the board.
Plat 1 Oct, 2017 @ 5:45pm
The link to the rules is in the second line of workshop description.
Hanniah (she/they) 1 Oct, 2017 @ 5:30pm
I mean it literally. There are a lot of cool pieces here but the rules are missing. I can only guess what the goal is or how you set up or if there are or arent special moves you can make and how often.
boris  [author] 1 Oct, 2017 @ 12:12pm
I have added a separate mod for Australian Rails.
boris  [author] 1 Oct, 2017 @ 10:36am
@tinnesaile - I don't understand your question
Hanniah (she/they) 1 Oct, 2017 @ 10:24am
What is the game behind this
Plat 6 Sep, 2017 @ 2:15am
Hand zones are where names appear and where cards are held.
Hidden zones literally conceal and hide everything inside them aside from the player they belong to, and anyone who is on the same team as the player.
boris  [author] 5 Sep, 2017 @ 2:11pm
I'm still trying to figure out zones... like the difference between hand zones and hidden zones. I added some hidden zones at the player seats, to hide the chips.
Plat 3 Sep, 2017 @ 8:57am
Of course, I'll try to get a few people together for a game and then I'll post my suggestions for the mod if I have any. Thanks!
boris  [author] 3 Sep, 2017 @ 8:37am
OK, I think it's fixed. Thanks for the heads-up, and for your interest. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
boris  [author] 3 Sep, 2017 @ 7:38am
Ha! I didn't know that, and haven't played it on TTS since deleting those. I'll fix it.
Plat 3 Sep, 2017 @ 7:15am
If there are no player names (no hand zones), noone can take a seat on the table, or change colors, or hold cards.
boris  [author] 31 Aug, 2017 @ 10:07am
I added a tablet with the rules.
boris  [author] 23 Jul, 2017 @ 9:41am
I got rid of player names altogether by deleting the hand zones.
boris  [author] 22 Jul, 2017 @ 9:24pm
I added some tiles at each player's seat, in the player's color, which will add the value of poker chips placed there. They start locked, but you can unlock and move them if needed. If you want to keep the values hidden, draw a hidden zone around the boxes.

Sometimes (not always) the player's name shows through the bottom of the tile, and I can't figure out how to fix that without floating the tile up in the air above the name. Move the tile to the side if it shows for you and it's too distracting.
