The perk still says +3 in the menu, but I can't test to see if it still works on CVs yet. Is this just a thing that happens or is the mod being overwritten?

Yeah. I don't think his changes were part of the perk. the carrier type got the upgrade.

With the way the game was setup for the skill perks, I couldn't ever figure out a way to modify the other attributes that would work towards carrier ships. The ID's seem to be specific for a ship type.

Can you provide the other buffs from his mod? The increased shields/weapons really made the carrier worth the money. even with the fighters I still find the firepower underwhelming compared to the better dreadnaughts.

I don't know that I can. In this particular case, I modified the skill, which was already modifying the wing amounts. The only other option I could think of, would be to modify the individual hanger modules to hold more, but that would effect every single ship that had hangers.
It might be possible if somone else has a bit more knowledge of modifying things. I know originally I wanted to make the secondary part of the skill modify the toughness of the ship, but I couldn't figure out a way to do it. *Hint Hint to any other modders out there :)

I have to turn off the mod to change or equip fighters othere than that its good.
Burusagi 30 Jun, 2017 @ 6:32am
Yeah, I don't think AI/NPC get access to Perks.

Not even Warmasters.
U2mad  [author] 29 Jun, 2017 @ 4:55pm
Pretty sure just the players carrier. It effects the skill, and not the carrier loadout.
Tac21 29 Jun, 2017 @ 8:27am
Does this work for all carriers or just the one you fly?
Ilmatar 25 Jun, 2017 @ 8:10am
Thanks for the quick response though :)
U2mad  [author] 25 Jun, 2017 @ 7:51am
The discription got reset while updating. Fixed now.
Ilmatar 25 Jun, 2017 @ 7:12am
So by how much does it increase squadron size? Would've been helpful in the discription.

Best I could do is remove the changes I made to the description text in hopes that will make it compatible with the Chinese version.
I'm not seeing anything else that would dictate that.

We need Chinese

Having a good time with this and the gemini defence mod. Actually using a fleet of myself in a carrier with dreads and cruisers instead of just soloing everything in a dreadnaught.
U2mad  [author] 18 Jun, 2017 @ 9:49am
Well, apparently that skill doesn't do anything for carriers either. For testing I tried pushing the regen to 25x just to see, and nada. I must be missing something with this, so I'm setting the skill back to the default.
U2mad  [author] 18 Jun, 2017 @ 9:25am
So far, I haven't had any luck tracking down an id for damage absorbe that isn't ship specific. I did find some of the shield values though. I opted to add the shield recharge since that's kind of like damage absorbe. Not as good, but better than nothing.
If someone else knows what the actual damage absorbe id is that would work, I'd be happy to switch it to that.
U2mad  [author] 17 Jun, 2017 @ 9:02pm
Which means snagging the ID from the dread will not work either. I will have to dig in and see how the skill ids work. It might be more trouble than I'm prepared to deal with.
Sadness Forever 17 Jun, 2017 @ 8:38pm
The damage absorb part will not work because BonusID 206 is specified to work only with freightliner. Your code only swapped it to the carrier category, meaning, if you train the carrier perk, instead of receiving heavy weapon reload bonuse when flying a carrier, you will get damage absorb when flying a freightliner, which is quite pointless.
U2mad  [author] 17 Jun, 2017 @ 1:07pm
I used the Dmg Absorb skill that the freightliner perk was using. I also had to track down the description text and update that, so that the perk shows the correct information.
I went through a couple of fights to test, and it seems to be tougher than it used to be. I don't know if someone else has a more solid test to confirm with.
Burusagi 17 Jun, 2017 @ 10:58am
That's a good solution actually. I was actually thinking switching them around: Dreads are supposed to be the offensive option to Carriers, so them getting the Heavy Weapons bonus makes more sense thematically - even if it it kinda sucks in practice.
U2mad  [author] 17 Jun, 2017 @ 10:57am
I agree with the Heavy Weapons. I was actually trying to figure out if there was a range bonus I could give to it, but that seems to be limited to the enhancements. The next best thing I could think of, was to snag the damage resistance that the dreads get. I'm open for suggestions.
Burusagi 17 Jun, 2017 @ 8:10am
Any chance you could also switch out the utterly useless Heavy Weapon reload bonus of the Perk? Heavy Weapons just suck this time around.
U2mad  [author] 15 Jun, 2017 @ 12:57pm
I did some digging around. I found the entries for how many fighters there are for the modules. That would change the carrying capacity of every single ship that has hangers, not to mention have a better chance of conflicting with someone elses mod down the road.
I tried finding a ship template or something that would modify how many hangers there are on the carriers. So far I haven't been able to find the correct file for the subsystems. not for a class or a specific ship.
U2mad  [author] 15 Jun, 2017 @ 12:25pm
I'm not sure if modding the wings would do anything for the AI. I was also thinking that instead of modding the perk, I could mod the carriers to give them more wings.
Ultimately, I'm not too sure how much this really helps considering the wings don't attack structures.
Arakus 15 Jun, 2017 @ 11:13am
Maybe its better you go to the file which tell the game how many fighters a wing has, when you change the value there the ai would have the changes too!
Arakus 15 Jun, 2017 @ 10:51am
Does the ai get this bonus too?
I don't think so, atm i don't think the players need an additional buff.
Cruel Destiny 15 Jun, 2017 @ 6:48am
Appreciate the mod! Always bothered me that there were ships labled as carriers, but really they were reskinned dreads with less firepower and fighters that barely constituted as wings.
